- 前記デバイスが少なくとも2つの緊張部材を含む、請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 前記少なくとも1つの緊張部材の少なくとも2つの互いに対向する側部間の距離を調節し得るように、前記少なくとも1つの緊張部材を変形形態と非変形形態との間で調節することができ、前記変形形態を成す少なくとも2つの互いに対向する側部間の距離が、前記非変形形態を成す少なくとも2つの互いに対向する側部間の距離よりも小さい、請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 前記平均距離が少なくとも、前記少なくとも1つの緊張部材の厚さである、請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 前記平均距離が、前記少なくとも1つの緊張部材の厚さよりも小さい、請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 前記細胞カプセル化パウチが血管新生化層を含む、請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 前記細胞カプセル化パウチが、外側多孔質層と、前記外側多孔質層に隣接する内側多孔質層とを含むメンブレン複合体であり、かつ、前記内側多孔質層の多孔率が前記外側多孔質層の多孔率よりも低い、請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- さらに、前記リザーバ空間内部に配置された複数の生物学的部分を含む、請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- さらに、前記リザーバ空間と流体連通している少なくとも1つのポートを含む、請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 第1端部、該第1端部とは反対側の第2端部、及び内部リザーバ空間を含む複数の相互接続された格納チューブと、
該複数の格納チューブの周辺の少なくとも一部を巡って配置された緊張部材と、を含んでなり、
該緊張部材が該格納チューブそれぞれの平均厚を維持する、

- 前記格納チューブが溶接、キルティング、接着剤、又は構造支持体によって相互接続されている、請求項22に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 前記緊張部材が少なくとも2つの弓状部分を含み、前記弓状部分が、前記格納チューブそれぞれの前記第1端部と前記第2端部とに位置決めされた交互の凹部を含む、請求項22に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 前記緊張部材の少なくとも一部が、1つ又は2つ以上の格納チューブに接着剤によって取り付けられている、請求項22に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 前記緊張部材の一部が、前記複数の格納チューブのうちの2つの最も外側の格納チューブのそれぞれの内部に、前記細胞カプセル化デバイスの互いに対向する端部で保持されている、請求項22に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 細胞をカプセル化する方法であって、
請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイスを用意し、前記緊張部材は、前記細胞カプセル化パウチ全体にわたって緊張を提供する第1変形形態を成しており、
前記緊張部材を前記第1変形形態から、前記第1変形形態よりも大きく変形させられる第2変形形態に変形させ、これにより細胞カプセル化パウチ上の緊張が小さくなり、
前記リザーバ空間内へ細胞を挿入し、そして
前記緊張部材を前記第1変形形態まで解放する
ことを含む、細胞をカプセル化する方法。 - 細胞カプセル化デバイスを患者内に挿入する方法であって、
請求項1に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイスを用意し、前記細胞カプセル化デバイスがさらに、前記リザーバ空間内に配置された細胞を含み、そして
前記緊張部材は、前記細胞カプセル化パウチ全体にわたって緊張を提供する第1変形形態を成しており、
前記緊張部材を前記第1変形形態から、前記第1変形形態よりも大きく変形させられる第2変形形態に変形させ、これにより細胞カプセル化パウチ上の緊張が小さくなり、
前記細胞カプセル化デバイスを患者の組織床内へ植え込み、
そして前記緊張部材を前記第1変形形態まで解放する、
ことを含む、細胞カプセル化デバイスを患者に挿入する方法。 - 細胞カプセル化パウチと、緊張部材と、リザーバ空間とを含んでなる細胞カプセル化デバイスであって、
該細胞カプセル化パウチは、第1層をその周囲の一部に沿って第2層の周囲の一部にシールすることで、該第1層と該第2層との間に内部容積を画定するように構成され、さらに該内部容積は第1内面と、該第1内面から離隔し対向する第2内面とを含み、
該緊張部材は、該第1内面と該第2内面との間の平均距離を維持するように、該内部容積内部に配置され、かつ、該細胞カプセル化パウチの少なくとも2つの対向部分と接触しており、さらに該緊張部材は、非直線状である互いに対向する端部と、該細胞カプセル化パウチの全長にわたって均一な緊張を提供するように直線状である互いに対向する側部とを含むフレームであり、
該リザーバ空間は、該第1内面と該第2内面との間の該内部容積内に細胞を受容するためのものであり、かつ、該緊張部材と流体連通している、
細胞カプセル化デバイス。 - 細胞カプセル化パウチと、少なくとも1つの緊張部材と、リザーバ空間とを含んでなる細胞カプセル化デバイスであって、
該細胞カプセル化パウチは、第1層をその周囲の一部に沿って第2層の周囲の一部にシールすることで、該第1層と該第2層との間に内部容積を画定するように構成され、さらに該内部容積は第1内面と、該第1内面から離隔し対向する第2内面とを含み、
該少なくとも1つの緊張部材は、該第1内面と該第2内面との間に平均距離を維持するように、該内部容積内部に配置され、かつ、該細胞カプセル化パウチの対向する少なくとも2つの部分と接触しており、かつ
該リザーバ空間は、該第1内面と該第2内面との間の該内部容積内に細胞を受容するためのものであり、さらに
該緊張部材を該リザーバ空間から隔離するために、該第1層が該第2層に対して、該緊張部材と該リザーバ空間との間でシールされている、
細胞カプセル化デバイス。 - 前記シールの厚さが、前記第1内面と前記第2内面との間の平均厚を定義する、請求項31に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- さらに、前記シールから内側へ向かって前記内部容積内部に複数の構造スペーサを含み、前記構造スペーサが前記第1内面と前記第2内面との間の前記平均厚を定義している、請求項31に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
- 細胞カプセル化パウチと、少なくとも1つの緊張部材と、細胞押し退けコアと、リザーバ空間とを含んでなる細胞カプセル化デバイスであって、
該細胞カプセル化パウチは、第1層をその周囲の一部に沿って第2層の周囲の一部にシールすることで、該第1層と該第2層との間に内部容積を画定するように構成され、さらに該内部容積は第1内面と、該第1内面から離隔し対向する第2内面とを含み、
該少なくとも1つの緊張部材は、該第1内面と該第2内面との間に平均距離を維持するように、該内部容積内部に配置され、かつ、該細胞カプセル化パウチの対向する少なくとも2つの部分と接触しており、
該細胞押し退けコアは、該内部容積内部に配置され、かつ、該第1内面と該第2内面との間の平均厚を定義し、かつ
該リザーバ空間は、該第1内面と該第2内面との間の該内部容積内に、該細胞押し退けコアの少なくとも一部に隣接して細胞を受容するためのものである、
細胞カプセル化デバイス。 - 前記少なくとも1つの緊張部材が、前記細胞押し退けコアの互いに対向する側部内に埋め込まれた2つの緊張部材を含む、請求項34に記載の細胞カプセル化デバイス。
