Claims (11)
- 微生物粒子と液体媒体とを含有する液体を収容する容器と、微生物分離装置とを有する微生物選別システムであって、前記微生物分離装置は、
矩形断面を有する湾曲流路を有し、前記湾曲流路を前記液体が流れることによって生じる渦流れを利用して、前記液体を、相対的に大きい微生物粒子を含む第1画分と相対的に小さい微生物粒子を含む第2画分とに分離可能な流体力分離装置と、
前記液体を前記容器から前記流体力分離装置へ供給する送液部と
を有する微生物選別システム。 - 前記流体力分離装置は、前記液体を取り入れる単一の導入口と、前記第1画分及び前記第2画分を個別に排出する2つの導出口とを有し、前記第1画分に相対的に大きい微生物粒子が濃縮して含まれる請求項1に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 前記送液部は、前記容器と前記流体力分離装置とを接続する配管と、前記流体力分離装置へ前記液体を供給するための流動圧を前記液体に付勢するポンプとを有する請求項1又は2に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 更に、液体に含まれる微生物粒子の大きさを測定可能な検査装置を有し、前記第1画分及び前記第2画分の少なくとも一方についての前記検査装置による測定結果に基づいて、前記送液部が前記流体力分離装置に供給する前記液体の流量を変更可能である請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 前記送液部は、前記流体力分離装置に供給する前記液体の流量を制御する流量制御機構を有する請求項4に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 更に、湾曲流路の曲率又は矩形断面の形状が前記流体力分離装置とは異なる少なくとも1つの追加の流体力分離装置を有し、前記送液部は、前記流体力分離装置及び前記追加の流体力分離装置のうちの一つに前記液体を供給すると共に供給先を変更可能な供給切り替え機構を有する請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 更に、液体に含まれる微生物粒子の大きさを測定可能な検査装置を有し、前記流体力分離装置及び前記追加の流体力分離装置の一つに供給される液体から分離される第1画分及び第2画分の少なくとも一方についての前記検査装置による測定結果に基づいて、前記液体の供給先を前記供給切り替え機構によって変更可能である請求項6に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 前記微生物粒子は、ウイルス、真正細菌、古細菌、菌類、粘菌類、藻類、原生生物の何れかを含む請求項1〜7の何れか一項に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 前記微生物粒子は、単一種であり、流体力分離装置による分離によって、目的とする微生物株が選別される請求項1〜8の何れか一項に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 前記検査装置は、更に、微生物粒子の粒子個数、粒径分布及び生存率のうちの少なくとも一種を測定する手段を有する請求項4,5及び7の何れか一項に記載の微生物選別システム。
- 微生物粒子と液体媒体とを含有する液体を用いて、前記微生物粒子を粒子の大きさに基づいて選別する微生物選別方法であって、
矩形断面を有する湾曲流路に前記液体を供給して、前記湾曲流路を前記液体が流れることによって生じる渦流れを利用して、前記液体を、相対的に大きい微生物粒子を含む第1画分と相対的に小さい微生物粒子を含む第2画分とに分離する流体力分離工程と、
前記第1画分及び前記第2画分の少なくとも一方を分取する分取工程と
を有する微生物選別方法。
