繊維の粗さは、繊維長さあたりの質量として定義され、通常、mg/m又はg/mの単位で表される。粗さは、繊維の直径、細胞壁の厚さ、細胞壁の密度及び繊維の横断面に依存する。粗さの値は、紙の構造に大きな影響を有する。粗さの高い値は、厚い繊維壁を示し、崩壊できない剛性の繊維を与える。低い粗さの値を有する薄い壁の繊維は、柔軟性のある繊維及び緻密なシートを与える。繊維が粗くなると、繊維は強く、剛性になる。より粗い繊維は、かさ高い紙を作成する。これは、包装紙のためには重要であり、印刷紙のためには重要性は低い。粗繊維は、しかしながら、紙の表面の凹凸の原因となる。
坪量(g/m2)は、より少ない試料及びより小さな試料サイズを有する、ISO 536版を使用して、決定した。100±1cm2の面内の面積を有する円形試験片を、切断装置(ディスクカッター又はパンチ)を使用して、作製した。5個の円形試験片を、それぞれ、±0.5%の精度で読み取るはかりで秤量した。それぞれの試験片の坪量は、試験片の質量を、面内の面積で割ることによって、計算した。
図1は、層間剥離耐性において保持されたカチオン性デンプン含量の効果を示す。カチオン性デンプン(すべての試料について同じ、マーカーの隣に示す割合で投入)を、強度を増加させるために添加し、ゼロ参照(黒正方形)は別にして、すべての試料に添加した。泡密度(500kg/m3及び700kg/m3)及び保持剤の投入量(CPAM+微粒子、300g/t+300g/t(低ra)又は550g/t+550g/t(高ra)のいずれか)も含んでいた。図1及びTable 1(表1)から分かるように、SDSでの発泡において、保持されたカチオン性デンプン含量は、泡密度が増加するにつれて、より高い。低泡密度の領域において、40kg/tの投入量(すなわち、4%のデンプン含量の目標)では、保持されたデンプン含量は1%であったが、より高い泡密度では、一定の保持助剤の投入量で1.7%であった。この実験において、カチオン性デンプンの投入量は、10、20又は40kg/t(すなわち、目標デンプン含量は、それぞれ、1%、2%及び4%)(それぞれのティッカーの隣にマークした投入量)であったが、保持された量は、500kg/m3の泡密度で作製された試料について、0.2%(質量/質量)〜1.0%、700kg/m3の泡密度で作製された試料について、1.7%及び2.8%であった。2つの後者の値の間の相違は、保持化学物質の投入量から生じ、それぞれ、2.8%のデンプン含量は、CPAM及び微粒子の両方の550g/tの投入量(高ra)で達成されるが、1.7%の含量は、300g/tの投入量(低ra(保持助剤の投入量))で達成された。これらの結果は、選択された強度添加剤による層間剥離耐性を増加させる方法が、より高い泡密度及び保持化学物質の増加させた投入量の使用を含み得ることを示す。

Claims (18)
- 発泡成形セルロース繊維材料を製造するための方法であって、
(a)水性相中に気泡として分散した気体を含む水性発泡体を提供するステップであって、前記水性相が界面活性剤を含む、提供するステップと、
(b)セルロース繊維を前記水性発泡体に添加して、繊維発泡体組成物を形成するステップであって、前記セルロース繊維が、
−セルロース繊維の総量の85質量%〜97質量%の量の粗セルロース繊維、及び
−セルロース繊維の総量の3質量%〜15質量%の量の高度精製繊維成分であるセルロース補強画分
として添加される、形成するステップと、
(c)前記繊維発泡体組成物を、基材上又は型内に分配するステップと、
(d)分配された繊維発泡体組成物中の水の量を低下させて、発泡成形セルロース繊維材料を最終形状で得るステップと、
を含む、方法。 - 前記セルロース補強画分が、SR°80より大きいSR範囲を有する高度精製化学パルプ及び70mL未満のCSFを有する高度精製ケミサーモメカニカルパルプ(hrCTMP)から選択される高度精製繊維成分である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記セルロース補強画分が、カチオン性乾燥増強剤で処理されており、前記カチオン性乾燥増強剤が、カチオン性デンプン(CS)、カチオン性ポリアクリルアミド(CPAM)、グリオキサール化ポリアクリルアミド(GPAM)及びポリアミノアミド−エピクロロヒドリン(PAE)からなる群から選択される、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記セルロース補強画分が、高分子電解質重層化法(PEM)で処理されており、結果として3つのポリマー層をもたらし、前記セルロース補強画分上の第1のポリマー層が、カチオン性デンプン(CS)等のカチオン性ポリマーであり、前記セルロース補強画分上の第2のポリマー層が、カルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)、アニオン性デンプン(AS)及びアニオン性ポリアクリルアミド(APAM)等のアニオン性ポリマーであり、前記セルロース補強画分上の第3のポリマー層が、カチオン性デンプン(CS)等のカチオン性ポリマーである、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- (e)前記粗セルロース繊維及び前記セルロース補強画分を混合して、セルロース繊維混合物を形成するステップ
を更に含み、混合するステップが、ステップ(b)より前に行われる、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - 前記界面活性剤が、ドデシル硫酸ナトリウム(SDS)又はラウリルエーテル硫酸ナトリウム(SLES)である、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- (f)ステップ(b)において得られた繊維発泡体組成物に保持系を添加するステップであって、前記保持系が、ポリエチレンオキシド(PEO)及びタンニン酸(TA)を含む、添加するステップ
を更に含む、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - (g)ステップ(c)の直前に、アルキルケテンダイマー(AKD)、アルキルコハク酸無水物(ASA)及び/又はロジンサイジング剤を添加することによって、疎水性サイジングを行うステップ
を更に含む、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - (h)ステップ(c)において得られる分配された繊維発泡体組成物上に、スプレーすることによってサイジング剤を適用することにより疎水性サイジングを行うステップであって、前記サイジング剤が、アルキルケテンダイマー(AKD)及び/又はアルキルコハク酸無水物(ASA)を含む、疎水性サイジングを行うステップ
を更に含む、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - 水の量を低下させる繊維発泡体組成物の密度が、およそ600〜750kg/m3であり、平均気泡サイズが、100μm以下である、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- セルロース繊維の総量の85質量%〜97質量%の量の粗セルロース繊維、及びセルロース繊維の総量の3質量%〜15質量%の量のセルロース補強画分を含む発泡成形セルロース繊維材料であって、200〜450kg/m3、好ましくは、250〜350kg/m3、更により好ましくは、300〜320kg/m3の密度を有する、発泡成形セルロース繊維材料。
- 少なくとも100J/m2、好ましくは、少なくとも140J/m2、更により好ましくは、少なくとも170J/m2の層間剥離強度を有する、請求項11に記載の発泡成形セルロース繊維材料。
- 最大で450kg/m3の密度を有する、請求項11又は12に記載の発泡成形セルロース繊維材料。
- 1.3〜4.0の間、好ましくは、2.0〜3.5の間、更により好ましくは、2.5〜3.0の間のMD/CDの圧縮強度比を有する、請求項11から13のいずれか一項に記載の発泡成形セルロース繊維材料。
- 異なるセルロース材料の更なるシートと接触した層に積層又は配置された、請求項11から14のいずれか一項に記載の発泡成形セルロース繊維材料を含む、包装材料用セルロースバルクシート。
- 前記異なるセルロース材料の更なるシートが紙である、請求項15に記載の包装材料用セルロースバルクシート。
- 請求項11から14のいずれか一項に記載の発泡成形セルロース繊維材料を含む積層包装材料であって、前記発泡成形セルロース繊維材料が、少なくとも1層のポリマー、例えば、熱可塑性ポリマー、例えば、ポリオレフィンに積層されている、積層包装材料。
- 酸素バリアを更に含む、請求項17に記載の積層包装材料。
