塩化ジルコニウム(IV)(zirconium(IV) chloride; ZrCl4, ≧99.5%)、塩酸(hydrochloric acid; HCl, 36.5〜38.0%)、ベンゼン−1,4−ジカルボン酸(benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid; BDC, 98%)、ジメチルホルムアミド(dimethylformamide; DMF, 99.8%)、4−エチルモルホリン(4-ethylmorpholine; 4-EM, 97%)、直鎖状ポリエチレンイミン(linear type polyethyleneimine; LPEI, Mn=10k)、及び分岐状ポリエチレンイミン(branch type polyethyleneimine; BPEI, Mn=0.6k and 10k)をはじめとする全ての試薬をシグマアルドリッチから購入し、特に断らない限り、特段の処理を施すことなく用いた。メチルパラオキソン(methylparaoxon; MPO, Sigma-Aldrich)はメタノールで希釈して用いた(0.253mmol/mL)。
次の方法で大きさが調節された(modulated)UiO−66触媒を合成した。具体的には、ZnCl4(1.62mmol,0.38g)、1/3のDMF、及びHCl(1.5mL)を含有する一溶液と、BDC(2.25mmol,0.37g)及び残りのDMFを含む他の溶液の2つの溶液を個別に準備し、完全に溶解するまで50℃で攪拌した。ここで、UiO−66の大きさを調節するために、例えば順に、大きなサイズ、中間サイズ及び小さなサイズのUiO−66(順に、UiO−66L、UiO−66M及びUiO−66Sという)を製造するために、DMFの全体積をそれぞれ45mL、22.5mL及び11.25mLに変化させた。後者の溶液、すなわちBDC溶液に前者の溶液、すなわちZrCl4含有溶液を注入し、80℃に加熱して24時間保持することにより反応を起こさせた。反応に用いたものと同じ体積のDMFで希釈し、その後沈殿物を濾過して過剰量のDMF及びエタノールで連続的に洗浄した。得られたUiO−66を90℃で一晩乾燥させ、触媒として用いる前に150℃で3時間乾燥させて活性化した。大きさを小さく調節したUiO−66Sの大量生産工程を200倍大きい規模で行った。前記工程は、前述したUiO−66Sの合成方法と同様に行った。
実施例1により製造した、大きさが調節されたUiO−66のメチルパラオキソン(methylparaoxon; MPO)加水分解反応における触媒活性を31P NMRでモニタした。
0.58mLのH2O/D2O(9/1)混合物を含む5mLバイアルを準備し、4−EM(0.45mmol)及びメタノールに希釈したMPO(0.253mmol/mL)0.1mLを順次添加した。30秒間攪拌し、1分後に予め準備した前記溶液に0.32mLのUiO−66水分散液を最終的に添加した。所定時間後に20μLの試料を採取し、0.7mLのD2Oで希釈した。その後、希釈した溶液を濾過してUiO−66触媒を除去した。得られた溶液を31P NMRにより加水分解速度評価に用いた。
0.58mLのH2O/D2O(9/1)混合物を含む5mLバイアルを準備し、4−EM(0.45mmol)及び0.32mLのUiO−66水分散液(5mg/mL)を順次添加した。1日間攪拌し、その後予め準備した前記溶液にメタノールに希釈したMPO(0.253mmol/mL)0.1mLを最終的に添加した。方法1で用いた方法により加水分解速度評価を行った。

UiO−66構造と小型試薬(small agents)間の化学的反応を研究するために、M06−Lメタ一般化勾配近似(Meta-Generalized Gradient Approximation)の体系内で密度汎関数理論(density functional theories; DFT)計算を行った。非金属原子に対しては、def2−SVP基底関数(basis set)を用い、Zrに対しては、外殻価電子領域(outer valence region)を効果的に描写するためにSRSC疑似ポテンシャル(pseudo-potential)を考慮した。最適化された構造に対する全エネルギーは零点エネルギー(zero point energy)を考慮して修正され、UiO−66と試薬の化学反応における自由エネルギー変化は周波数計算により得られ、298Kで計算した。DFT計算は、Q−Chem 5.0モデリングスーツ(modeling suit)により行った。UiO−66 MOF構造を示すために、次のクラスターモデルを用いた。UiO−66の局所骨格は6個のZr原子、8個の酸素原子、及び12個の架橋リガンドから構成されるので、UiO−66の単位構造を構成する原子の総数は186個である。これらの数字は、金属部位で相互作用に集中するために12個のリガンドのベンゼン環を省略して水素原子で終結する、現在の計算レベルで計算するには大きすぎる。欠陥描写のために、1個のカルボキシレートリガンド(COOH)を省略し、2個のZr原子を水分子又は試薬に曝露した。1個のZr部位は全ての幾何学においてヒドロキシ基がついたものと推定し、これはその後現れるその高い結合エネルギーについて合理的である。
回折ビーム単色光分光器(diffracted beam monochromator)を用いて、CuKα放射線(λ=1.5406Å)を有する45kV及び40mAで駆動されるRigaku回折計(Rigaku Smart Lab, Rigaku Co., Japan)により粉末X線回折(powder X-ray diffraction; XRD)パターンを取得した。データは2θ=5゜〜35゜の間において0.01゜間隔で収集した。減圧下で、単色AlKα源(source)を備えるX線光電子分光分析装置(X-ray photoelectron spectrometer, X-TOOL, ULVAC-PHI)によりX線光電子分光法(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; XPS)分析を行った。Dosino 800(Metrohm)を備えるTitrando 905(Metrohm)により電位差滴定(potentiometric titrations)を行った。窒素雰囲気下にて、10℃/minの加熱速度(heating rate)で熱重量分析(thermogravimetric analysis; TGA, TA instruments TGA 2950)により熱分析(thermal analysis)を行った。Varian Unity INOVA(300MHz)上で、H2O/D2O=9/1(v/v)の混合溶媒により25℃で1H NMR及び31P NMRスペクトルを記録した。KBrペレット上で、溶媒キャスト法を用いて、Thermo Scientific Nicolet FT−IRシステム(iS10)によりフーリエ変換赤外線(Fourier transform infrared; FT-IR)スペクトルを測定した。走査型電子顕微鏡(scanning electron microscope; SEM)Inspect F50により形態素解析(morphological analysis)を行った。Brunauer−Emmett−Teller(BET)装置(ASAP 2010, Micromeritics)を用いて、77Kで窒素吸着−脱着等温線(N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms)及び気孔の大きさ分布(pore size distribution)を測定した。BET測定に先立ち、全ての試料を減圧下にて200℃で一晩脱気した。
ZrCl4、BDC及びHCl(1.5mL)を含有するDMF溶液を用いて、実施例1により、大きさが調節されたUiO−66物質を合成した。簡単には、DMFにそれぞれZrCl4/HCl及びBDCを含有する溶液を別途に準備し、BDC溶液にZrCl4/HCl溶液を注入して混合し、80℃で24時間加熱した。UiO−66粒子の大きさを調節するために、45mLから11.2mLまでの範囲でDMF溶媒の体積のみ変化させた。調節変数として用いた全反応物の量を表1に示す。3種類の異なる反応濃度で製造した生成物の形態及び大きさをSEMで確認した。溶媒DMFの使用量が多い順に(全DMF=45mLから11.2mLに)、すなわち反応物の濃度が増加するにつれて、合成されたUiO−66はそれぞれ580nm、190nm及び100nmの大きさであった。以下、これらの物質を粒子の大きさに応じてUiO−66L、UiO−66M及びUiO−66Sという(図1のA)。UiO−66LのSEM画像は、広い大きさ分布を有する非球形であった(図1のA1)。逆に、UiO−66Sは、相対的に狭い大きさ分布を有する略球形であった(図1のA3)。反応濃度を変化させて達成したUiO−66の調節された大きさは、BDCの脱陽子化はもとよりZrCl4の加水分解を遅延させる、骨格形成時のHClの役割によるものと説明される。特に、反応濃度の増加は、豊富なCl−イオンを提供することによりZr+イオンの電荷中和をより促進することができる。UiO−66合成における粒子サイズによる反応濃度依存的変化は、Hanらによりモジュレータ(modulator)としてフッ酸(hydrofluoric acid; HF)を用いて立証された(非特許文献1)。そこでは、本発明における結果と同様に、様々な大きさのUiO−66を合成した。もっとも、本発明とは異なり、フッ酸の使用量が増加するにつれて、又は用いる反応物の濃度が増加するにつれて、気孔の大きさは同一レベルに維持され、形成される粒子の大きさが増加するものであった。それに対して、塩酸をモジュレータとして用いる本発明においては、溶媒の使用量が減少するにつれて、すなわち反応物の濃度が増加するにつれて、形成される粒子の大きさが減少するものであった。このような現象は、反応容量を100倍に増加させて大量生産した場合においても同様に現れた(表1及び表2参照)。

高性能触媒反応のために、骨格形成反応(framework reactions)における溶媒体積の関数でZrCl4の加水分解及びBDCの脱陽子化を調節することにより、3つの異なる欠陥頻度(defect density)及び粒子サイズを有する、調節されたUiO−66触媒を合成することに成功した。より少ない溶媒体積の使用により、最も小さい粒子サイズ(ca.100nm)及びルイス酸触媒反応で好まれる最も高い欠陥頻度(単位クラスター当たり1.8)を有する、最も高い活性のUiO−66触媒(UiO−66S)が提供された。UiO−66Sは、実質的に4−EM塩基存在下で、MPOに対して、UiO−66L(低い欠陥頻度:単位クラスター当たり1.6,1.88s-1)に比べて向上した加水分解速度を示した(TOF:0.547s-1)。UiO−66Sにより、LPEI及びBPEIを含む高分子性塩基存在下での実行可能性(feasibility)を確認した。しかし、Uio−66中のルイス酸Zr部位とPEI中のルイス塩基アミン部位の強く速いライゲーション(ligation)により、MPO加水分解反応における触媒性能は著しくPEI含有量に依存的であった。また、溶液相においてUiO−66及びLPEIを1日保管したものは、UiO−66及びLPEIの新鮮な混合物に比べて、触媒的MPO加水分解速度を220分の1に減少させた(0.219s-1から0.001s-1へ)。これは、UiO−66とPEIの相互作用がMPO加水分解機序に基づいてUiO−66上のルイス酸Zr活性部位を実質的に減少させることに起因するものである。PEIによる結果に基づいて、4−EMもUiO−66の反応性に影響を及ぼすことが確認された。これも、酸塩基相互作用により説明される。有機塩基のキレート化による反応性変化を確認するために、密度関数理論(density functional theories; DFT)計算レベルで量子化学計算(quantum chemical calculations)を行った。UiO−66内のZr部位におけるMPOとの4−EMの置換反応(substitution reaction)はエネルギー吸収(endergonic)反応(7.5kcal mol-1)であり、これは大気条件(ambient condition)下で反応が困難なことに裏付けられる。本発明のさらなる実験的及び計算的研究において、Zr(IV)ベースMOF触媒と組み合わせるための、合理的に考案された新規な塩基物質の開発は依然として挑戦的な課題として取り組まれており、ルイス塩基部位含有物質と結合するZr(IV)ベースMOF触媒を用いる安定かつ均一な触媒反応を提供するために、触媒反応の合理的工程に関する研究に実質的関心が必要である。
Claims (15)
- 0.15〜0.5Mの濃度のZrCl4を含有する第1溶液を準備する第1ステップと、
0.1M〜0.5Mの濃度のテレフタル酸(terephthalic acid又はbenzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid; BDC)を含有する第2溶液を準備する第2ステップと、
前記第1溶液と前記第2溶液を1:1〜1:3の割合で混合して反応させる第3ステップとを含み、
前記第1溶液は、ZrCl4の8〜15倍のモル数の塩酸を含む、大きさが調節されたUiO−66の製造方法。 - 前記第1溶液と前記第2溶液は、どちらもN,N−ジメチルホルムアミド(N,N-dimethylformamide; DMF)を溶媒として用いて準備したものである、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記第3ステップは、60〜120℃で12〜48時間行うものである、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 最終的に製造されたUiO−66粒子は、平均直径50〜400nmの大きさを有する、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
