本明細書で用いられる「混合酸化物」という用語は一般的に、当技術分野で従来から知られているような、単一相の酸化物の混合物をいう。本明細書で用いられる「複合酸化物」という用語は一般的に、当技術分野で従来から知られているような、二相以上の相を有する酸化物の組成物をいう。
これより、以下の非限定的な実施例によって、本発明を説明する。
3重量%のCu/CHAゼオライトでコーティングされた基材の製造
市販で手に入るアルミノシリケートCHAゼオライトを、Cu(NO3)2の水溶液に、撹拌しながら添加した。このスラリーをろ過し、それから洗浄、乾燥した。所望の金属担持量が得られるまで、この手順を繰り返すことができる。最終的な生成物を焼成した。混合後に、バインダ及びレオロジー調整剤を添加して、ウォッシュコート組成物を形成した。
シリカ−アルミナ粉末を水中でスラリー化し、<20ミクロンのd90にミリングした。このスラリーに酢酸バリウムを加え、その後、適量の可溶性の白金とパラジウム塩を加えた。スラリーがシリカ−アルミナを77質量%、及びゼオライトを23質量%含有するように、ベータゼオライトを添加した。それから、スラリーを攪拌して均質化した。得られたウォッシュコートを、確立されたコーティング技術を用い、1平方インチ当たり400個のセルを有するコーディエライト製フロースルーモノリスの入口チャネルに塗布した。それから、この部材を乾燥させた。

試験システム
試験は、図1に記載の第一の合成触媒活性試験(SCAT)実験室用反応器で行ったのだが、ここでは例1のコーティングされたCu/CHAゼオライトSCR触媒のエージングされたコアが、例2、3又は4の触媒のコアの導管下流に配置されていた。合成ガス混合物を導管に、1分あたり6リットルの流速で通過させた。炉を使用して、定常状態の温度にて950℃の触媒出口温度で2時間、酸化触媒試料を加熱(又はエージング)した。SCR触媒を、酸化触媒試料の下流に配置し、炉の出口とSCR入口との間にある管の長さを調整することにより、エージング工程の間、300℃の触媒温度に保った(適切であれば、水冷式熱交換器ジャケットを使用可能)。適切に位置決めされた熱電対(T1及びT2)により、温度を特定した。エージングの間に使用したガス混合物は、空気が40%、N2が50%、H2Oが10%であった。
例2、3及び4の触媒から、コア試料を採取した。これらのコアを、790℃で16時間、10%の水を用いて水熱エージングした。

- 捕捉材料が、≧約50m2/gの平均比表面積を有する耐火性酸化物粒子を含む、請求項1又は2に記載の酸化触媒。

(i)排ガスを処理するための酸化触媒であって、該酸化触媒は、第一の基材と、第一の基材上に配置された触媒材料とを備え、該触媒材料は、白金(Pt)を含む、酸化触媒、及び
(ii)請求項21から25のいずれか一項に記載の捕捉ブリック
を備え、
該捕捉ブリックは、排ガスが酸化触媒を通過した後に排ガスと接触するように配設されている、排気システム。 - 酸化触媒が、請求項1から19のいずれか一項で規定したものである、請求項26に記載の排気システム。
