Description
本出願は、2016年6月3日に出願された「Laser Micro-Particles(レーザマイクロ粒子)」と題された米国仮出願第62/345,070号に基づきこれの優先権を主張しこれを全体として本明細書に援用する。上記仮特許出願に引用されている参考文献も参照により本明細書で援用される。
本発明は、国立科学財団によって授与されたECCS−1505569及び国立衛生研究所によって授与されたDP1−db024242の下での政府の支援によってなされた。政府は本発明に一定の権利を有する。
キャビティの光共振モードによって定義されるスペクトル特性を示す光を放出する。粒子は、量子井戸構造、球形、又はマルチレイヤブラッグ反射器のような適切な形状及び構造を有する半導体材料で作ることができる。あるいは、粒子は、蛍光利得分子、高屈折率誘電体共振器、及び潜在的に金属で構成されてもよい。

生体系に埋め込まれている場合、電気ポンピングが可能であるが、正味の利得を生み出すために半導体媒質に十分な電流及び電圧を引き出す巧妙な方法が必要である。無線電気エネルギ伝達は1つの選択肢で、動物に埋め込まれたミリメートルサイズの発光ダイオード(LED)を駆動することができることが示された。装置がさらに小型化されるにつれて、対応するアンテナが小さくなり効率的な無線伝送に必要な共振周波数が増加する。サイズがミクロン又はサブミクロンのスケールに近づくと、最適な周波数範囲が光周波数に近づく。これにより、無線ポンピングが光ポンピングと同等になる。ここでは、さまざまなポンプ方式の基本について説明する。さらに、生きている系から引き出されたバイオエネルギを使用してレーザ粒子を操作するといった、まだわかりにくくも潜在的な励起性について論じる。
