Abstract
Description
第1実施形態について、図6を参照して説明する。第1実施形態の液晶表示装置DSPは、赤色画素SPXrに設けられた第1フィルタ層22rが、赤色レーザー光を透過し、且つ緑色レーザー光の一部を透過し残余を吸収する二色透過フィルタとして構成されている。
第2実施形態について、図7を参照して説明する。第2実施形態は、第1実施形態の変形例であり、二色透過フィルタの構成が異なる。第2実施形態では、赤色画素SPXrに設けられた第1フィルタ層22rが、赤色レーザー光を効率よく透過する赤色領域と、緑色レーザー光を効率よく透過する緑色領域とを各別に有している。
第3実施形態について、図8及び図9を参照して説明する。前述の第1及び第2実施形態では、赤色画素SPXrが第1規定色を表示することによって画素PXが第1規定色を含んだ色を表示していた。これに対し、第3実施形態及び後述する第4実施形態では、赤色画素SPXrが第1規定色とは異なる第4の色度座標の色の光を表示する。画素PXは、赤色画素SPXrが表示する色と緑色画素SPXgが表示する色とを混合して第1規定色を含んだ色を表示する。
第4実施形態について、再び図1を参照して説明する。第4実施形態は、画像データを受信するコントローラCTRが映像信号を変換して画素PXに表示させる色域を第1乃至第3規定色を結んだ色域に一致させる。例えば、赤色画素SPXrに第1規定色を含んだ色を表示させる画像データを受信したとき、コントローラCTRは、第1規定色とは異なる第4の色度座標(x4,y4)の色を赤色画素SPXrに表示させる。
Claims (7)
- CIExy色度図における第1の色度座標の第1規定色と、第2の色度座標の第2規定色と、第3の色度座標の第3規定色とを結んだ色域を表示する表示装置であって、
前記色域を表示する画素が複数配列された表示パネルと、該表示パネルに光を照射する照明装置と、を備え、
前記照明装置は、前記第2規定色のレーザー光を発する緑色半導体レーザーと、前記第3規定色のレーザー光を発する青色半導体レーザーと、前記第1規定色とは異なる第4の色度座標の色のレーザー光を発する赤色半導体レーザーと、を備え、
各々の前記画素は、前記第1規定色を含んだ色を表示するとき、前記第4の色度座標のレーザー光と前記第2規定色のレーザー光とを混合して表示する、表示装置。 - 前記第4の色度座標は、前記第2の色度座標から前記第1の色度座標へ向かう線分の延長線上にある、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1規定色の波長が630nmであり、前記第2規定色の波長が532nmであり、前記第4の色度座標の色の波長が637nm乃至639nmである、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 各々の前記画素は、前記第1規定色を表示する赤色画素と、前記第2規定色を表示する緑色画素と、前記第3規定色を表示する青色画素と、を含み、
各々の前記赤色画素は、二色透過フィルタを備え、
前記二色透過フィルタは、前記第4の色度座標の色のレーザー光を透過し、前記第2規定色のレーザー光の一部を透過し且つ該第2規定色のレーザー光の残余を吸収するオレンジ着色膜である、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 各々の前記画素は、前記第1規定色を表示する赤色画素と、前記第2規定色を表示する緑色画素と、前記第3規定色を表示する青色画素と、を含み、
各々の前記赤色画素は、二色透過フィルタを備え、
前記二色透過フィルタには、前記第4の色度座標の色のレーザー光を透過する赤色領域と、前記第2規定色のレーザー光を透過する緑色領域とが区画されている、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 各々の前記画素は、前記第1規定色とは異なる前記第4の色度座標の色のレーザー光を表示する赤色画素と、前記第2規定色を表示する緑色画素と、前記第3規定色を表示する青色画素と、を含み、前記第1規定色及び前記第3規定色を表示する第1フィールドと、前記第2規定色及び前記第3規定色を表示する第2フィールドとを時分割で表示し、
前記赤色画素及び前記緑色画素は、前記第4の色度座標の色及び前記第2規定色のレーザー光を透過する黄色フィルタを備え、前記青色画素は、前記第3規定色を透過する青色フィルタを備え、
前記第1フィールドにおいて、前記照明装置は、前記赤色半導体レーザー及び前記青色半導体レーザーに加えて前記緑色半導体レーザーをさらに点灯し、各々の前記画素は、前記第4の色度座標の色のレーザー光に前記第2規定色のレーザー光を混合して前記第1規定色に一致させる、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 各々の前記画素は、前記第1規定色とは異なる前記第4の色度座標の色のレーザー光を表示する赤色画素と、前記第2規定色を表示する緑色画素と、前記第3規定色を表示する青色画素と、を含み、
前記表示パネルは、前記画素を駆動するコントローラをさらに備え、該コントローラは、前記赤色画素に前記第1規定色を表示させる映像信号が入力されたとき、該赤色画素と前記緑色画素とを同時に表示させて前記第1規定色に一致させる映像信号を出力する、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
