Abstract
Description
本願は、2014年12月5日に出願された仮特許出願第62/088,402号の利益を主張し、この開示は、全て本明細書において参照により援用される。
1.発明の分野。本発明は、神経疾患、例えば片頭痛の発症の予防処置に関する。実施形態は、時には発作と呼ばれる片頭痛の発症(以後「片頭痛」)に対する磁場を用いての処置および診断に特に言及するが、本発明の実施形態は、多くの神経疾患、例えばうつ病、パーキンソン病、脳卒中、慢性疼痛、耳鳴、およびてんかんの予防処置への適用性を有し得る。
図1Aは、手持ちの処置装置110を用いて片頭痛の頭痛または他の神経疾患の発現を抑制するために自分に処置を施している第一患者P1を示す。手持ちの処置装置は、処置システム100の構成要素を備え得る。患者は、処置のために、処置装置110を頭および首の後ろの近くに配置し得る。処置装置110は、患者に処置を施すために磁場を生成する。処置装置110は、患者インターフェース120を備える。患者インターフェース120は、ディスプレイ122と、少なくとも1つのボタン124とを備える。ディスプレイ122は、タッチスクリーンディスプレイを備え得る。少なくとも1つのボタン124は、複数のボタンを備え得る。
方法:患者は、2つの連続的パルスを用い、15分待ち、2つの連続的パルスを反復する処置を毎日、各朝晩に施すように指示された。必要であれば、患者は、各朝晩に3つの連続的パルス、続いて4つの連続的パルスまで増やすことができた。患者は、日中時点に処置を施すという選択肢も有した。防止のため、毎日のパルス数は、3ヵ月の期間にわたり、1日当たり8パルスから24パルスまでの間を変動した。加えて、この期間中、必要に応じて急性の片頭痛発作に処置を施すために4つのパルスが用いられることができた。
Claims (13)
- 患者の片頭痛の頭痛の発現を抑制する方法であって、該方法は、
(a)該患者の頭に近接して電磁場発生装置を配置することと、
(b)該電磁場発生装置から、0.001秒から1秒までの範囲の時間、0.85テスラから1.3テスラまでの範囲の強度を有する予防電磁場を該患者の頭に向けることと、
該患者の片頭痛の頭痛の該発現を抑制するために選択された時間パターンにおいて、ステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復することと
を含む、方法。 - 前記時間パターンは、3時間毎より多くない頻度かつ24時間毎より少なくない頻度でステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記時間パターンは、6時間毎より多くない頻度かつ24時間毎より少なくない頻度でステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記時間パターンは、12時間毎より多くない頻度かつ24時間毎より少なくない頻度でステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記時間パターンは、ステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を毎日反復することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- ステップ(a)およびステップ(b)は、前記患者の症状に関係なく反復される、請求項1のうちのいずれかに記載の方法。
- ステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復することに加え、前記患者が片頭痛の頭痛の前記発現を感じる度に治療的電磁場を該患者の頭に向けることを更に含む、請求項1のうちのいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記患者が片頭痛の頭痛の前記発現を感じる度に該患者の頭に向けられる前記治療的電磁場は、0.001秒から1秒までの範囲の時間、0.85テスラから1.3テスラまでの範囲の強度を有する、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記患者は、前記予防電磁場を自己管理する、請求項1のうちのいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記患者は、前記予防電磁場を送達する間、前記電磁場発生装置を保持する、請求項9に記載の方法。
- ステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復する間に前記患者によって経験される片頭痛の頭痛の頻度は、ステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復しない間に該患者によって経験される片頭痛の頭痛の頻度と比較したとき、少なくとも25%軽減される、請求項1のうちのいずれかに記載の方法。
- ステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復する間に前記患者によって経験される片頭痛の頭痛の前記頻度は、少なくとも50%軽減される、請求項11に記載の方法。
- ステップ(a)およびステップ(b)を反復する間に前記患者によって経験される片頭痛の頭痛の前記頻度は、少なくとも60%軽減される、請求項11に記載の方法。
