- 前記多孔性勾配は、前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの上面から下面の方向に減少する平均孔径を有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 前記多孔性勾配は、前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの上面から下面の方向に増加する平均孔径を有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 前記多孔性勾配は、前記外側フレームの後壁から前壁の方向に減少する平均孔径を有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 前記多孔性勾配は、前記外側フレームの後壁から前壁の方向に増加する平均孔径を有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 前記多孔性勾配は、
前記後壁から前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの中央部分の方向及び前記前壁から前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの中央部分の方向に増加する平均孔径、並びに、
前記後壁から前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの中央部分の方向及び前記前壁から前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの中央部分の方向に減少する平均孔径
の少なくとも1つを有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の椎間ケージ。 - 前記外側フレームは、孔の所定の規則的なパターンを有する複数の層を有しており、前記複数の層は、前記複数の層の各々における孔の所定の規則的なパターンが前記外側フレーム内に前記多孔性勾配を形成するように互いに結合されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 前記多孔性勾配は、約5体積%〜約30体積%の範囲内の多孔性を有する第1の部分と、約30体積%〜約90体積%の範囲内の多孔性を有する第2の部分とを有していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 前記多孔性勾配は、約5μm〜約100 μmの平均直径の多孔性を有する第1の部分と、約100 μm〜約1000μmの平均直径の多孔性を有する第2の部分とを有していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 後壁、前壁、及び前記後壁と前記前壁との間に延びている一対の側壁を有している外側フレームと、
前記後壁、前記前壁及び前記一対の側壁の間の開放内部コア領域と、
前記後壁、前記前壁及び前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの内部に設けられて、隣り合う脊椎骨間の骨成長・固定を促進する多孔性勾配と
を備えていることを特徴とする椎間ケージ。 - 前記多孔性勾配は、約5体積%〜約30体積%の範囲内の多孔性を有する第1の部分と、約30体積%〜約90体積%の範囲内の多孔性を有する第2の部分とを有していることを特徴とする請求項14に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 前記多孔性勾配は、約5μm〜約100 μmの平均直径の多孔性を有する第1の部分と、約100 μm〜約1000μmの平均直径の多孔性を有する第2の部分とを有していることを特徴とする請求項14に記載の椎間ケージ。
- 前記多孔性勾配は、
前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの外面から内面の方向に減少する平均孔径、
前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの外面から内面の方向に増加する平均孔径、
前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの上面から下面の方向に減少する平均孔径、及び
前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの上面から下面の方向に増加する平均孔径
の少なくとも1つから選択されていることを特徴とする請求項14に記載の椎間ケージ。 - 隣り合う脊椎骨間の骨成長・固定を促進する方法であって、
椎間ケージを外科的処置により一対の隣り合う脊椎骨間に挿入し、
前記椎間ケージは、
後壁、前壁、及び前記後壁と前記前壁との間に延びている一対の側壁を有している外側フレームと、
前記後壁、前記前壁及び前記一対の側壁の間の開放内部コア領域と、
前記後壁、前記前壁及び前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの内部に設けられて、前記椎間ケージ内への体液及び骨材料の流れを向上させて隣り合う脊椎骨間の骨成長・固定を促進する多孔性勾配と
を備えていることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記多孔性勾配を、
前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの外面から内面の方向に減少する平均孔径、
前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの外面から内面の方向に増加する平均孔径、
前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの上面から下面の方向に減少する平均孔径、及び
前記一対の側壁の少なくとも1つの上面から下面の方向に増加する平均孔径
の少なくとも1つから選択することを特徴とする請求項18に記載の方法。 - 更に、前記開放内部コア領域内に同種移植片又は自家移植片の骨材料を置くことを特徴とする請求項18に記載の方法。
