Claims (4)
- 感光体ドラムと、
前記感光体ドラム上の静電潜像へトナーを供給する現像ローラーと、
前記感光体ドラムから転写されるトナーパッチを担持する像担持体と、
前記トナーパッチに光を照射し前記トナーパッチからの反射光を受光する反射型光学センサーと、
前記現像ローラーに印加される現像バイアスを設定するコントローラーとを備え、
前記コントローラーは、(a)キャリブレーション時の前記感光体ドラムの明電位を特定し、(b)前記現像バイアスを調整して、前記反射型光学センサーの出力に基づくトナー濃度が、目標濃度より低い中間基準濃度になる前記現像バイアスの値を中間基準現像バイアス値として特定し、(c)前記中間基準現像バイアス値とキャリブレーション時の前記明電位との差分である中間基準実効電位を特定し、(d)透過濃度が仮想的にゼロであるときの現像バイアスと前記感光体ドラムの明電位との差分である仮想ゼロ濃度実効電位と前記中間基準実効電位とに基づく線形補間によって前記目標濃度に対応する現像バイアス値を特定すること、
を特徴とする画像形成装置。 - 前記仮想ゼロ濃度実効電位は、ある条件下における実効電位に対する透過濃度の特性から線形補間で得られた、透過濃度を仮想的にゼロにしたときの実効電位であり、
前記実効電位は、前記条件下における現像バイアスと前記条件下における前記感光体ドラムの明電位との差分であること、
を特徴とする請求項1記載の画像形成装置。 - 前記仮想ゼロ濃度実効電位は、前記特性のうち、前記目標濃度と前記中間基準濃度との間の区間に少なくとも基づく線形補間で得られた、透過濃度を仮想的にゼロにしたときの実効電位であることを特徴とする請求項2記載の画像形成装置。
- 前記中間基準濃度は、前記現像バイアスに対する前記反射型光学センサーの出力に基づくトナー濃度の特性における飽和領域より低い所定の濃度であることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3のうちのいずれか1項記載の画像形成装置。
