Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a gas barrier film and an organic electroluminescence device (hereinafter referred to as an organic EL device). The gas barrier film can be applied to various devices such as electronic paper and liquid crystal display in addition to the organic EL device.
In recent years, a device using a film as a substrate is advantageous in that it is lighter and more flexible than a device using a glass substrate, and the substrate is less likely to be damaged. Is expected.
In order to take advantage of the fact that organic EL can be made extremely thin structurally, organic EL using a plastic film as a substrate has attracted attention. Organic EL is very weak to moisture and oxygen, and the problem that a defect called a dark spot (hereinafter abbreviated as DS) occurs when the light emitting material is altered or the electrode is oxidized by moisture or oxygen. There is. Therefore, when using a plastic film for the substrate, a transparent plastic film having gas barrier properties is used. The most common gas barrier film is a highly transparent gas barrier film in which an inorganic vapor deposition film made of silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide or the like is formed on the surface of a substrate made of a plastic film. Proposed.
For example, in
By the way, when the present inventors have laminated the inorganic compound vapor deposition layer and the gas barrier coating on the surface of the polymer resin substrate that has not been sufficiently flattened, the region of the uneven surface of the unevenness is obtained. It has been discovered that the gas barrier film is thinned, the gas barrier property is locally reduced, and the frequency of DS occurrence in the organic EL device is increased.
Here,
In addition, the unevenness of the polymer resin substrate can be flattened by making the gas barrier coating disposed above the anchor coat layer thick. However, when the gas barrier film is thickened, the amount of cure shrinkage of the gas barrier film increases in the gas barrier film manufacturing process, and the gas barrier film tends to crack. When cracks occur in the gas barrier coating, the gas barrier properties are impaired. Therefore, with the technique described in
Moreover, in the said
When pressure is applied to the gas barrier layer in this state, it is conceivable that cracks occur in the gas barrier layer starting from foreign matters or local protrusions. When cracking occurs in the gas barrier layer, moisture contained in the base film becomes permeable and DS is likely to occur early in the organic EL device. Therefore, even with the gas barrier film described in

If necessary, for example, various stabilizers, curing agents or crosslinking agents, fillers In addition, an additive such as other may be optionally added and sufficiently kneaded with a solvent, a diluent or the like to prepare a coating agent composition. And this coating agent composition is coated on the surface of the
The most preferable method of the
Examples of the silane coupling agent include those containing an isocyanate group such as γ-isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane and γ-isocyanatopropyltrimethoxysilane, those containing a mercapto group such as γ-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane, There are those containing amino groups such as aminopropyltriethoxysilane, γ-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, N-β- (aminoethyl) -γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, γ-phenylaminopropyltrimethoxysilane .

A polyol has two or more hydroxyl groups at a polymer terminal and is reacted with an isocyanate group of an isocyanate compound added later.

Coating agents that combine the above-described components alone or in combination are well known, such as isocyanate compounds, silane coupling agents, dispersants, stabilizers, viscosity modifiers, and colorants, as long as the barrier properties are not impaired. Additives can be added. For example, an isocyanate compound added to a coating agent has two or more isocyanate groups (NCO groups) in the molecule, such as tolylene diisocyanate (hereinafter referred to as TDI), triphenylmethane triisocyanate (hereinafter referred to as TDI). , TTI), and tetramethylxylene diisocyanate (hereinafter referred to as TMXDI), and polymers and derivatives thereof.

(5) Planarization layer The

<Effect of embodiment>
The embodiment of the present invention has the following effects.

<Evaluation>
About each gas barrier film produced in Examples 1-4 and Comparative Example 1, water vapor permeability and visible light transmittance were measured. Further, the organic EL devices produced in Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 were left in an environment of 60 ° C. and 90% RH, and the size and frequency of occurrence of DS were confirmed. The size of the DS was judged as ◯ when the average diameter size was less than 100 μm, and as x when the average diameter size was 100 μm or more. The occurrence frequency of DS was determined to be ◯ when the number of DS having a diameter size of 100 μm or more was 10/10 cm □ or less, and × otherwise.

The planar shape of the DS is almost a perfect circle or almost a perfect circle, but may be an ellipse or a polygon. Therefore, in this evaluation, when the planar shape of the DS is an ellipse, the length in the longitudinal direction of the ellipse is defined as the “diameter”. Further, when the planar shape of the DS is a polygon, the longest length passing through the center of gravity of the polygon is defined as the “diameter”.
About each gas barrier film produced in Examples 1-4 and the comparative example, the evaluation result of water vapor permeability and visible light transmittance is described in Table 1, and the evaluation result of DS is described in Table 2.

Further, the organic EL device produced in Comparative Example 1 is a constant temperature and humidity left 60 hrs @ 60 ° C. 90% RH, the average diameter size of DS is 100 μm or more, the DS occurrence frequency is 10/10 cm □ or more, DS The evaluation results were not excellent. In contrast, the organic EL devices produced in Examples 1 to 4 were excellent in DS evaluation results. Further, the DS occurrence frequency is further increased by forming a buffer layer on the second inorganic compound layer as in Example 2 or by forming a third inorganic compound layer on the buffer layer as in Example 3.
