Abstract
Description
(グリオキサール化ポリアクリルアミド試料)
高電荷グリオキサール化ポリアクリルアミド(GPAM)試料を、米国特許第3556932号明細書、米国特許第4605702号明細書、米国特許8435382号明細書、及び米国特許出願公開第2009/0071618明細書で検討されているポリ(アクリルアミド-co-ジメチルジアリルアンモニウム)基材高分子とグリオキサールとの間の架橋反応によって製造した。表1はGPAM試料の特性を示している。
FENNOBOND 85は、分子量が約300,000ダルトンで、電荷密度が約-1.3meq/gである市販のアニオン性ポリアクリルアミドである。
まず、脱イオン水を用いて強力樹脂の全てを1.0重量%にまで希釈し、希塩酸又は希水酸化ナトリウムでpHを7.0に調節した。その後、0.5gの希釈した強力樹脂と9.5gの脱イオン水とをミューテック(Mutek)電荷滴定装置に入れた。0.001meq PVSK溶液を、カチオン性強力樹脂の滴定液として、0.001meq ポリDADMAC溶液をアニオン性強力樹脂の滴定液として使用した。溶液の電荷を中性にするのに用いられた滴定液の量を記録した。製品の電荷密度をそれより計算し、結果を表1に示す。
漂白広葉樹と漂白針葉樹とのパルプ混合物を用いてハンドシートを製造した。脱イオン水を製造に際して用い、150ppmの硫酸ナトリウムと35ppmの塩化カルシウムを追加投入した。オーバーヘッド攪拌機で混合しながら、8.7gのセルロース繊維を含有している固形分0.6%のバッチを、脱イオン水で1%に希釈された様々な強化剤試料(後ほど記載)で処理した。強化剤を添加した後に、パルプスラリーを30秒間混合した。そして、標準(8”x8”)的なノーベルアンドウッズ(Nobel and Woods)ハンドシート製造機を用いて坪量52lbs/3000ft2(0.51Pa)を目標とした4枚の3g紙シートを形成した。ロール空気圧搾機のニップにおけるフェルトの間にハンドシートを挟んで約15psigで圧縮し、ロータリドライヤー上で110℃にて乾燥した。オーブンを用いて110℃で紙料を10分間硬化させ、標準的なTAPPI制御室で一晩かけて状態を整えた。
試料を一定の速度で延伸して引張強さを測定し、試料が破損するのに要した単位幅当たりの力を記録した。この試験手順はTAPPI試験法T494(2001)を参照しており、この参照によってこの試験法を本願明細書に取り入れ、記載したように試験法を変更した。
この試験法は、2秒間水と接触させた紙又は板紙の初期湿潤引張強さを測定するために用いられた。1インチ幅の紙片試料を引張試験機に置き、絵筆を用いて紙片の両側を蒸留水で湿らせた。2秒間の接触時間の後、TAPPI試験法494(2001)の6.8〜6.10に説明されているようにして紙片を引き伸ばした。初期湿潤引張強さは、湿った直後の加工処理中又は使用中にストレスを受けるティッシュ製品、ペーパータオル、その他の紙製品の性能特性を評価するのに有用である。この方法は米国特許第4,233,411号明細書を参考にしたものであり、この参照によって本願明細書に組み入れる。
この試験法は、30分間という長い時間水と接触させた紙又は板紙の引張強さを測定するのに用いられる。1インチ幅の紙片試料を30分間水に浸漬させた後に引張試験機に置いた。TAPPI試験法494(2001)の6.8〜6.10に説明されているようにして紙片を引き伸ばした。永久湿潤引張強さが低いことは、当該紙製品を、大きな機械的エネルギーを要することなく、水中で再パルプ化することができ、又は下水システムを詰まらせることなく容易に水に分散させることができることを示している。
GPAMの性能はパルプ懸濁液のアルカリレベルに依存することは広く認知されていた。アルカリ度が高くなるにつれ、通常、GPAM製品による紙力増加が抑制される。表3に示されているように、アルカリ度がpH7.5で、9lb/tonのFENNOBOND 3000を100ppm使用しても、引張強さの増加はなかった。これに対して、FENNOBOND 85と例2との組合せによると、乾燥引張強さも湿潤引張強さも共に大きく増加する。引張強さの増加は、さらに、FENNOBOND 85に対するGPAMの重量比に依存する。重量比が1:1で、紙製品は最も高い乾燥引張強さと最も高い湿潤引張強さとを示した。GPAM製品は、APAMアクリルアミド官能基と反応して共有結合を形成することのできるアルデヒド官能基を含んでいる。これらを混合すると、カチオン性GPAMとAPAMとは共に静電気的相互作用と共有結合的相互作用とを介して強力な錯体を形成する。表3に示されているように、この強力な錯体の形成によって、最適なGPAM/APAM比で最も大きな強度の増加を示した。

- アニオン性ポリアクリルアミド(APAM)と高電荷カチオン性グリオキシレート化ポリアクリルアミド(GPAM)とを含有する組成物であって、該高電荷カチオン性グリオキシレート化ポリアミドが0.4meq/gを超えるカチオン電荷密度を有することを特徴とする組成物。
- 前記アニオン性ポリアクリルアミドが、1000〜1,000,000ダルトンの範囲などの、500〜60,000,000ダルトンの範囲の分子量を有していることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記高電荷カチオン性グリオキシレート化ポリアクリルアミドのカチオン性ポリアクリルアミド基材高分子が、1000〜100,000ダルトンの範囲などの、500〜1,000,000ダルトンの範囲の分子量を有していることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記高電荷カチオン性グリオキシレート化ポリアクリルアミドが、0.6〜4.0meq/gの範囲などの、0.4〜5meq/gの範囲のカチオン電荷密度を有していることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記APAMに対する前記GPAMの割合は、0.01:1〜1:0.1の範囲などの、0.01:1〜1:0.1の範囲にあることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記高電荷カチオン性グリオキシレート化ポリアクリルアミドがカチオン性モノマーである塩化ジアリルジメチルアンモニウム(DADMAC)を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の組成物。

- 前記高電荷カチオン性グリオキシレート化ポリアクリルアミドが、2-ビニルピリジン、4-ビニルピリジン、2-メチル-5-ビニルピリジン、塩化2-ビニル-N-メチルピリジニウム、塩化p-ビニルフェニルトリメチルアンモニウム、塩化p-ビニルベンジルトリメチルアンモニウム、2-(ジメチルアミノ)エチルメタクリレート、塩化トリメチル(p-ビニルベンジル)アンモニウム、p-ジメチルアミノエチルスチレン、ジメチルアミノプロピルアクリルアミド、メチル硫酸2-メチルアクロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウム、塩化3-アクリルアミド-3-メチルブチルトリメチルアンモニウム、2-(ジメチルアミノ)エチルアクリレート、塩化[2-(アクリルアミド)エチル]トリメチルアンモニウム、塩化[2-(メタクリルアミド)エチル]トリメチルアンモニウム、塩化[3-(アクリルアミド)プロピル]トリメチルアンモニウム、塩化[3-(メタクリルアミド)プロピル]トリメチルアンモニウム、N-メチル-2-ビニルピリジニウム、N-メチル-4-ビニルピリジニウム、塩化[2-(アクリロイルオキシ)エチル]トリメチルアンモニウム、塩化[2-(メタクリロイルオキシ)エチル]トリメチルアンモニウム、塩化[3-(アクリロイルオキシ)プロピル]トリメチルアンモニウム、塩化[3-(メタクリロイルオキシ)プロピル]トリメチルアンモニウム、及びこれらの組合せから選択されるカチオン性モノマーを含むことを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記アニオン性ポリアクリルアミド(APAM)が、アクリル酸並びにアクリル酸ナトリウム及びアクリル酸アンモニウム等の塩、メタクリル酸並びにメタクリル酸ナトリウム及びメタクリル酸アンモニウム等の塩、2-アクリルアミド-2-メチルプロパンスルホン酸(AMPS)、AMPSのナトリウム塩、ビニルスルホン酸ナトリウム、スチレンスルホン酸、マレイン酸並びにそのナトリウム塩及びアンモニウム塩等の塩、スルホン酸塩、イタコン酸塩、スルホプロピルアクリレート若しくはメタクリレート、又はこれらの若しくは他の重合可能なカルボン酸若しくはスルホン酸の水に可溶な若しくは分散可能な形態のもの、又はこれらの組合せから選択されるアニオン性モノマーを含むことを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物をパルプ懸濁液に添加し、該パルプを紙に形成することを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物を、pHが6.5を超える、又はアルカリ濃度が少なくとも30ppmであるパルプ懸濁液に添加することを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物が、パルプ叩解の前若しくは後、ファンポンプで、ヘッドボックスの前又はヘッドボックスで、又はスプレー、印刷、塗布若しくは形成されたウェブへの含浸によってパルプに添加されることを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物が、予備形成された紙又は乾燥枚葉紙に添加されることを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 請求項9に記載の方法で得られた紙又はパルプ製品。
