Abstract
Description
ここで図18に示すように、薄肉部35bの破断部から噴出したガスは、同図に矢線で示しているように、負極端子板32のガス抜き孔32cから部品間に存在する僅かな隙間を抜けて電池外部に放出される。このため、何かの理由で電池内部に大量のガスが発生した場合はガスの放出が間に合わず、ガスの圧力が上昇してワッシャ50が脱離してしまう可能性がある。
試験1では、以上に説明したワッシャ50を用いて、ワッシャ50のガス抜き孔50dの面積が異なる複数種のアルカリ電池1のサンプルを作製し、ワッシャ50のガス抜き孔50dの面積、射出成形によるワッシャ50の成形状態、及びガスが大量に発生した際のワッシャ50の脱離の状況の関係について調べた。サンプルは上記種類ごとに複数個(30個)作製した。また各種類のサンプルには、前述したタイプ(1)〜(3)の異なるワッシャ50を備えたサンプルを混在させた。
前述したタイプ(1)〜(3)のワッシャ50は、いずれもフランジ部50cにガス抜き孔50dを設けているが、ワッシャ50の構成は、例えば、以下に示すような構成としてもよい。
続いて、タイプ(4)並びにタイプ(5)のワッシャ50を用いたアルカリ電池1のサンプルを作製し、射出成形によるワッシャ50の成形状態、並びにガスが大量に発生した際のワッシャ50の脱離の状況について検証した。サンプルは、空隙の面積(%)(後述)を変えた3種類のものを作製(種類ごとに複数個(30個)ずつ作製)した。尚、上記空隙の面積(%)は、正極缶11の開口部を当該正極缶11の円筒軸の方向から眺めたときの、負極端子板32の皿状の部分の周側面とワッシャ50のワッシャボス部50aの内側面(タイプ(4)の場合は内周面50f、タイプ(5)の場合は凹部50g)との間に形成される空隙の面積(投影面積)の、正極缶11の開口部を円筒軸の方向から眺めたときの、正極缶11の縁部の湾曲した部分の最高部を結ぶ環状の稜線と負極端子板32の周側面32bとで囲まれる平面領域の面積(投影面積)に対する割合(%)をいう。
Claims (9)
- 発電要素が収納される有底円筒状の電池缶、周囲に縁部が形成された外観略皿状の端子板、及び封口ガスケットを備え、
前記電池缶の開口側を上方とした場合に、前記封口ガスケットは前記端子板よりも下方に設けられ、
前記端子板及び前記封口ガスケットは、夫々の縁部が前記電池缶の縁部とともにカシメ加工されることにより、前記電池缶の開口に設けられ、
前記端子板の前記皿状の部分の周側面と、前記カシメ加工により前記電池缶の円筒軸方向に湾曲した前記電池缶の前記縁部との間に間隙が形成され、
円筒状のボス部と、前記ボス部の上端面の周囲に設けられる環状のフランジ部とを有し、前記間隙に前記ボス部を嵌着させて前記電池缶の開口部に組み付けられるワッシャを備え、
前記端子板の前記周側面の前記間隙に面する部分には、前記端子板と前記封口ガスケットとの間に存在する空間のガスを放出するための第1のガス抜き孔が形成され、
前記電池缶の前記縁部の先端は、前記カシメ加工によってやや下方を向く程度に湾曲し、
前記ワッシャは、前記電池缶の開口部に組み付けられた状態で、前記電池缶の前記湾曲した縁部の最高部を結ぶ環状の稜線と前記端子板の前記周側面とで囲まれた範囲内に、前記第1のガス抜き孔から前記間隙に流入したガスを当該筒型電池の外部に放出するためのガス抜き構造を有する
ことを特徴とする筒型電池。 - 請求項1に記載の筒型電池であって、
前記ワッシャは、前記ガス抜き構造として、前記フランジ部の前記ボス部の近傍に、前記ボス部の外周面に沿って所定の長さで延出する第2のガス抜き孔を有する
ことを特徴とする筒型電池。 - 請求項2に記載の筒型電池であって、
前記ワッシャは、前記ボス部の外周面に沿って所定の間隔を空けて設けられた複数の前記第2のガス抜き孔を有することを特徴とする筒型電池。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の筒型電池であって、
前記電池缶の開口部を当該電極缶の円筒軸の方向から眺めたときの前記第2のガス抜き孔の総面積が、前記電池缶の開口部を前記円筒軸の方向から眺めたときの、前記電池缶の縁部の前記湾曲した部分の最高部を結ぶ環状の稜線と前記端子板の前記周側面とで囲まれる平面領域の面積の7〜20%である
ことを特徴とする筒型電池。 - 請求項1に記載の筒型電池であって、
前記ワッシャは、前記ガス抜き構造として、前記ボス部の内周面に形成された凸部を有することを特徴とする筒型電池。 - 請求項5に記載の筒型電池であって、
前記ワッシャは、前記ボス部の内周面に沿って所定の間隔を空けて設けられた複数の前記凸部を有することを特徴とする筒型電池。 - 請求項1に記載の筒型電池であって、
前記ワッシャは、前記ガス抜き構造として、前記ボス部の内周面に形成された凹部を有することを特徴とする筒型電池。 - 請求項7に記載の筒型電池であって、
前記ワッシャは、前記ボス部の内周面に沿って所定の間隔を空けて設けられた複数の前記凹部を有することを特徴とする筒型電池。 - 請求項5〜8のいずれか一項に記載の筒型電池であって、
前記電池缶の開口部を当該電極缶の円筒軸の方向から眺めたときの、前記端子板の前記皿状の部分の周側面と前記ワッシャの前記ボス部の内側面との間に形成される空隙の面積が、前記電池缶の開口部を前記円筒軸の方向から眺めたときの、前記電池缶の縁部の前記湾曲した部分の最高部を結ぶ環状の稜線と前記端子板の前記周側面とで囲まれる平面領域の面積の6%以上であることを特徴とする筒型電池。
