Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a liquid ejection apparatus and a method for manufacturing the liquid ejection apparatus.
Patent Document 1 discloses an ink jet head that ejects ink from a nozzle as a liquid ejecting apparatus. The inkjet head is provided on a synthetic resin nozzle plate in which a plurality of nozzles are formed, a metal channel forming plate in which an ink channel communicating with the plurality of nozzles is formed, and a channel forming plate. It has a piezoelectric element. The ink jet head causes the ink to be ejected from the nozzles by applying a pressure to the ink in the ink flow path using a piezoelectric element.
In the ink jet head of the above-mentioned patent document 1, an ink repellent film for preventing ink droplets from adhering to the periphery of the ejection port on the ink ejection surface of the nozzle plate where the ejection ports of the plurality of nozzles are arranged Is formed. In addition, on the ink ejection surface of the nozzle plate, two long convex portions (ridges) that are arranged so as to sandwich the nozzle row and extend in the nozzle row direction are formed. This projection prevents the recording paper from colliding with the nozzle outlet even when the recording paper is lifted due to paper jam or the like, and damages the ink-repellent film around the edge of the outlet or the outlet. Is prevented.
Said nozzle plate is manufactured in the following processes. First, a synthetic resin film such as polyimide is prepared as a synthetic resin substrate to be a nozzle plate. An ink repellent film is formed by applying an ink repellent material to one surface of the synthetic resin film and drying it by heating. Next, a plurality of nozzles are formed by laser processing on the synthetic resin film on which the ink repellent film is formed. Next, the synthetic resin film (nozzle plate) on which the plurality of nozzles are formed is joined to the flow path forming plate in which the flow path holes are formed. After joining, a mold is applied to the ink ejection surface of the nozzle plate on which the ink-repellent film is formed, and a hot press is performed to form convex portions on the ink ejection surface.
In patent document 1, since the convex part is formed in the nozzle plate made of synthetic resin, the material of the convex part is also synthetic resin. However, since the convex part of a synthetic resin has low intensity | strength, it is inferior to durability. That is, when the recording paper repeatedly hits the convex portion, the convex portion is gradually scraped away. Further, when the recording paper collides with the convex portion with a large force, the convex portion may be lost.
Moreover, although the convex part is formed in the synthetic resin board | substrate used as a nozzle plate by hot press, when a board | substrate is heated at the time of hot press, a board | substrate will warp at the time of shaping | molding. If it is going to suppress this curvature, it will become difficult to produce a big deformation | transformation to a board | substrate, and the height of a convex part will become small. If the height of the convex portion is small, the recording paper easily gets over the convex portion, so that the effect of protecting the periphery of the discharge port becomes low.
Further, in Patent Document 1, a synthetic resin substrate serving as a nozzle plate is bonded to a flow path forming plate, and then hot pressing is performed on the ink discharge surface. As a result, the synthetic resin substrate may peel off from the flow path forming plate. With respect to this point, it is also possible to first form a convex portion on a synthetic resin substrate by hot pressing and then adhere to the flow path forming plate. Here, in order to reliably protect the periphery of the discharge port, it is desirable that the convex portion be formed as close to the discharge port as possible. However, if a convex part is formed near the discharge port of the synthetic resin substrate before joining to the flow path forming plate, the convex part is crushed when this substrate is joined to the flow path forming plate. Therefore, it becomes impossible to press around the discharge port. Therefore, it becomes difficult to reliably bond the synthetic resin substrate to the flow path forming plate.
An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid ejection device in which a convex portion is arranged near the ejection port on the liquid ejection surface so that the periphery of the ejection port can be reliably protected, and the durability of the convex portion is excellent. That is.
A liquid ejection apparatus according to a first aspect includes a plurality of nozzles arranged along a predetermined nozzle arrangement direction, and a flow channel structure in which a liquid flow channel communicating with the plurality of nozzles is formed.
The flow path structure is bonded to a synthetic resin nozzle plate in which the plurality of nozzles are formed and stacked on the nozzle plate, and communicates with the plurality of nozzles in the liquid flow path. And a metal channel plate in which a plurality of individual channel parts are formed, and a liquid in which discharge ports of the plurality of nozzles of the nozzle plate are arranged in the laminate. A plurality of convex portions protruding from the discharge surface are arranged alongside the plurality of nozzles along the nozzle arrangement direction, and the plurality of convex portions are formed by pressing from the flow path plate side to the stacked body. , Each of which is formed.
In the present invention, the laminated body of the synthetic resin nozzle plate and the metal flow path plate is formed with a plurality of protrusions protruding from the liquid discharge surface of the nozzle plate. The plurality of convex portions are arranged side by side with the plurality of nozzles along the nozzle arrangement direction. Therefore, the periphery of the discharge port of each nozzle is reliably protected by the convex part located in the vicinity.
Moreover, said convex part is each formed by performing the press work from the flow-path plate side with respect to a laminated body. Therefore, each convex part is formed by the metal part and the synthetic resin part which covers it. Since the metal portion is present inside the convex portion, the strength of the convex portion is increased and the durability is excellent. Moreover, since the metal part is contained in the laminated body which is the object of press work, the shape of the convex part after press molding is maintained by plastic deformation of the metal part at the time of press work. Furthermore, in the present invention, it is not necessary to heat the synthetic resin plate when the laminate is pressed, so that the nozzle plate is not warped by heating. That is, since it is not necessary to worry about the warpage of the nozzle plate, it is possible to largely deform the laminate by press working to form a convex portion that largely protrudes from the liquid ejection surface near the nozzle.
In a liquid ejection device according to a second aspect, in the first aspect, the flow path plate is made of a rolled material formed by rolling, and the plurality of nozzles are arranged along a rolling direction of the flow path plate. It is characterized by being.
When the flow path plate is a rolled metal material manufactured through a rolling process, the metal material constituting the flow path plate is greatly expanded in the rolling direction at the time of pressing to form the convex portion. For this reason, the convex part formed in the laminate tends to be long in the rolling direction. In this case, assuming that the convex portion and the nozzle are aligned in the rolling direction of the flow path plate, when the metal material constituting the flow path plate is expanded in the rolling direction during pressing, the flow is There is a possibility that the individual flow path portion formed in the path plate and communicating with the nozzle is also deformed, and the shape of the individual flow path portion is changed or the position is shifted. In this regard, in the present invention, both the nozzle arrangement direction and the convex portion arrangement direction are the rolling direction, and the nozzle row and the convex row are arranged in a direction intersecting the rolling direction. Therefore, even when the flow path plate is greatly deformed in the rolling direction when the convex portion is formed by press working, the influence on the individual flow path portion is reduced.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the first or second aspect of the invention, the flow path plate is made of a rolled material formed by rolling, and the plurality of convex portions are arranged in the nozzle arrangement direction and the nozzle. Arranged in two directions, a direction orthogonal to the arrangement direction, and the number of protrusions arranged in the nozzle arrangement direction and the number of protrusions arranged in the direction orthogonal to the nozzle arrangement direction. The two directions are different in that the direction in which the number of the convex portions is arranged is along the rolling direction of the flow path plate.
The convex portion is a portion where the laminate is locally bent and deformed by press working. For this reason, when the plurality of convex portions are arranged in one direction, the laminate is easily expanded and contracted along the arrangement direction. In addition, when the two arrays are arranged in two directions, that is, the nozzle array direction and the orthogonal direction, and the number of convex portions is different in the two directions, the laminate extends along the direction in which the number of convex portions is large. Easy to shrink. That is, it can be said that the laminate is likely to warp along a direction in which the number of convex portions is arranged. On the other hand, when the flow path plate is a rolled material, since the flow path plate is stretched in the rolling direction, it is difficult to expand and contract in the rolling direction. Then, if the direction with many arrangement | sequences of a convex part is along a rolling direction, the curvature of the laminated body by a convex part being formed will be suppressed.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the liquid ejection device according to any one of the first to third aspects, the flow path plate includes a thin portion having a partially reduced thickness, and the thin wall portion of the flow path plate is provided. The convex portion is formed by pressing the portion, and the individual flow path portion is formed in a thick portion thicker than the thin portion of the flow path plate. is there.
In the present invention, since the thin portion of the flow path plate is pressed to form a convex portion, deformation due to the press processing extends beyond the boundary between the thin portion and the thick portion to the thick portion side. It is difficult and the range in which deformation spreads is limited. For this reason, it is possible to reduce the influence of the deformation of the thin wall portion during the press working on the individual flow channel portion formed in the thick wall portion of the flow channel plate.
The liquid ejection device according to a fifth aspect of the present invention is the liquid ejecting apparatus according to the fourth aspect, wherein a concave portion is formed on the side of the flow path plate opposite to the nozzle plate, and the concave portion of the flow path plate is formed. The thin portion is characterized in that it is the thin portion.
When a recess is formed on the nozzle plate side of the flow path plate, a gap is formed between the thin portion of the flow path plate and the nozzle plate. In this case, when the thin plate portion is pressed from the flow path plate side, it becomes difficult to form the convex portion having the intended shape due to the influence of the gap. In the present invention, since the concave portion is formed on the side opposite to the nozzle plate of the flow path plate, that is, the side to be pressed, there is no gap between the thin portion of the flow path plate and the nozzle plate. There is no problem.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the liquid ejecting apparatus according to the fifth aspect, the flow path structure includes a liquid chamber forming member in which a common liquid chamber is formed in common communication with the plurality of nozzles. The surface of the laminated body on the side opposite to the nozzle plate is disposed in contact with one wall portion of the liquid chamber forming member that divides the common liquid chamber, and the liquid chamber forming member A space exists between one wall portion and the thin portion of the flow path plate.
In the present invention, since the recess is formed in the flow path plate, there is a space between the thin wall portion of the flow path plate and one wall portion that defines the common liquid chamber of the liquid chamber forming member. Yes. Thereby, the one wall portion of the liquid chamber forming member can be deformed. Therefore, when a pressure fluctuation occurs in the liquid in the common liquid chamber, the wall part can be deformed to absorb the pressure fluctuation. In other words, in the present invention, the flow path plate is used for two purposes: forming a thin portion for forming a convex portion by pressing and securing a space for deforming one wall portion of the common liquid chamber. A recess is formed on the surface.
According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for manufacturing a liquid ejection apparatus, comprising: a plurality of nozzles arranged along a predetermined nozzle arrangement direction; and a flow channel structure in which a liquid flow channel communicating with the plurality of nozzles is formed. A method for manufacturing a liquid ejection device,
The synthetic resin first plate included in the flow channel structure and formed with the plurality of nozzles is also included in the flow channel structure and communicates with the plurality of nozzles in the liquid flow channel. A stacking step of stacking and joining a metal second plate in which a plurality of individual flow path portions are formed, and after the stacking step, the stacked body of the first plate and the second plate, Forming a plurality of convex portions projecting from the liquid ejection surface of the plate on which the ejection ports of the plurality of nozzles are arranged along the nozzle arrangement direction, and forming the convex portions. In the step, the plurality of convex portions are formed by pressing the laminated body from the second plate side.
In the present invention, first, a synthetic resin first plate in which a plurality of nozzles are formed and a metal second plate in which a plurality of individual flow path portions are formed are stacked. Next, a plurality of convex portions projecting from the liquid ejection surface of the first plate are formed on the laminate. Here, the plurality of convex portions are formed by pressing the laminated body from the second plate side. Thereby, each convex part is formed with the synthetic resin part which covers a metal part and it. Since the metal portion is present inside the convex portion, the strength of the convex portion is increased and the durability is excellent. Moreover, the shape of each convex part is maintained after press molding by carrying out the plastic deformation of the metal 2nd plate in the case of press work. Furthermore, in the present invention, it is not necessary to heat the synthetic resin plate when pressing the laminated body, so that the nozzle plate is not warped by heating. Therefore, it is possible to greatly deform the laminate by press working to form a convex portion that protrudes greatly from the liquid ejection surface near the nozzle.
According to an eighth aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for manufacturing a liquid ejection apparatus according to the seventh aspect, further comprising: a thin portion forming step of forming a thin portion having a partially reduced thickness on the second plate; In the portion forming step, the plurality of convex portions are formed on the laminate by pressing the thin portion of the second plate.
In the present invention, a thin portion is formed on the first metal plate, and the thin portion is pressed to form a plurality of convex portions. When press processing is performed on the thin portion of the first plate, deformation due to the press processing is difficult to spread to the thick portion side beyond the boundary between the thin portion and the thick portion, so the range in which the deformation spreads is limited.
According to a ninth aspect of the invention, in the seventh or eighth invention, in the method of manufacturing the liquid ejection device, in the convex portion forming step, a punch is pushed into the second plate with respect to the stacked body, and the convex portion is formed. The punch has a tapered tapered portion provided at a tip portion and a straight portion connected to the tapered portion, and only the tapered portion of the punch is pushed into the second plate, and the straight portion is formed. It is characterized by not pushing in.
In the present invention, when the punch is pressed against the second plate, only the tapered tapered portion is pushed into the second plate, and is not pushed into the straight portion where the diameter does not change. Therefore, the shear deformation generated in the second plate is small, and the second plate can be prevented from breaking.
According to a tenth aspect of the present invention, there is provided the method for manufacturing a liquid ejection apparatus according to the ninth aspect, wherein no processing oil is used when the press working is performed in the convex portion forming step.
By pushing the punch only up to the taper portion, the friction between the punch and the second plate is reduced. Therefore, it is possible to perform processing without using processing oil for lubrication, and a washing step of washing away the processing oil attached to the second plate after pressing is not necessary.
According to an eleventh aspect of the present invention, there is provided the method for manufacturing a liquid ejection device according to the ninth or tenth aspect, wherein in the convex portion forming step, the stripper is not installed on the second plate, The protrusion is formed by pressing a punch into the second plate.
In general press work, a stripper is often installed on the surface of the workpiece against which the punch is pressed, in order to reliably remove the punch after pressing from the workpiece or to prevent the workpiece from warping. . However, when a foreign object is bitten between the workpiece and the stripper, a dent may be generated at that portion. In this respect, in the present invention, since the punch is pushed into the second plate only up to the taper portion of the punch, the punch can be easily pulled out from the second plate, and the warpage generated in the second plate by press working is small. . Therefore, in the present invention, by preventing the stripper from being installed on the second plate, it is possible to prevent dents from being generated on the second plate.
Next, an embodiment of the present invention will be described. The present embodiment is an example in which the present invention is applied to an inkjet head as a liquid ejection apparatus. First, a schematic configuration of an ink jet printer provided with an ink jet head will be described. FIG. 1 is a schematic plan view of the ink jet printer of the present embodiment. In the following, the front side in FIG. 1 is defined as the upper side, and the other side of the page is defined as the lower side, and the explanation will be made using direction words “up” and “down” as appropriate. As shown in FIG. 1, the ink jet printer 1 includes a platen 2, a

The
The

(Flow path unit)
As shown in FIG. 4, the

The
The
As shown in FIG. 2, four ink supply holes 45 are formed side by side in the scanning direction in the
As shown in FIG. 4, of the four
A plurality of
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the

By the way, when the
As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, a plurality of
Two
As described above, the plurality of
Details of the configuration of the
As can be seen from FIG. 4, each
In order to reliably prevent the
As described above, since the
(Piezoelectric actuator)
As shown in FIGS. 2 to 4, the
The plurality of
The operation of the

(Nozzle formation process)
Next, as shown in FIG. 6D, laser processing is performed on the
(Projection forming process)
Next, as illustrated in FIG. 6E, the
As shown in FIG. 6 (e), the
Also, in general press work, a stripper should be installed on the surface of the workpiece against the punch for the purpose of reliably removing the punch after pressing from the workpiece or preventing the workpiece from warping. There are many. However, when a foreign object is bitten between the workpiece and the stripper, a dent may be generated at that portion. In this respect, in the present embodiment, since the
Thus, in this embodiment, the some
The
About the relationship between the rolling direction of the

In the present embodiment described above, the
Next, modified embodiments in which various modifications are made to the embodiment will be described. However, components having the same configuration as in the above embodiment are given the same reference numerals and description thereof is omitted as appropriate.
1] The shape of the
Further, it is not always necessary that the
2] The shape of the
3] The formation position of the
Moreover, in the said embodiment, the recessed
4] In the above embodiment, the plurality of
5] In the above-described embodiment, the synthetic resin plate serving as the
6] The
The embodiments described above and modifications thereof apply the present invention to an ink jet head that prints an image or the like by ejecting ink onto a recording sheet, but is used for various purposes other than printing an image or the like.
