さらにまた目的として近いもので24時間対応の自動受付機があり、重量測定、形状大きさ認識、種類入力、中身評価額設定、料金算出と決済などの機能を備えているものもある(特許文献3参照)。

現状行われている作業は発送者が郵便物に発送人名と受取人名をそれぞれまちまちの方法で表記し、その上で「書留・特定記録郵便物等差出票兼受領証」の発送者名・受取人欄に手書き記入して郵便局に持ち込み、郵便局窓口担当者は持ち込まれた郵便物に問合せ番号ラベルを貼付し、「書留・特定記録郵便物等差出票兼受領証」の問合せ番号欄へ1件ずつ手書き記入するか郵便物の発送人と問合せ番号箇所を写真撮影してイメージデータをプリンタに送信したものを1件ずつ受領書として発行し、さらにその受領書に受取人名を手書き記入している。

ロ、差出人は「受取人住所録」に受取人の住所情報等を登録し、「宛名印字ソフト」を使用して郵便局から購入する宛名ラベルに手持ちのPCとプリンタで受取人情報と書留又は簡易書留の種別を印字発行する。プリンタは推奨機種を使用する。図2参照。
ハ、発行された宛名ラベルは封筒上の規定の範囲内に規定の方向で差出人の手で貼付し、差出人登録カードと一緒に郵便局に持参する。図3参照。

問合せ番号ラベルが取られないと次の操作に移れないシステムとする。図4・図5・図9・図10・図12参照。
ト、以上の操作を件数分繰り返したのち、最後に終了を押すと件数分のレシートを打ち出すのですべての封筒とレシートを持って窓口に行く。
なお、受付機前に差出人が立った際に人感センサーが働き、離れる際に読取り台(3)上、仮置き台上(8,9)、ラベルプリンタ(6)・レシートプリンタ(7)に忘れ物がある場合にアラームで差出人に知らせることで放置によるトラブルを防止する。図4・図5・図11・図13参照。
