Claims (19)
- 第1のワークと第2のワークとを摩擦攪拌接合する方法であって、
回転可能なピンを備える機械を提供するステップと、
前記第1のワークと前記第2のワークとを接合部に沿って並置するステップと、
前記接合部の背面に金床を提供するステップであって、前記金床は(i)ベース組成を有するベース部と、(ii)第1の組成から前記ベース組成へ組成が変化する犠牲材料とを含むステップと、
前記ピンを回転するステップと、
前記回転するピンを前記接合部に挿入するステップと、
(i)前記第1のワーク及び前記第2のワークと、(ii)前記犠牲材料とを摩擦攪拌接合する条件下で、前記ピンを前記接合部に沿って移動し、シームを形成するステップと、
前記シームから前記ピンを取り出すステップと、
前記接合部の前記背面において前記シームから前記犠牲材料の一部を除去するステップとを含む方法。 - 前記犠牲材料の硬度値は、前記第1のワークの硬度値の10%以内である請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記犠牲材料の熱膨張係数は、前記第1のワークの熱膨張係数の10%以内である請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記犠牲材料は、前記金床の溝内に配置される請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記接合部が前記溝の上に来るように、前記金床を方向付けるステップを更に含む請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記金床は、前記犠牲材料と取り外し可能に結合した非犠牲のベース部を含み、前記ベース部の化学組成が前記犠牲材料とは異なる請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記犠牲材料は、前記金床のリッジに配置される請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記犠牲材料が前記接合部の上に来るように、前記金床を方向付けるステップを更に含む請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記第1のワーク及び前記第2のワークは、円筒状のパイプセグメントである請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記接合部の形状に合った曲面を有する前記金床を提供するステップを更に含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 主要面が無孔である前記金床を提供するステップを更に含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記金床の分離可能な外層として前記犠牲材料を提供するステップを更に含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 第1のワークと第2のワークとの接合用の犠牲金床であって、
溝を有するベース部と、
前記溝に配置される犠牲材料であって、前記第1のワーク及び前記第2のワークと、摩擦攪拌接合によって溶接されてシームを形成するように製造されている犠牲材料とを含み、
前記犠牲材料の組成は、前記ベース部の組成と異なる犠牲金床。 - 前記犠牲材料の前記組成は、金属を含む請求項13に記載の金床。
- 前記犠牲材料の前記組成は、前記第1のワーク及び前記第2のワークの少なくとも1つの組成と同一である請求項13に記載の金床。
- 前記金床は、第1のワークと第2のワークとの間の接合部の第2の曲面に相補的な第1の曲面を含む請求項13に記載の金床。
- 前記金床の熱伝導率は、前記第1のワークの熱伝導率の10%以内である請求項16に記載の金床。
- 前記金床の熱容量は、前記第1のワークの熱容量の5%以内である請求項16に記載の金床。
- 前記犠牲材料は、前記ベース部と一体的に形成される請求項13に記載の金床。
