Abstract
Description
また、ジルコニウム合金の被覆は蒸気と反応する間に崩壊して、核燃料顆粒をスチール原子炉の底部に落とし、このようになれば、まだ自らの機能ができる他の全ての従来の核反応制御メカニズムから外れるようになる。この場合の燃料温度はさらに急速に上昇し続け、結局、燃料が溶融して原子炉の底部にプール(pool)を形成し、このようになれば、原子炉壁を燃やして格納室の底部に落ち、格納室の底部さえ溶融させ、結局、溶融された核燃料が外部に露出した状態で反応し続けて大量の放射性副産物が周辺に放出される。このような現象を炉心溶融(nuclear meltdown)という。

Claims (7)
- 入口部を有する原子炉、および
液体窒素が入っている少なくとも1つの容器を含み、
前記少なくとも1つの容器が前記入口部に連結される出口部を有し、該容器から液体窒素が原子炉内に流れ込むことを特徴とするシステム。 - 前記少なくとも1つの容器にホウ素がさらに入っていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記入口部と連結され、原子炉に入る液体窒素の流量を制御する熱作動バルブをさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記少なくとも1つの容器が第1体積を有し、液体窒素が入っている大型容器をさらに含み、大型容器は第1体積より大きい第2体積を有し、前記少なくとも1つの容器に連結されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 液体窒素を生産する装置をさらに含み、該装置が前記少なくとも1つの容器に連結されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のシステム。
