Abstract
Description
図4は、クランクシャフトの1回転における、図1〜3のエンジンの動作を示す。具体的には、図4(a)〜4(m)は、30°刻みのピストン位置を示す。
図5〜9は、本発明のさらなる代表的な実施形態を示す。これらの動作は、上述した実施形態と概ね類似している。これらは、下記で説明されるように、上述した実施形態とは、スパークプラグ及び燃料噴射器の両方又はいずれか一方の形状と配置が異なっている。
Claims (18)
- 少なくとも1つのシリンダと、
前記シリンダ内の対向する往復動ピストンの対であって、それらの間に燃焼室を形成するピストンの対と、
前記シリンダに取り付けられた少なくとも1つの燃焼点火装置であって、前記対向するピストンの間に形成される前記燃焼室内にその一部が露出する燃焼点火装置とを備えた内燃機関。 - 前記燃焼点火装置が、前記シリンダ又は前記ピストンの中心軸線上、又は前記シリンダ又は前記ピストンの前記中心軸線上又は近傍に配置される請求項1に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記燃焼点火装置は、前記シリンダの一端において固定されており、かつその端部から前記シリンダ内に、前記シリンダの前記中心軸線に沿って又は平行して突出し、エンジンのサイクルを通して、前記燃焼点火装置の前記突出部分が前記燃焼室内の定位置に配置される請求項1又は2に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記燃焼点火装置は、当該燃焼点火装置が突出する前記シリンダの端部に最も接近した前記ピストンを貫通し、前記ピストンは、前記燃焼点火装置が内部に収容されたハウジングに沿って往復運動するように構成されている請求項3に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記燃焼点火装置は、前記ピストンのうちの1つに固定され、前記ピストンと共に動く請求項1又は2に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記燃焼点火装置に電力を供給するための可撓リード線、摺動電気コネクション又は非接触電気コネクションを備える請求項5に記載の内燃機関。
- 吸気マニホールドを介して前記シリンダ内へ間接的に燃料を噴射するための1つ又は複数の燃料噴射器を備える請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記シリンダ内へ直接燃料を噴射するために、前記燃焼室に直接露出するノズルを有する少なくとも1つの燃料噴射器を備える請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記少なくとも1つの燃料噴射器は、前記シリンダの側壁に設けられる請求項8に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記少なくとも1つの燃料噴射器は、前記シリンダの一端に取り付けられており、前記噴射ノズルが、前記シリンダの一端でそれぞれのピストンクラウンを貫通して前記燃焼室内に突出している請求項8に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記少なくとも1つの燃料噴射器は、前記シリンダ内の位置に取り付けられ、前記ピストンが、前記燃料噴射器のハウジングに沿って摺動する請求項10に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記少なくとも1つの燃料噴射器は、前記ピストンに固定され、前記シリンダ内で前記ピストンが往復運動するのと共に動く請求項10に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記燃料噴射器と前記燃料点火装置とは、前記シリンダの対向する端部から突出する請求項10〜13のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記燃料噴射器と前記燃焼点火装置とは、前記シリンダの同じ端部から突出する請求項10〜13のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関。
- 前記燃料噴射器と前記燃焼点火装置とは、1つのハウジング内に収容される請求項14に記載の内燃機関。
- 複数のシリンダを備える請求項1〜15のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関。
- 同軸上に対向する少なくとも2つのシリンダを備え、各シリンダが対向ピストンの対を有し、前記ピストンの全てが、前記2つのシリンダ間に配置された1つのクランクシャフトを駆動する請求項16に記載の内燃機関。
- 同軸上に対向するシリンダの2つの対を備え、前記シリンダの対が水平対向4気筒構成において互いに隣接して配置され、各シリンダが対向ピストンの対を有し、前記ピストンの全てが、各対の前記2つのシリンダ間に配置された1つのクランクシャフトを駆動する請求項17に記載の内燃機関。
