Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire that can be mounted on a motorcycle. In particular, the present invention relates to improvements in tire treads.
When turning a motorcycle, centrifugal force acts on the motorcycle. Cornering force is required for turning. This cornering force balances the centrifugal force. When turning, the rider tilts the motorcycle inward. By this inclination, the turning of the motorcycle is achieved. To facilitate cornering, motorcycle tires have a tread with a small radius of curvature.
In a tire for a motorcycle, the center region is mainly grounded when going straight, and the shoulder region is mainly grounded when turning. When shifting from straight travel to turning, the contact surface of the tire tread shifts from the center region to the shoulder region. Further, when shifting from turning to going straight, the contact surface of the tread shifts from the shoulder region to the center region.
In a tire for a motorcycle, a crosslinked rubber having a high rubber hardness is generally used in the center region, and a crosslinked rubber having a low rubber hardness is used in the shoulder region. As a result, the high-hardness center region is grounded during straight traveling, and thus the steering stability is excellent. In cornering, the grip area is excellent because the low-shoulder shoulder area contacts the ground. However, if the material is different between the center region and the shoulder region, there is a difference in rigidity. Such tires tend to make the rider feel uncomfortable when turning. Such a tire lacks excessive characteristics at the time of transition from straight to turning and at the time of transition from turning to straight.
Tires in which the roles of the center region and the shoulder region are taken into account are disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2007-168531, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2009-046058, and the like.
The present invention has been made in view of the current situation, and is suitable for a motorcycle that is excellent in steering stability, grip performance, and transient characteristics during straight traveling and turning, and at the time of transition between these two travelings. According to the present invention, stable straight traveling performance, high grip performance during turning, and excellent transient characteristics at the time of transition between straight traveling and turning traveling can be exhibited.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail based on preferred embodiments with appropriate reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 shows a cross section of the
The
The
The
The developed width Lt of the
When the ratio Ls / Lc of the developed width is less than 0.3, the width of the
The
From this viewpoint, it is preferable that the difference (Hc−Hs) between the center rubber hardness Hc and the shoulder rubber hardness Hs is 2 or more and 5 or less. If this difference is less than 2, the above-mentioned traveling performance during straight traveling and turning may not be expected. On the other hand, if the difference exceeds 5, the transient characteristics at the time of transition between straight traveling and turning traveling may be deteriorated. In the present embodiment, the rubber hardness is measured by pressing a type A durometer against the
As shown in FIG. 1, in the meridian cross section, the two boundary surfaces BS of the
The sidewall 6 extends substantially inward in the radial direction from the end of the
The
The
The
Steel or non-steel may be selected as the cord material. The
Here, the code density X of the
Hereinafter, the
From this point of view, the difference (Xs−Xc) between the cord density Xs of the
In the embodiment described above, a steel cord is used as the
Even in the
Also in the
FIG. 2 shows a cross-sectional view of another
The ratio Lsi / Lso between the developed width Lsi of the
The hardness Hsi of the
Since the other configuration of the
From this point of view, the difference (Hsi−Hso) between the hardness Hsi of the
In the
The combination of the distribution of the cord densities Xsi and Xso of the
From this point of view, the difference (Xso−Xsi) between the cord density Xso of the
Also in the

From this point of view, the ratio Wc / Wb of the cap rubber thickness Wc to the base rubber thickness Wb is preferably 1 or more and 5 or less in any part from the equator plane CL to both tread edges. If this ratio is less than 1, the base rubber may be exposed to the surface in the process of tire wear, and if this ratio exceeds 5, the effect of providing the base rubber may be reduced. . Since the ratio Wc / Wb is 1 or more and 5 or less, the ratio Wb / Wt of the base rubber thickness Wb to the total thickness Wt of the
As described above, the magnitude relationship between the hardness Hcc of the
[Hb > Hsc
[When Hb> Hsc]
The base rubber hardness Hb may be higher than the shoulder cap rubber hardness Hsc. In this case, as shown in FIG. 3, the base rubber thickness Wb is preferably increased gradually from the equator plane CL side toward the shoulder edge side. According to such a configuration, the high
From this point of view, the difference Hb−Hsc between the base rubber hardness Hb and the shoulder cap rubber hardness Hsc is preferably set to 2 or more and 14 or less. Regarding the degree of gradual increase in the base rubber thickness Wb, the ratio Wbe / Wbc of the base rubber thickness Wbe at the tread edge to the base rubber thickness Wbc of the equator CL is more than 1 and 5 or less. preferable.
If the difference Hb−Hsc between the base rubber hardness Hb and the shoulder cap rubber hardness Hsc is less than 2, rigidity on the shoulder side is insufficient, transient characteristics may deteriorate, and collapse may occur. On the other hand, if the hardness difference Hb−Hsc exceeds 14, the shoulder region becomes excessively rigid, the transient characteristics deteriorate, and chattering may occur. Further, regarding the degree of gradual increase in the base rubber thickness Wb, if the base rubber thickness ratio Wbe / Wbc is 1 or less, the rigidity of the crown portion (center region) becomes excessive, and the transient characteristics may be deteriorated. There is. On the other hand, if the ratio Wbe / Wbc exceeds 5, the shoulder region becomes excessively rigid, the transient characteristics deteriorate, and chattering may occur.
From the above viewpoint, the ratio Wbe / Wbc is more preferably 1.5 or more and 5.0 or less.
[Hsc > Hb
[When Hsc> Hb]
FIG. 4 shows a
From this viewpoint, it is preferable that the difference Hsc−Hb between the shoulder cap rubber hardness Hsc and the base rubber hardness Hb is 2 or more and 10 or less. Regarding the degree of gradual decrease in the base rubber thickness Wb, the ratio Wbe / Wbc of the base rubber thickness Wbe at the tread edge to the base rubber thickness Wbc of the equator CL is preferably 0 or more and less than 1.
If the difference Hsc−Hb between the shoulder cap rubber hardness Hsc and the base rubber hardness Hb is less than 2, there is a risk that transient characteristics may be deteriorated or collapsed due to insufficient rigidity on the shoulder side. On the other hand, if the hardness difference Hsc−Hbc exceeds 10, the shoulder side has excessive rigidity, which may cause deterioration of transient characteristics and chattering. Further, regarding the degree of gradual decrease of the base rubber thickness Wb, if the ratio Wbe / Wbc of the base rubber thickness is 1 or more, there is a risk of deterioration of transient characteristics or chattering due to insufficient rigidity of the crown portion. is there.
From the above viewpoint, the ratio Wbe / Wbc is more preferably 0 or more and 0.7 or less.
