Claims (11)

  1. ネットワークを介して読み込み及び書き込み要求を送信するように構成されたクライア
    ントコンピュータと、
    前記ネットワークに結合されて前記読み込み及び書き込み要求を受け取るように構成さ
    れた、複数のストレージデバイス上に複数のデータ記憶位置を含むデータストレージサブ
    システムと、
    を備え、前記データストレージサブシステムは、ストレージコントローラをさらに備え、
    該ストレージコントローラは、
    前記ストレージデバイスの第１のサブセットを、第１の冗長データセットを含む第１
    のＲＡＩＤレイアウトで使用するように構成し、
    前記ストレージデバイスの第２のサブセットを、第２の冗長データセットを含む第２
    のＲＡＩＤレイアウトで使用するように構成し、
    前記第１のサブセット又は前記第２のサブセットのいずれにも含まれていない追加の
    デバイスを、前記第１のＲＡＩＤレイアウト及び前記第２のＲＡＩＤレイアウトの両方の
    ための冗長データを記憶するように構成する、
    ように構成され、
    前記第１のＲＡＩＤレイアウト又は前記第２のＲＡＩＤレイアウトの特定のストレージ
    デバイスを対象とする所与の読み込み要求を受け取ったことに応答して、前記コントロー
    ラは、前記特定のストレージデバイスが非エラーに関する相対的に遅い読み込み応答を示
    していると判断したことに応答して、前記所与の読み込み要求に対応する再構成読み込み
    を開始するように構成される、
    ことを特徴とするコンピュータシステム。
  2. 前記第１のサブセット及び第２のサブセット内の各デバイスは、デバイス内冗長データ
    を記憶するように構成され、前記第１の冗長データセット及び前記第２の冗長データセッ
    トは、いずれもデバイス間冗長データを含む、
    ことを特徴とする請求項１に記載のコンピュータシステム。
  3. 前記複数のストレージデバイスは、ソリッドステートストレージデバイスである、
    ことを特徴とする請求項２に記載のコンピュータシステム。
  4. 前記第１のＲＡＩＤレイアウトは、Ｌ＋ｘのレイアウトであり、前記第２のＲＡＩＤレ
    イアウトは、Ｍ＋ｙのレイアウトであり、Ｌ、ｘ、Ｍ及びｙは整数であり、（１）ＬはＭ
    に等しくない、及び（２）ｘはｙに等しくない、のいずれか又は両方である、
    ことを特徴とする請求項１に記載のコンピュータシステム。
  5. 前記ストレージコントローラは、前記データストレージサブシステムの特性を検出した
    ことに応答して、Ｌ、ｘ、Ｍ及びｙのうちの１又はそれ以上を変更するように構成され、
    前記特性は、エラー率、アクセス率、デバイス使用年数、占有率レベル、記憶されたデー
    タの使用年数、及びデータの予想寿命のうちの１又はそれ以上である、
    ことを特徴とする請求項４に記載のコンピュータシステム。
  6. 前記第１のＲＡＩＤレイアウト及び前記第２のＲＡＩＤレイアウトは、いずれも単一の
    デバイスグループから選択される、
    ことを特徴とする請求項１に記載のコンピュータシステム。
  7. 前記第１のＲＡＩＤレイアウトは、第１のデバイスグループから選択され、前記第２の
    ＲＡＩＤレイアウトは、第２のデバイスグループから選択され、前記第１のデバイスグル
    ープ及び前記第２のデバイスグループは、デバイスを共有しない、
    ことを特徴とする請求項１に記載のコンピュータシステム。
  8. 前記第１のＲＡＩＤレイアウト及び前記第２のＲＡＩＤレイアウトは、前記第１のサブ
    セット及び前記第２のサブセットに含まれる他のデバイスよりも大きな記憶容量を有する
    少なくとも１つのデバイスを含む、
    ことを特徴とする請求項１に記載のコンピュータシステム。
  9. 前記追加のデバイスは、前記第１のサブセット、第２のサブセット、又はその他から選
    択される、
    ことを特徴とする請求項１に記載のコンピュータシステム。
  10. コンピューティングシステムで使用するための方法であって、
    複数のストレージデバイスを含むデバイスグループ上に複数のデータ記憶位置を含むデ
    ータストレージサブシステムにおいて読み込み及び書き込み要求を受け取るステップと、
    前記ストレージデバイスの第１のサブセットを、第１の冗長データセットを含む第１の
    ＲＡＩＤレイアウトで使用するように構成するステップと、
    前記ストレージデバイスの第２のサブセットを、第２の冗長データセットを含む第２の
    ＲＡＩＤレイアウトで使用するように構成するステップと、
    前記第１のサブセット又は前記第２のサブセットのいずれにも含まれていない追加のデ
    バイスを、前記第１のＲＡＩＤレイアウト及び前記第２のＲＡＩＤレイアウトの両方のた
    めの冗長データを記憶するように構成するステップと、
    前記特定のストレージデバイスが非エラー関する相対的に遅い読み込み応答を示してい
    ると判断したことに応答して、前記複数のストレージデバイスのうちの特定のストレージ
    デバイスを対象とする所与の読み込み要求に対応する再構成読み込みを開始するステップ
    と、
    を含むことを特徴とする方法。
  11. プログラム命令を記憶するコンピュータ可読記憶媒体であって、前記プログラム命令は
    、
    複数のストレージデバイスを含むデバイスグループ上に複数のデータ記憶位置を含むデ
    ータストレージサブシステムにおいて読み込み及び書き込み要求を受け取り、
    前記ストレージデバイスの第１のサブセットを、第１の冗長データセットを含む第１の
    ＲＡＩＤレイアウトで使用するように構成し、
    前記ストレージデバイスの第２のサブセットを、第２の冗長データセットを含む第２の
    ＲＡＩＤレイアウトで使用するように構成し、
    前記第１のサブセット又は前記第２のサブセットのいずれにも含まれていない追加のデ
    バイスを、前記第１のＲＡＩＤレイアウト及び前記第２のＲＡＩＤレイアウトの両方のた
    めの冗長データを記憶するように構成し、
    前記特定のストレージデバイスが非エラー関する相対的に遅い読み込み応答を示してい
    ると判断したことに応答して、前記複数のストレージデバイスのうちの特定のストレージ
    デバイスを対象とする所与の読み込み要求に対応する再構成読み込みを開始する、
    ように実行可能であることを特徴とするコンピュータ可読記憶媒体。
