ここにおいて、
v(sub):浮動物体の流体中に沈んだ容積
ρ(fluid):物体が浮かぶ流体の密度
v(obj):浮動物体の全容積
ρ(obj):浮動物体の密度
従って、全容積に対する沈んだ容積の割合は、流体の以下の関係式のように流体の密度に対する物体の密度に比例する。
v(sub)/v(obj)=ρ(obj)/ρ(fluid)
上記の関係から、いずれの物体についても、浮動物体の沈んだ容積は、該物体が浮かぶ流体の密度の関数である。上記の理由により、流体の密度を制御し得ない本発明の場合、赤血球内に沈んだ分離部材10の容積部分は制御し得ない。
ρ(rbc)−ρ(sc)/ρ(sc)−ρ(plasma)=m(plasma)/m(rbc)
ここにおいて、
ρ(rbc):赤血球層の密度
ρ(sc):分離部材の密度
ρ(plasma):血漿層の密度
m(plasma):血漿層内における分離部材の質量
m(rbc):赤血球層内における分離部材の質量
上記関係式から前述したと同様の結論が導き出されるが、更には以下の基本的結論が導き出される。すなわち、分離部材の血漿層内の割合及び赤血球層内の割合が、分離部材及びこれら層の密度の関数である。
Claims (18)
- 生理的流体の成分を分離するための部材であって、
前記生理的流体の内のより軽い第1の成分内で浮かぶように構成された第1部分と、該第1部分から所定距離だけ離間するとともに該生理的流体の内のより密度が大きい第2の成分内で浮かぶように構成された第2部分とより成り、前記第1部分の質量は、当該部材の全質量の少なくとも約65%であることを特徴とする部材。 - 前記第1部分の質量は、当該部材の全質量の65%から80%の範囲にある請求項1に記載の部材。
- 前記第1部分の質量は、当該部材の全質量の約68%である請求項2に記載の部材。
- 前記第1部分は、肉薄ディスクよりなるとともに当該部材が処理チューブ内で浮かぶときに安定性を付与する複数の安定化用脚を備えてなる請求項1に記載の部材。
- 前記第2部分は、肉薄平坦ディスクよりなる請求項4に記載の部材。
- 前記第2部分は、一連の半径方向に延出した山部と谷部とを形成した肉薄ディスクよりなる請求項4に記載の部材。
- 前記第2部分は、一連の半径方向に延出した山部と谷部とを形成した肉薄ディスクよりなる請求項1に記載の部材。
- 前記第1部分及び第2部分は、連結されてなる請求項1に記載の部材。
- 前記第1部分は、当該部材が処理チューブ内で浮かぶときに安定性を付与する複数の安定化用脚を周辺に備えてなる請求項8に記載の部材。
- 前記第1部分は、外壁と該外壁に向かってテーパ状をなす内壁を有する請求項8を記載する部材。
- 前記外壁は円筒状を呈し、前記内壁は円錐形状を呈してなる請求項10に記載の部材。
- 前記第1部分及び第2部分は、前記軽い第1の成分の密度が一定であり、前記第2の成分の密度が約2%だけ変化するとき、該第1及び第2の成分の間の境界領域に対する当該部材の位置の相違が約0.10インチ(2.54mm)より小さいように構成されてなる請求項1に記載の部材。
- 前記生理的流体は血液であり、前記第2の成分は赤血球を含んでなる請求項1に記載の部材。
- 前記第1の成分は血小板を含んでなる請求項13に記載の部材。
- 前記生理的流体は骨髄吸出物質であり、前記第2の成分は赤血球を含んでなる請求項1に記載の部材。
- 前記第1の成分は幹細胞を含んでなる請求項15に記載の部材。
- 遠心分離操作によって上澄み液を分離する方法であって、
チューブ状のチャンバを用意し、
該チャンバ内に分離部材を配置し、
前記分離部材が遠心分離操作の間に生理的流体内で浮かぶことができるとともに、該流体内で、上澄み液と、それより重い成分との間の境界領域に対する所定の位置を占め、
前記生理的流体を前記チャンバに加え、
該チャンバ及び生理的流体に遠心分離操作を施し、
前記上澄み液をデカント操作で注ぎ移し、
前記分離部材が該デカント操作の間に当該より重い成分との係合によって前記上澄み液に向かって該チャンバに沿う移動が許容されてなること、よりなる方法。 - 前記より重い成分は赤血球を含んでなる請求項17に記載の方法。
