Abstract

Description
a)約2〜約80重量パーセントのエポキシ樹脂、
b)約2〜約70重量パーセントのポリマー(例えば、エポキシ)/エラストマー付加物、
c)1つ以上の追加的ポリマーであって、典型的には1以上のエチレンポリマー又はコポリマーを含むもの、

の中の少なくとも3つを含んでいる。
エポキシ樹脂は、任意の慣用の少なくとも1つのエポキシ官能基を含む二量体状、オリゴマー状又はポリマー状エポキシ物質を意味するものとして、ここでは使用されている。さらに、エポキシ樹脂という用語は、単独のエポキシ樹脂または複数のエポキシ樹脂の組合せを指すのに使用されうる。ポリマーに基づく物質は、開環反応により重合可能な1以上のオキシラン環を有するエポキシ含有物質でありうる。好ましい実施態様では、活性化可能な物質は、約80%までの又はそれ以上のエポキシ樹脂を含んでいる。より好ましくは、膨張可能な物質は、重量で約2%から約70%の間のエポキシ樹脂を含み、さらに好ましくは、重量で約4%から約30%の間のエポキシ樹脂を含む。この重量百分率は、他の成分(例えば、付加物、充填材、代替ポリマーまたはこれらの組み合わせ等)がより大きな又は小さな重量百分率で使用される場合に、より低くも高くも成りうる。
様々なポリマー/エラストマー付加物が、本発明に従い使用されうると考えられているが、1つの好ましい付加物は、エポキシ/エラストマー付加物である。非常に好ましい実施態様においては、エラストマー含有付加物は、本発明の活性化可能な物質において比較的高濃度で使用される。エポキシ/エラストマーのハイブリッド又は付加物は、粘着性物質の重量で80%程度までの量で、含有されうる。さらに好ましくは、エラストマー含有付加物は、大体、重量で少なくとも5%の、さらに典型的には少なくとも7%の、さらに典型的には少なくとも10%の活性化可能な物質であり、重量で60%まで又はそれ以上も可能であるが、より好ましくは、約10%から30%までの活性化可能な物質である。勿論、エラストマー含有付加物は、2以上の特定の付加物の組み合わせであり得、これらの付加物は、温度23℃で固体状付加物若しくは液体状付加物、又はこれら付加物の組み合わせでありうる。1つの好ましい実施態様においては、付加物は、温度23℃で固体である1以上の付加物の実質的に全体(即ち、少なくとも70%、80%、90%あるいはそれ以上)で構成されている。
活性化可能な物質は、典型的には1以上の付加的なポリマーまたはコポリマーを含み、種類の異なる様々なポリマー、例えば、熱可塑性物質、エラストマー、プラストマーまたはこれらの組合せ等を含みうる。例えば、ポリマー混合物に適切に組み込まれうるポリマーは、これらに制限する意図ではなく、ハロゲン化ポリマー、ポリカーボネート、ポリケトン、ウレタン、ポリエステル、シラン、スルホン、アリル、オレフィン、スチレン、アクリレート、メタクリル酸、エポキシ、シリコーン、フェノール、ゴム、ポリフェニレンオキサイド、テレフタル酸エステル、酢酸塩エステル(例えば、EVA)、アクリレート、メタクリレート(例えば、エチレンメチルアクリレート重合体)またはこれらの混合物を含む。これら以外の潜在的高分子材料は、これらに制限する意図ではなく、ポリオレフィン(例えば、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン)、ポリスチレン、ポリアクリレート、ポリ(エチレンオキサイド)、ポリ(エチレンイミン)、ポリエステル、ポリウレタン、ポリシロキサン、ポリエーテル、ポリホスファゼン、ポリアミド、ポリイミド、ポリイソブチレン、ポリアクリロニトリル、ポリ(塩化ビニル)、ポリ(メタクリ酸メチル)、ポリ(酢酸ビニル)、ポリ(塩化ビニリデン)、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、ポリイソプレン、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリアクリル酸、ポリメタクリートでありうるし、又これらを含みうる。
一般的に、活性化可能な物質が、少なくとも一つの耐衝撃改良剤を含むことは好ましい。本発明のその他の成分と同様に本明細書で使われている場合に、耐衝撃改良剤という用語は、1つの耐衝撃改良剤または複数の耐衝撃改良剤を含みうる。本発明の実施においては、様々な耐衝撃改良剤が採用されることが可能であり、しばしば1以上のエラストマーを含んでいる。特定の実施態様においてはより高いまたは低い量の耐衝撃改良剤が使用されるとしても、一般には、耐衝撃改良剤は、活性化可能な物質の重量の少なくとも4%、より典型的には7%、より典型的には少なくとも10%であることが好ましく、また耐衝撃改良剤は、活性化可能な物質の重量の90%未満、より典型的には40%未満、さらに典型的には30%未満であることが好ましい。
1以上の発泡剤は、望まれる時に活性化可能な物質の中で開いた又は閉じたセル状構造を形成する不活性ガスを生成するための活性化可能な物質に加えられうる。このようにして、該物質から製作された製品の密度を低下させることが可能である。さらに、該物質の膨張は、封止能力、音響減衰又はこれらの両方を改良するのを助けうる。
1つ以上の硬化剤及び/又は硬化剤加速剤が、活性化可能な物質に添加されうる。硬化剤と硬化剤加速剤の量は、発泡剤と同様に、所望のセル構造の型、活性化可能な物質の所望の膨張量、所望の膨張速度及び活性化可能な物質の所望の構造的特性等に依存して、活性化可能な物質内で広範に変化しうる。活性化可能な物質に存在する硬化剤または硬化剤加速剤の典型的な範囲は、重量で約0.001%から約7%までの範囲である。
また、活性化可能な物質は1つ以上の充填材、例えば、これらに限定する意図ではないが、微粒子状の物質(例えば、粉体)、ビーズまたは微小球などを含みうる。好ましくは、充填材は比較的低密度の物質を含んでおり、該物質は活性化可能な物質に存在する他の成分と一般的に反応しない。一般的に充填材は、活性化可能な物質内に比較的低重量でスペースを取るために、存在しうるが、また充填材は、活性化可能な物質に特性、例えば、強度及び衝撃耐性を与えうることも考慮される。
多くのほとんどの任意の付加的な化学物質または材料などは、活性化可能な物質に適しかつ活性化可能な物質のある選ばれた応用に適していることを前提にして、活性化可能な物質に添加されうる。
活性化可能な物質の形成は、様々な新規のまたは既知の技術にしたがって、達成されうる。好ましくは、活性化可能な物質は、実質上均一な組成物として形成される。しかし、様々な一緒にする技術が、活性化可能な物質の特定の場所における特定の成分の濃度を増加または減少させるために使われうることが考えられる。
Claims (16)
- 2つの面を結合するための方法であって、熱活性化可能かつ膨張可能な封止物質が、結合されるべき該面の1つの面の縁において又は該縁付近で、該封止材が膨張するところの温度より下の温度での熱押し出し法によって、第1の面に接着して備えられ、そして該封止材を支える該物質の該縁が、第2の面の端部に形成されたC又はU字形部の中に挿入され、そして、ひとたび組み合わされると該熱活性化可能な封止物質は活性化されて膨張し、該C又はU字形部を充填し、該2つの面を相互に接着する、該方法。
- 該2つの面は自動車の車体における結合部である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 該結合部はヘムフランジである、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 該物質は常温で触っても粘着性でない、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 使用される該物質の量は、膨張すると該封止材が該C又はU字形カップの境界を越えて流動するような量である、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 該膨張せられた物質は塗装可能な表面を提供する、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 該膨張せられた物質は保護層を提供する、請求項5又は6に記載の方法。
- 該活性化可能な物質は、ポリマー混合物、耐衝撃改良剤、並びに発泡剤、硬化剤及び充填剤の1以上の組み合わせ、を含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 該活性化可能な物質は、下記
a)2〜80重量パーセントのエポキシ樹脂、
b)2〜70重量パーセントのポリマー(例えば、エポキシ/エラストマー付加物)、
c)1つ以上の追加的ポリマーであって、典型的には1以上のエチレンポリマー又はコポリマーを含むもの、
d)2〜7重量パーセントの耐衝撃改良剤
e)5重量パーセント以下の発泡剤、
f)7重量パーセント以下の硬化剤
g)充填材
の中の少なくとも3つを含む、請求項8に記載の方法。 - 該熱活性化可能な物質は、膨張可能であり、かつ膨張せられていない状態でのその体積よりも少なくとも5パーセント大きな体積にまで膨張する(例えば、発泡する)、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 該物質は、該非膨張状態での体積よりも少なくとも50パーセント大きな体積にまで膨張する請求項10に記載の方法。
- 該熱活性化可能かつ膨張可能な物質は、ミニアプリケーターから施与される、請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 該熱活性化可能かつ膨張可能な物質は、ロボット制御で施与される、請求項1〜12のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 該熱活性化可能かつ膨張可能な物質は、自動車の電着塗装焼付けオーブンで経験される温度で膨張する、請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 該温度は120℃から260℃までの間である、請求項14に記載の方法
- 該膨張可能な物質はまた膨張すると架橋する、請求項1〜15のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
