Claims (9)
- P(ビット/秒)の光信号を生成する光変調器であって、
連続波長の光信号から一連の光パルスを生成するパルス・カーバと、
前記一連の光パルスから一連のより高い周波数の光パルスを生成する干渉計とを備え、前記干渉計が
入力結合器と、
出力結合器と、
前記入力結合器を前記出力結合器に接続するN本の光導波路アームとを含み、前記導波路アームのひとつひとつが、隣接する導波路アームから1/Pの経路長差を呈し、前記N本のアームのそれぞれがP/N(ビット/秒)で動作する強度変調器と、前記アームを通る光信号の位相を調整する移相器とを有し、
前記アームを通る光信号の相対位相が、前記出力結合器の働きにより同位相で加えられるように前記移相器が調整される、光変調器。 - 前記アームを通る光信号の前記相対位相が、順次より長いアームに対して異なる位相で加えられ、それによりキャリア抑圧ゼロ復帰(CSRZ)信号を生成するように前記移相器が調整される、請求項1に記載の光変調器。
- 前記干渉計が反射構成であり、前記導波路アームのひとつひとつが1/2Pの経路長の差を呈す、請求項1に記載の光変調器。
- 前記干渉計が反射構成であり、前記導波路アームのひとつひとつが1/2Pの経路長の差を呈す、請求項2に記載の光変調器。
- 単一の結合器が、入力結合器および出力結合器の両方の機能を果たし、前記変調器を集積したチップの端部が、複数の前記強度変調器を有する端部に高反射膜を具備する、請求項1に記載の光変調器。
- 前記パルス・カーバが電界吸収型変調器を備える、請求項1に記載の光変調器。
- 複数の前記強度変調器が電界吸収型変調器を備える、請求項1に記載の光変調器。
- 連続波長レーザをさらに備える、請求項1に記載の光変調器。
- 連続波長レーザをさらに備える、請求項2に記載の光変調器。
