Abstract
【課題】 光源駆動方法
【解決手段】 複数の発光ブロックからなる光源駆動方法は、単位画像を表示する複数の画素の階調値を分析して前記単位画像を表示する複数の画素に光を供給する発光ブロックのブースティング駆動可否を決定することを含む。ブースティング駆動する発光ブロックには、ノーマル駆動する発光ブロックの第1駆動信号より高いレベルの第2駆動信号を出力する。

Claims (10)
- 複数の発光ブロックからなる光源駆動方法において、
単位画像を表示する複数の画素の階調値を分析して前記単位画像を表示する複数の画素に光を供給する発光ブロックの駆動モードを決定することと、
ブースティングモードで決定された発光ブロックにノーマルモードで決定された発光ブロックに印加された第1駆動信号より高いレベルの第2駆動信号を印加することと、を含む光源駆動方法。 - 前記第2駆動信号を出力することは、
前記単位画像の階調値を利用して前記単位画像の適応性輝度を求めることと、
前記適応性輝度に基づいてブースティングレベルを決定することと、
前記ブースティングレベルを有する前記第2駆動信号を生成することと、を含む請求項1に記載の光源駆動方法。 - 前記ブースティングレベルはピーク電流レベルであることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の光源駆動方法。
- 前記ブースティングレベルを時間的及び空間的ローパスフィルタを利用して補正することをさらに含む請求項3に記載の光源駆動方法。
- 前記ブースティングレベルはデューティ比レベルであることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の光源駆動方法。
- 前記フレーム画像の階調値を利用して前記発光ブロックのデューティ比を決定することをさらに含む請求項2に記載の光源駆動方法。
- 前記デューティ比を利用して前記画像の階調値を補正することをさらに含む請求項6に記載の光源駆動方法。
- 前記ブースティング駆動可否を決定することは、
前記単位画像の高しきい値より高い階調値の第1番目階調値が、前記単位画像の低しきい値より低い階調値の第2番目階調値よりも小さいとき、前記単位画像に対応する発光ブロックをブースティング駆動するように決定することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の光源駆動方法。 - 前記高しきい値より高い階調値の第1番目階調値が小さいほど、前記ブースティングレベルは大きくなることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の光源駆動方法。
- 前記単位画像は、1つの発光ブロックに対応する画像、グルーピングされた複数個の発光ブロックに対応する画像、または全体発光ブロックに対応する画像であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の光源駆動方法。
