Abstract
【解決手段】 粒子形状が球状を基本として粒子表面に角張った突起を有する黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末は、第一鉄塩水溶液とアルカリ水溶液とを反応させてマグネタイト種晶粒子を生成させ成長反応させる第二段反応との二段階反応からなるマグネタイト粒子粉末の製造法において、第一段反応中のpHを7.0〜8.5の範囲とし、且つ、第二段反応中に第一段反応のFeに対し1.0〜30.0原子%の第一鉄塩溶液を添加して得られる。

Description
まず、現像剤粒子は磁力場が支配するスリーブ表面から極小粒子塊として上述の二つの力が働く空間へと脱離しなければならない。
その周波数の設定はマシンの設計によって様々であるが数10Hzから20kHz程度である。
(1)突起物の両端がともに凹状であること。
(2)凸部分(突起部分)が角張っていること。
(3)突起物の両辺の延長線上の交点でなす角(a)、突起物の両端と突起物を成す辺との角(b)について、以下を満足すること。
i)a<90°
ii)90°<b<180°
従来、トナー粒子に含有され特に表面に露出する磁性体粒子が電荷をリークする課題を直流抵抗値のみの観点から改良されてきた。しかし本発明者らは実際にトナーが感光体上の潜像部分へ到達するまでの空間には高電圧と高周波数の交流電場が印加されており、直流抵抗成分だけではトナー粒子表面の電荷を維持し、この空間でのトナー粒子の挙動を厳密に制御するには不十分であると考え、黒色磁性体粒子の交流電場における抵抗値すなわちインピーダンスを高めることができないかという点について鋭意検討した結果、本発明に至ったものである。
インピーダンスのゼロ点補正は粉体を導入する前に、電極を離した状態のオープン補正と金属治具に接続し短絡した状態でのショート補正によって行った。サンプル測定中の印加電圧は4Vとした。
上記の加圧成形時の圧力は6MPaよりも低すぎると圧縮密度が低すぎて錠剤の空隙率が高くなり再現性のよい測定値が得られない。加圧圧力が高すぎると錠剤と電極の接触部分にクラックが発生し周波数応答に不連続部分が生じるなど測定精度が得られない。
こうして得られたNyquistプロットは半円状であり、抵抗成分と容量成分の並列回路が等価回路として考えられた。さらに周波数が低い直流部分には半円状にゆがみがありもうひとつの半円の存在が示唆されたので一般則に従い高周波数側の半円がバルクのインピーダンスであり、低周波数側の半円が粒子同士の接触界面でのインピーダンスと考えた。従ってバルク特性周波数は高周波数側の半円についてBode線図から求めた。
磁気特性は、「振動試料型磁力計VSM−3S−15」(東英工業(株)製)を使用し、外部磁場796kA/m(10KOe)までかけて測定した。
即ち、黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末とイオン交換水とを混合した後、分散させて懸濁液としたものを水酸化アルカリ水溶液と混合して30分間以上攪拌した後、懸濁液を濾過、乾燥して得られた黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末のSi量を測定し、前記アルカリによる処理前の全Si量との差をもって粒子表面のSi量とした。
圧縮度=〔(ρt−ρa)/ρt〕×100
尚、圧縮度が小さくなるほど流動性がより優れたものとなる。

○:黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末の微粉が殆んど無い。
△:従来の球状マグネタイト粒子粉末よりは少ない。
×:従来の球状マグネタイト粒子粉末と同程度以上。
Fe2+ 1.6mol/lを含む硫酸第一鉄水溶液25.0lを、あらかじめ反応器中に準備された3.1Nの水酸化ナトリウム水溶液24.5lに加え(Fe2+に対し0.95当量に該当する。)、pH6.7、温度90℃において水酸化第一鉄塩コロイドを含む第一鉄塩懸濁液の生成を行った後、毎分80lの空気を通気して第一段反応を開始し、同時にケイ素成分として3号水ガラス(SiO2 28.8wt%)123.4g(Feに対しSi換算で1.7原子%に該当する。)を水で希釈して0.3lとしたものを添加した。上記水ガラス溶液の添加後、攪拌しながら酸化反応を続け、第一段反応を終了させマグネタイト核晶粒子を含む第一鉄懸濁液を得た。このとき、酸化反応開始後、Fe2+の酸化度が10%を越えて以降のpHは7.0〜8.5の範囲内であった。
第一段反応における第一鉄塩水溶液の種類、濃度並びに使用量、水酸化アルカリ水溶液の種類並びに濃度、第一段反応中の調整pH、第二段反応における水酸化アルカリ水溶液の種類並びに第二段反応における硫酸第一鉄溶液の種類、濃度、並びに使用量、第二段反応における反応温度を種々変化させた以外は前記実施例1と同様にして黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末を得た。このときの製造条件を表1に、得られた黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末の諸特性を表2に示す。
スチレン−n−ブチルアクリレート共重合体 100重量部
(共重合比=85:15、Mw=25万、Tg=62℃)
黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末(実施例1) 80重量部
正荷電制御剤 1.5重量部
低分子量エチレン−プロピレン共重合体 2重量部
上記混合物を140℃に設定された2本ロールミルで約15分間熱混練し、冷却後、粗粉砕、微粉砕した。さらにこれを分級により微粉、粗粉をカットし、体積平均径10.4μmの磁性トナーを得た。

Claims (8)
- マグネタイトを主成分とする黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末であって、該粉末を錠剤成形したときの錠剤の交流電場における電気抵抗値が、特性周波数領域で2×106Ωcm以上のインピーダンスを生じることを特徴とする黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末。
- 全Fe量に対してFe2+を17wt%以上含有する請求項1記載の黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末。
- マグネタイトを主成分とする黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末であって、該粉末を圧縮密度が2.3〜2.9g/cm3の錠剤に成形したときの錠剤の交流電場における特性周波数が50Hz以上かつ1500Hz以下の周波数帯に存在する請求項1又は2記載の黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末。
- マグネタイトを主成分とする黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末であって、該粉末を圧縮密度が2.3〜2.9g/cm3の錠剤に成形したときの錠剤の交流電場における特性周波数でのリアクタンス成分が3×106Ωcm以上である請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末。
- マグネタイトを主成分とする黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末であって、該粉末を圧縮密度が2.3〜2.9g/cm3の錠剤に成形したときの錠剤の交流電場における周波数−リアクタンス成分プロット(Bode線図)におけるバルクに起因するリアクタンス曲線のピークの半値全幅が周波数Hzの対数標記で3以下のピークを与える請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末。
- 平均粒子径が0.05〜0.50μmである請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末。
- Si換算でFeに対して0.3〜3.0原子%のケイ素を含有することを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末。
- 粒子形状が球状を基本として粒子表面に角張った突起を有することを特徴とする請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載の黒色磁性酸化鉄粒子粉末。
