−珪藻土粒にはミクロン単位の孔が連続的に内部を走っているので、その穴に入った空 気は長時間内部に溜まり徐徐に外部に輩出されることに拠り、好気性菌の活性化に役 立つ。その分嫌気性菌の増殖を抑えることになる。従って、臭いは従来のアンモニア 、メタンの悪臭に代わり、フルーツの臭いとなり、その結果従来の脱臭装置が不要と なる。この事実は小規模な生ごみ堆肥化装置で簡単に実証されている。
−最大のメッリットは出来た堆肥のなかに乾燥地でのベストな保水剤が5−10%が含 まれていること。
