Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing compost having a good water retention and usable for tree plantation in deserts or arid zones which controls the occurrence of malodor, when a composting device for kitchen wastes is in operation and reduces the time required for composting.
SOLUTION: The composting process comprises adding diatomaceus earth particles to and uniformly mixing them with the kitchen wastes so as to control the proliferation of anaerobic bacteria and to activate aerobic bacteria.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

Description

Until now, diatomaceous earth particles have been used as a filtering agent for water treatment equipment, but as a result of paying attention to the function as a proliferating agent for aerobic bacteria at the time of garbage treatment, the three points described in [Claim 1] above The merit of can be expected.

Diatomaceous earth grains have micron-sized holes running continuously inside, so the water and air once taken into the holes take a long time and are slowly produced outside, contributing to the growth of aerobic bacteria. I thought that. This fact was proved by experiments.

-I want to speed up composting.
-I want to suppress the foul odor that occurs during composting.
-I want to utilize the performance of diatomaceous earth grains with the best water retention for the compost that I made.

Although it depends on the content of solid waste, it is desirable to add 5-10% diatomaceous earth grains in the final product compost for use as a soil conditioner in dry land.

[0003] The problem of [0003] will be solved by the addition amount of the above [0004] diatomaceous earth grains. Depending on the circumstances, it may be added a little more than 10% by weight. In this case, however, the final compost product can be sold higher than the conventional product.

The more diatomaceous earth grains are added, the easier it will be to solve the [0003] problem, but depending on the ingredients of the garbage, it is necessary to test in advance on a case-by-case basis to the extent of 5-10%. Let there.

At the laboratory scale, the effect of the above [0003] has been proven many times and I think there is no problem.
In addition, I think that there is no problem because the effect of microbial activation has been demonstrated in many fields.

If the effect of [0003] is real, an expensive deodorizing device will be unnecessary, and the composting device using this will be cheap, so it will easily replace the conventional device. It will be a leading project for ODA projects from Japan for overseas desert greening (eg Egypt).

Claims (1)

When composting garbage, add an appropriate amount of diatomaceous earth particles and mix uniformly.
As a result, the following three merits can be expected based on the activation of aerobic bacteria by diatomaceous earth grains.
-Composting time from garbage can be greatly shortened.
-Since diatomaceous earth particles have micron-sized pores continuously running inside, the air in the holes accumulates in the interior for a long time and is gradually produced outside to activate aerobic bacteria. Useful for. Therefore, the growth of anaerobic bacteria will be suppressed. Therefore, the odor becomes a fruit odor in place of the conventional odors of ammonia and methane, and as a result, the conventional deodorizing apparatus becomes unnecessary. This fact is easily demonstrated in small-scale garbage composting equipment.
-The biggest merit is that the compost produced contains 5-10% of the best water retention agent in dry land.
Diatomaceous earth has water retention approximately twice that of zeolite and perlite, which have been used as water retention agents in deserts and drylands. Therefore, compost, the final product containing diatomaceous earth particles, is expected to become the decisive factor for greening in deserts and drylands.
