Abstract
Description
a)それぞれの画素駆動回路はデータ線と電力供給線に電気的に接続されていて、ソース電極とドレイン電極とゲート電極を有する駆動用トランジスタと、ソース電極とドレイン電極とゲート電極を有するスイッチング用トランジスタとを備え;
b)各駆動用トランジスタのソース電極とドレイン電極の一方は、対応する電力供給線に電気的に接続され、他方は、対応するOLED発光画素に電気的に接続され;
c)各スイッチング用トランジスタのソース電極とドレイン電極の一方は、対応する駆動用トランジスタのゲート電極に電気的に接続され、他方は、対応するデータ線に電気的に接続され;
d)正または負の第1の電圧を電力供給線に印加して駆動用トランジスタに第1の方向の電流を流すことにより、信号電圧に応答してOLED発光画素に光を発生させる第1の手段と;
e)第1の電圧とは極性が逆の第2の電圧を電力供給線に印加し、駆動用トランジスタに第1の方向とは逆の第2の方向の電流を、その駆動用トランジスタのゲート電極の電位によってその駆動用トランジスタがオフになるまで流す第2の手段と;
f)データ線上に、それぞれが駆動用トランジスタのゲート電極上の対応する電位の関数である複数の閾値電圧関連信号を発生させる第3の手段と;
g)その複数の閾値電圧関連信号に応答して1つの閾値電圧関連信号を生成させる第4の手段と;
h)その1つの閾値電圧関連信号に応答して負荷電圧を選択する第5の手段とを備える装置によって達成される。

ここに、PVDD3は、電力供給線110に印加される第3の電圧(例えばこの例ではゼロ)を表わす。この場合、閾値電圧は、測定された電圧から以下のように計算できる。

Claims (10)
- アレイ状に配置された複数のOLED発光画素を有するアクティブ・マトリックスOLEDディスプレイに含まれる画素駆動回路の駆動用トランジスタの閾値電圧(Vth)の変化を補償するための負荷電圧を選択する装置であって、
a)それぞれの画素駆動回路はデータ線と電力供給線に電気的に接続されていて、ソース電極とドレイン電極とゲート電極を有する駆動用トランジスタと、ソース電極とドレイン電極とゲート電極を有するスイッチング用トランジスタとを備え;
b)各駆動用トランジスタのソース電極とドレイン電極の一方は、対応する電力供給線に電気的に接続され、他方は、対応するOLED発光画素に電気的に接続され;
c)各スイッチング用トランジスタのソース電極とドレイン電極の一方は、対応する駆動用トランジスタのゲート電極に電気的に接続され、他方は、対応するデータ線に電気的に接続され;
d)正または負の第1の電圧を電力供給線に印加して上記駆動用トランジスタに第1の方向の電流を流すことにより、信号電圧に応答して上記OLED発光画素に光を発生させる第1の手段と;
e)第1の電圧とは極性が逆の第2の電圧を上記電力供給線に印加し、上記駆動用トランジスタに第1の方向とは逆の第2の方向の電流を、その駆動用トランジスタのゲート電極の電位によってその駆動用トランジスタがオフになるまで流す第2の手段と;
f)上記データ線上に、それぞれが上記駆動用トランジスタのゲート電極上の対応する電位の関数である複数の閾値電圧関連信号を発生させる第3の手段と;
g)その複数の閾値電圧関連信号に応答して1つの閾値電圧関連信号を生成させる第4の手段と;
h)その1つの閾値電圧関連信号に応答して負荷電圧を選択する第5の手段とを備える装置。 - 上記OLED発光画素が非反転OLED画素であり、第1の電圧がグラウンド値に対して正である、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 上記OLED発光画素が反転OLED画素であり、第1の電圧がグラウンド値に対して負である、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 上記駆動用トランジスタと上記スイッチング用トランジスタがn型トランジスタである、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 上記駆動用トランジスタと上記スイッチング用トランジスタがp型トランジスタである、請求項1に記載の装置。
- i)選択された駆動用トランジスタのゲート電極に上記閾値電圧関連信号に基づく負荷電圧を選択的に印加してその駆動用トランジスタの閾値電圧の範囲を狭くする第6の手段をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 上記閾値電圧関連信号に基づき、単一の負荷電圧が選択されて印加されるか、印加されない、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 上記閾値電圧関連信号に基づき、複数ある負荷電圧のうちの1つが選択されて印加される、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 各駆動用トランジスタの信号電圧に対する調節値がさらに提供され、初期閾値電圧からのその調節値がすべての駆動用トランジスタで同じである、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 上記閾値電圧関連信号が決定され、上記負荷電圧がディスプレイの各行について選択される、請求項1に記載の装置。
