Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a display technique using a diffractive structure.
When a diffractive structure such as a diffraction grating and a hologram is configured with a concavo-convex pattern as described in Patent Document 1, it is necessary to form a pattern having a line width of the order of micrometers or nanometers. The planar shape and cross-sectional shape of the concavo-convex pattern have a great influence on the performance of the diffractive structure. Therefore, high accuracy is required to form the concavo-convex pattern.
In the manufacture of a display body including a concavo-convex pattern as a diffractive structure, generally, a mold is manufactured and the concavo-convex pattern of the mold is transferred to a resin layer. Specifically, first, electron beam drawing is performed on the resist layer to obtain an original plate including a concavo-convex pattern made of resin. Next, a mold including an inverted pattern of the concavo-convex pattern provided on the original plate is obtained by electroforming. Thereafter, the mold pattern is transferred to a thermoplastic resin or ionizing radiation curable resin layer to produce a plurality of plates, and a plurality of dies are produced from these plates by electroforming. By transferring the concavo-convex pattern of the mold thus obtained to the resin layer, a resin layer having a concavo-convex pattern on one main surface can be obtained.
Electron beam drawing is suitable for forming a fine pattern. However, in electron beam drawing, if the pattern area increases, more time is required for drawing. Therefore, according to electron beam drawing, it is difficult to manufacture a display body having a large display area with high productivity.
In addition, in electron beam drawing, it is necessary to stabilize the operation of the apparatus and its surrounding environment from the start to the end of drawing. It is very difficult to stabilize the operation of the apparatus and the surrounding environment for a long time. That is, the larger the display area, the higher the possibility that the pattern shape accuracy will be insufficient.
In addition, if the display area is large, there is a high possibility that a missing portion will occur in the pattern during pattern transfer from the original plate to the mold and pattern transfer from the mold to the resin layer, and from the mold of the resin layer. There exists a tendency for mold release property to become inadequate. This problem is particularly noticeable when forming a pattern with a line width of the order of nanometers or when forming a pattern having a cross-sectional shape with a high aspect ratio.
An object of the present invention is to make it possible to easily achieve high productivity and display as designed even when the display area is large.

FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken along line IV-IV of the display shown in FIG. FIG. 5 is a plan view schematically showing a diffractive structure layer of the display shown in FIG.
In these drawings, the X direction is a direction parallel to the main surface of the display body, the Y direction is a direction parallel to the main surface of the display body and intersects the X direction, and the Z direction is the X direction and This is a direction perpendicular to the Y direction. Here, the X direction and the Y direction are substantially orthogonal to each other, but they may intersect obliquely.

As shown in FIG. 4, the

These unit regions can be arranged in a lattice shape such as a square lattice, a rectangular lattice, or a triangular lattice. Here, as an example, the unit regions are arranged in a substantially square lattice pattern.
An uneven pattern DP shown in FIGS. 3 to 5 is provided in a part of each unit region. Each uneven pattern DP constitutes a diffractive structure such as a diffraction grating and a hologram. These concavo-convex patterns DP have the same structure and the same orientation.
mλ=d(sinθi±sinθ)
The diffractive structure displays a diffracted image that causes a color change according to the incident direction of the illumination light and the observation direction. The color of the diffracted image can be controlled by the spatial frequency of the grooves constituting the diffractive structure, and the following equation is taken into consideration when designing the color.
mλ = d (sin θ i ± sin θ)
Here, m represents the diffraction order, λ represents the wavelength of the illumination light, θ i represents the incident angle of the illumination light, and θ represents the exit angle or diffraction angle of the m-th order diffracted light.
In this
The uneven pattern DP is regularly arranged corresponding to the unit area. Here, as an example, as shown in FIG. 5, each concavo-convex pattern DP is located substantially at the center of the unit region.

The

The
The

When the

As the material of the lens array, for example, thermoplastic resin materials such as acrylic resins, polycarbonate resins, styrene resins, and acrylic / styrene copolymer resins, or ultraviolet curable resins can be used. As a material for the lens array, an inorganic material containing a silicate may be used instead of using a resin. The material of the lens array may be higher in viscosity than the material of the
The
The
In the
FIG. 6 is a plan view schematically showing an example of an image displayed by the display shown in FIG. 1 when the lens array is omitted. FIG. 7 is a plan view schematically showing an example of an image displayed by the display body shown in FIG. FIG. 8 is a plan view schematically showing another example of an image displayed by the display shown in FIG. FIG. 6 shows only a part of the display body, and FIGS. 7 and 8 show the entire display body.
When the lens array is omitted from the
If the arrangement of the concave / convex pattern DP and the arrangement of the
Thus, the
In addition, in the
Further, when the concavo-convex pattern DP is provided only in a part of the unit region, the releasability from the mold of the concavo-
Therefore, even if this
The ratio of the magnified image I D ′ to the size of the diffracted image I D , that is, the magnification ratio changes according to the angle α shown in FIG. Note that the angle α is an angle formed by the unit region row and the
In the

In FIG. 9, a diffracted image I D displayed by them is drawn instead of the concavo-convex pattern DP.
The
The

The
The
The

Specifically, first, using an electron beam drawing apparatus, an original plate was manufactured in which grooves arranged at a spatial frequency of 2000 lines / mm were formed in a square region having a side of 100 mm. And the metal mold | die was manufactured from this original plate by electroforming. When this mold was visually inspected, it was confirmed that the uneven pattern had a portion with insufficient uniformity.
Next, an acrylic resin was injected into the mold as an ultraviolet curable resin, and this resin layer and a PET film having a thickness of 50 μm were laminated. The resin was cured by irradiating ultraviolet rays from the PET film side, and then peeled from the mold together with the resin layer on which the PET film was cured.
This peeling required a large force. Further, during this peeling, zipping occurred, and when the molding was repeated three times, a peeling failure occurred, and the resin layer could not be peeled from the mold.
