Diffractive structures such as holograms and diffraction gratings require special techniques for their manufacture and provide visual effects that cannot be reproduced by printing. Therefore, as described in Patent Document 1, articles such as banknotes, securities, and credit cards may support a display body including a diffractive structure for the purpose of preventing counterfeiting.

FIG. 2 is an enlarged perspective view showing a part of the display body shown in FIG. FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line III-III of the display shown in FIG. 4 is an enlarged cross-sectional view showing a part of the structure shown in FIG. In FIGS. 1 to 4, directions parallel to the display surface and orthogonal to each other are defined as an X direction and a Y direction, and a direction perpendicular to the display surface is defined as a Z direction.
Note that FIG. 1 illustrates a state in which the
As shown in FIGS. 2 to 4, the
A concave structure and / or a convex structure is provided on one main surface of the relief
The front main surface of the relief
The
The
The pitch P of the array of the
The pitch P is, for example, 300 nm or more, and typically 330 nm or more. When the pitch P is small, the
It should be noted that the position of the tip of the
The dimension in the Z direction of the
The ratio D / R of the depth D to the maximum diameter R is, for example, in the range of 0.400 to 1.667, and typically in the range of 0.625 to 1.364. When the ratio D / R is decreased, the reflectance of the
The relief
This original plate is manufactured using, for example, an electron beam drawing apparatus. Usually, a reverse plate is manufactured by transferring the uneven structure of the original plate, and a duplicate plate is manufactured by transferring the uneven structure of the reverse plate. Then, if necessary, a reversal plate is manufactured using the copy plate as an original plate, and the uneven structure of the reversal plate is transferred to further manufacture a copy plate. In actual production, a copy obtained in this way is usually used.
As a material of the relief
A surface treatment such as an antireflection treatment, a hard coat treatment, an antistatic treatment, and an antifouling treatment may be performed on the back surface of the relief

As a material of the
Each region of the
Typically, the relative position of the

The
When the front surface of the
FIG. 5 is a plan view schematically showing an example of an image displayed by the display shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 when observed from a direction perpendicular to the display surface while being illuminated with white light.
As described above, in the display portion DP1, the fine
Of the interface, in the region corresponding to the
Since the pitch of the diffractive structure is 500 nm or less, the diffracted light is not emitted in the direction perpendicular to the display surface or the diffracted light emitted in the direction perpendicular to the display surface has a wavelength with low visibility. Only light. Accordingly, the display unit DP1 displays black.
In the display unit DP2, the interface between the relief
Accordingly, when viewed from the Z direction, the
FIG. 6 is a perspective view schematically showing an example of an image displayed by the display shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 when observed from diagonally forward to the display surface while illuminating with white light. FIG. 7 is a perspective view schematically showing an example of an image displayed by the display shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 when observed from the diagonally left front with respect to the display surface while illuminating with white light. FIG. 6 shows an image that can be visually recognized by the observer VW1 shown in FIG. FIG. 7 depicts an image that is visible to the viewer VW2 shown in FIG.
As shown in FIG. 4, the
Therefore, under a specific pitch P and a specific lighting condition, when the observer observes the
Accordingly, the display unit DP1 appears colored to the viewer VW1 as shown in FIG. Then, for the viewer VW2, the display unit DP1 looks black as shown in FIG. 7, for example.
Thus, the display portion DP1 of the
Moreover, since the
When the
When the
As described above, high light absorption and light reflectance can be achieved when the thickness of the
8 to 10 are graphs showing examples of the influence of the thickness of the reflective layer on the optical characteristics. In the figure, the horizontal axis indicates the thickness of the reflective layer, and the vertical axis indicates the reflectance, transmittance, or absorption of the reflective layer as a percentage.
8 to 10 show data obtained by the FDTD method (fine difference time domain method) widely used for optical simulation. Specifically, FIG. 8 shows data for blue light, FIG. 9 shows data for green light, and FIG. 10 shows data for red light. This calculation is performed assuming that the material of the reflective layer is aluminum.
As is apparent from FIGS. 8 to 10, in the visible light region, if the film thickness is 10 nm or less, the transmittance is high and the reflectance is small. And if a film thickness is 50 nm or more, a reflectance will be large and it will hardly receive to the influence of a film thickness. Although data obtained for aluminum is shown here, similar results are obtained for other metals.
The area ratio of the region corresponding to the

Examples of the present invention will be described below.
(Example)
In this example, the
First, an ultraviolet curable resin was applied onto a PET film having a thickness of 75 μm. Next, the ultraviolet curable resin was cured by irradiating ultraviolet rays from the PET film side while pressing the original plate having a plurality of convex portions on the plate surface against the previous coating film. Then, the relief
Next, the
The
When the

(Comparative example)
A display body was manufactured in the same manner as in the above example except that the relief structure forming layer was placed in a vacuum vapor deposition apparatus so that its main surface was horizontal and the reflective layer was formed with a thickness. The reflective layer of this display body did not include an opening and had a thickness of about 30 nm over the whole.
When the
