Abstract
コネクタの一方のみがアダプタ内に挿入されるときに、塵埃及び他の夾雑物並びに眼損傷から保護するために、ばね付勢式自動シャッタがアダプタ内に設けられる。コネクタとアダプタとを係合解除するリリース機構により、小型コネクタが扱いやすくなる。リリース機構が動作すると、コネクタとアダプタの切り離しは、強い引張力を必要とせずに能動的に行われる。

Claims (24)
- 多芯光ファイバ相互接続システムであって、
長手方向軸に沿って複数の光ファイバを保持するコネクタと、
該コネクタと動作可能に接続するように構成されるアダプタと
を備え、
前記アダプタは、第1の押進力が前記コネクタに加えられると前記コネクタを受け入れるとともに該コネクタに結合して、動作可能な接続方式で前記コネクタを取り外し可能に嵌め入れるように構成される結合機構を備え、
前記結合機構はさらに、第2の押進力が前記コネクタに加えられると前記コネクタを前記アダプタから結合解除することが可能であり、それにより、前記コネクタを前記アダプタから引き抜くことができる、多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。 - 前記押進力は前記長手方向軸に沿って加えられる、請求項1に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記コネクタはさらに、前記押進力を加えるための押進領域を外部に有する、請求項1に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- スタイラス部材を用いて前記押進領域に前記押進力を加える、請求項2に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記コネクタはストレインリリーフブーツを備える、請求項1に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記ストレインリリーフブーツは直線状である、請求項5に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記ストレインリリーフブーツは傾斜している、請求項5に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記アダプタは、前記結合機構へのアクセスを選択的に防止して夾雑物及び眼損傷から選択的に保護するようにするシャッタをさらに備える、請求項1に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記シャッタは、前記コネクタが前記アダプタに接続されていないときに閉位置にばね付勢される、請求項8に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 多芯光ファイバコネクタとアダプタとを接続及び接続解除する方法であって、
前記アダプタが前記コネクタを嵌め入れるまで前記アダプタへ向けて第1の押進力を前記コネクタに加えるステップと、
動作可能な構成で前記コネクタを前記アダプタと係合させるステップと、
前記コネクタを前記アダプタから係合解除するとともに抜くことを可能にするように、前記アダプタへ向けて第2の押進力を前記コネクタに加えるステップと
を含む、多芯光ファイバコネクタとアダプタとを接続及び接続解除する方法。 - スタイラス部材を用いることであって、それにより、前記押進力を前記コネクタに加えて前記コネクタを前記アダプタに対し接続及び接続解除する、スタイラス部材を用いることをさらに含む、請求項10に記載の多芯光ファイバコネクタとアダプタとを接続及び接続解除する方法。
- 多芯光ファイバ相互接続システムであって、
長手方向軸に沿って複数の光ファイバを保持するコネクタと、
前記コネクタと動作可能に接続するように構成されるとともに内部を有するアダプタと
を備え、
前記コネクタは、該コネクタに固着されるとともに該コネクタから突出して前記アダプタの前記内部に挿入することが可能な一対のピン部材を備え、
前記アダプタは、第1の押進力が前記コネクタに加えられると前記コネクタを受け入れるとともに該コネクタに結合して、動作可能な接続方式で前記コネクタを取り外し可能に嵌め入れるように構成される結合機構を備え、
前記結合機構は、前記第1の押進力が前記コネクタに加えられる際に前記アダプタと前記コネクタとが係合すると前記ピン部材を保持することが可能なばね付勢式ピボット部材をさらに備え、
前記ピン部材は、第2の押進力が前記コネクタに加えられると前記コネクタを前記アダプタから係合解除するとともに抜くことができるように自由位置に付勢される、多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。 - 前記第1の押進力及び前記第2の押進力は、前記長手方向軸に沿ってほぼ同じ方向に加えられる、請求項12に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記ピン部材は、ほぼ四角の横断面を有する部分を有することで、取り外し可能に前記ピボット部材と係合する、請求項12に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記アダプタは、該アダプタの前記内部へのアクセスを選択的に防止して夾雑物及び眼損傷から保護するようにするシャッタをさらに備える、請求項12に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記シャッタは、前記コネクタが前記アダプタの前記内部に挿入されていないときに閉位置にばね付勢される、請求項15に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 多芯光ファイバ相互接続システムであって、
内部、及び該内部につながる両端に少なくとも2つの開口を有する本体と、
少なくとも2つのコネクタと
を備え、
前記コネクタはそれぞれ、前記本体の前記端の開口を介して前記本体の内部に嵌め入れることが可能なフェルールを備え、
前記本体はさらに、前記本体内での、少なくとも2つのコネクタのうち第2のコネクタのフェルールとの動作可能な位置合わせされた端どうしの接触状態で、前記少なくとも2つのコネクタのうち第1のコネクタの前記フェルールを嵌め入れることが可能である、多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。 - 前記フェルールは、前記少なくとも2つのコネクタ内でばね付勢される、請求項17に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記少なくとも2つのコネクタのそれぞれの前記フェルールの前記ばね付勢は、前記コネクタ内で前記フェルールを前方に付勢する役割を果たす2つのコイルばねによってもたらされる、請求項18に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記コネクタは、ストレインリリーフブーツを備える、請求項17に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記ストレインリリーフブーツは直線状である、請求項17に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記ストレインリリーフブーツは傾斜している、請求項17に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記アダプタは、前記少なくとも2つの開口を選択的に覆う一対のシャッタをさらに備える、請求項17に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
- 前記シャッタは、前記少なくとも2つのコネクタが前記本体の前記内部に挿入されていないときに閉位置にばね付勢される、請求項23に記載の多芯光ファイバ相互接続システム。
