Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a filter for converting the light emission color of a light emitting element, and a light emitting device such as a display using the color conversion filter.
White light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are often used as backlights in liquid crystal displays (LCDs) for mobile phones and flat-screen TVs. As a white LED for these uses, as in the light emitting devices described in Patent Documents 1 and 2, a blue LED and a phosphor that emits yellow light when excited by blue light (hereinafter referred to as a yellow phosphor) are combined. A structure that emits white light by mixing blue light and yellow light is known.
In the light-emitting devices described in Patent Documents 1 and 2, when a metal plate or metal wire mesh having a plurality of penetrating lights is used as a heat dissipation member, the metal plate or metal wire mesh is diffused by light diffusion in the phosphor layer. This prevents the shadows from appearing in the emitted light. For this reason, when the structure of these light emitting devices is used for a display device including a plurality of blue LEDs and displaying a plurality of white dots, crosstalk may occur between adjacent dots due to light diffusion in the phosphor layer. There is.
An object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting device capable of efficiently suppressing a temperature rise of a phosphor layer and preventing crosstalk when performing dot display.
In order to achieve the above object, according to the first aspect of the present invention, the following light emitting device is provided. That is, it has a plurality of light emitting elements arranged on the substrate and a color conversion filter arranged at a position facing the surface of the substrate on which the light emitting elements are arranged. A phosphor layer including a phosphor excited by emitted light, and a heat conductive film disposed on the surface of the phosphor layer on the light emitting element side and having higher thermal conductivity than the phosphor layer are provided. In the phosphor layer, recesses are formed around a plurality of regions respectively facing the plurality of light emitting elements, the heat conductive film is disposed on the inner wall of the recesses, and the regions are provided with openings.
Thereby, the light emitted from the light emitting element enters the phosphor layer from the opening of the heat conducting film. The light incident on the phosphor layer and the fluorescence generated in the phosphor layer are mixed and emitted from the phosphor layer. At this time, light is scattered in the in-plane direction inside the phosphor layer, and the concave portion prevents the phosphor layer from reaching the upper part of the opening of the adjacent thermal conductive film, thereby realizing dot display while preventing crosstalk. it can. Further, since the heat of the phosphor layer can be efficiently dissipated from the heat conductive film on the inner wall of the recess, uneven color due to the temperature rise of the phosphor layer can be prevented.
The above-described heat conductive film can be made of a metal material or a resin material. Further, the phosphor layer can be composed of a plurality of layers each including a phosphor excited by light emitted from the light emitting element, and the fluorescence emitted from the plurality of layers can have different wavelengths. Is possible.
On the surface of the phosphor layer opposite to the surface on which the heat conductive film is disposed, a light shielding member having an opening can be disposed at a position facing the opening of the heat conductive film. Thereby, the edge of the dot displayed with the light emitted from the phosphor layer can be sharpened. The light shielding member can include a base material and a filler dispersed in the base material. Thereby, it is possible to dissipate heat not only from the heat conductive film but also from the light shielding member.
For example, the light emitting element emits blue light, and the phosphor layer can be configured to convert part of the blue light into fluorescence and mix the fluorescence and blue light to emit white light.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a color conversion filter for converting the emission colors of a plurality of light emitting elements, the phosphor layer including a phosphor excited by light emitted from the light emitting elements, And a thermal conductive film disposed on the light emitting element side surface of the body layer and having higher thermal conductivity than the phosphor layer, and the phosphor layer has a plurality of regions around the plurality of regions corresponding to the plurality of light emitting elements. A concave portion is formed, the heat conductive film is disposed on the inner wall of the concave portion, and a color conversion filter having openings in a plurality of regions can be provided.
According to the present invention, the temperature rise of the phosphor layer can be efficiently suppressed, and the scattering of light in the phosphor layer can be kept within the region surrounded by the recesses, so that crosstalk can be prevented and dot display can be performed. A light emitting device suitable for the above can be provided.
An embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
(First embodiment)
A dot matrix display using the color conversion filter of the first embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS.
As shown in FIG. 1, the dot matrix display according to the first embodiment includes a
The
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2A, the
The
A
One
Although not shown, a control circuit and a power circuit are connected to the
Next, a method for manufacturing the display shown in FIG. 1 will be described.
First, a method for manufacturing the
Next, the
The
The
On the other hand, the
Next, the operation of the dot matrix display of FIG. 1 will be described.
The predetermined
At this time, the
Further, even when a part of the convex portion of the
In the display shown in FIG. 2, since the
As described above, since the dot matrix display of the first embodiment can use the
Further, since light is raised by the
Further, by arranging the
The
Furthermore, for example, a method of forming the
After the
Note that the dot matrix display device having the configuration of FIG. 2 does not necessarily include the
(Second Embodiment)
As a second embodiment, the
Similar to the color conversion filter 110 of the first embodiment, the
That is, the
3A shows an example in which the depth of the
In the second embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3B, the
Also, a dot matrix display can be configured as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 using the
As in the first and second embodiments described above, since the display device of the present invention has good heat dissipation of the color conversion filter, it is possible to prevent a decrease in the amount of light due to temperature quenching of the phosphor, and to shift the emission wavelength. Can be prevented. Further, crosstalk between dots can be prevented.
Note that the present invention is not limited to a dot matrix display, and various light emitting devices such as those for illumination can be configured by changing the arrangement and arrangement of LEDs.
Further, by changing the phosphor concentration and thickness of the phosphor filter of the color conversion filter, it is possible to easily configure displays and light emitting devices having various color temperatures.
In the present invention, since the
In the above description, a blue LED is used as an example, but an ultraviolet LED having an emission wavelength of, for example, about 380 nm can also be used. In such a case, a phosphor suitable for converting near-ultraviolet light into visible light is selected. For example, BAM: Eu (BaMgAl 10 O 17 : Eu) can be used as a phosphor that converts near ultraviolet light into blue, and (Sr, Ca, Ba) SiO 4 : Eu can be used as a phosphor that converts green.
Furthermore, the emission color of the display device or the light emitting device may be other than white, for example, reddish purple, blue green, or a warm-colored bulb color, depending on the combination of the phosphor and the LED.
In the display devices of the first and second embodiments described above, the white light emitting surface of the

(Evaluation)
As a display for evaluation in this example, the display of FIG. 1 was manufactured using a green phosphor. That is,
The evaluation
As a display of a comparative example, a green phosphor Sr 0.6 Ca 0.4 Ga 2 S 4 : Eu in which 5 wt% is dispersed in silicone (manufactured by Toray Industries, Inc., JCR6175) is prepared. It apply | coated on the attached board |
A drive current was supplied to the blue LEDs of the display for evaluation of the above example and the display of the comparative example, and the intensity of emitted blue-green light was measured. The result is shown in FIG. FIG. 4 is a graph showing the relative change of the luminance when the display device of the example and the display device of the comparative example are driven at a current of 350 mA, with the luminance being 1. As shown in FIG. 4, as the drive current increases, the emission intensity increases in both the example and the comparative example. However, when the drive current exceeds 400 mA, the emission intensity increases in the example, whereas the reverse in the comparative example. Shows a tendency for the emission intensity to decrease.
This is presumably because, in the display device of the comparative example, when the driving current was 400 mA or more, the temperature of the phosphor increased and temperature quenching occurred. In contrast, in this example, the increase in the emission intensity continued to the vicinity of the drive current of 750 mA. This is presumably because in the display device of the example, the heat of the phosphor filter was effectively dissipated by the
