Description

The present invention
The present invention relates to a cowl top garnish that is disposed between a front hood and a windshield of a vehicle and has a contact edge on the rear end side in contact with the front surface of the lower end of the windshield.

A vehicle such as an automobile is provided with a cowl box above the dash panel, which serves as an intake port for outside air into the vehicle and in which a wiper drive mechanism is disposed. The cowl top garnish is arranged at the upper part of the cowl box so as to decorate between the rear end of the front hood and the front end (lower end) of the windshield and cover the upper part of the cowl box.

The cowl top garnish is a resin molded product having an air inlet, and has a structure that prevents foreign matters such as snow, leaves, and dust from entering the vehicle when introducing outside air into the vehicle. When such a cowl top garnish is assembled to the vehicle body, it looks bad if there is a gap between the rear end of the cowl top garnish and the lower end (front end) of the windshield. Therefore, a structure for eliminating the gap has been devised.

As an example, a clip or the like is attached to the back side near the rear end of the cowl top garnish, and the rear end of the cowl top garnish is firmly pressed against the lower end of the windshield by fixing the vicinity of the rear end to the vehicle body. There was one technology. However, in the first technique, there is a problem that the gap between the fixing point of the vehicle body and the windshield is misaligned or is too strongly contacted. When the number of clips is small, the pressing force becomes uneven, and it is difficult to eliminate the gap over the entire width of the cowl top garnish.

In order to solve this problem, as disclosed in Patent Document 1, a second technique has been proposed in which a separate soft molding is attached to the rear end of the cowl top garnish. However, in the second technique, there is a problem that a separate molding is required, the number of components increases, and it takes time to attach the molding to the rear end.

On the other hand, as disclosed in Patent Document 2, on the back side of the rear end portion of the cowl top garnish, a plurality of L-shaped cross sections that form a U-shaped sandwiching groove together with the rear end portion are formed. There is a third technique in which sandwiching pieces are integrally formed at regular intervals in the vehicle width direction, and the lower end portion of the windshield is elastically sandwiched by the sandwiching grooves. In this technique, the width of the clamping groove is formed to be narrower than the thickness of the lower end portion of the windshield so as to ensure a sealing property between the rear end portion of the cowl top garnish and the lower end portion of the windshield.
JP-A-8-119145 JP-A-5-97060

According to the third technique, although the gap can be easily eliminated without increasing the number of parts,
(1) The holding groove must be lifted from the front lower side of the lower end of the windshield to the rear upper side along the windshield, and the lower end of the windshield must be inserted and fitted into the holding groove,
(2) Since the width of the holding groove is narrower than the thickness of the lower end portion of the windshield, it is difficult to fit the lower end portion of the windshield into the holding groove.
It took time to assemble the holding groove to the windshield, leaving room for improvement in terms of assembly.

The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and its purpose is to be able to be easily attached to the windshield while having a structure in which no gap is formed between the lower edge of the windshield. It is to provide a cowl top garnish that is easy to assemble.

As shown in FIG. 5, the cross section is inserted into the insertion hole 15 formed in the vehicle body 8 and prevents the rear end portion 3 from being displaced in the front lower part 2G along the windshield 2 with respect to the windshield 2. A square boss 16 is provided integrally with the rear end 3 on the back side of the rear end 3, and a guide piece 17 for guiding the boss 16 to the insertion hole 15 is provided integrally with the lower end of the boss 16. In the present embodiment, three bosses 16 are arranged at intervals in the vehicle width direction, but the number of bosses 16 is not limited to three. The boss 16 is integrally formed with the rear end portion 3 via a hollow support portion 19, and protrudes from the hollow support portion 19 in a direction along the thickness direction T of the windshield 2. The guide piece 17 protrudes from one end portion of the boss 16 on the side far from the lower end surface 2K of the windshield 2 in a longitudinal side view, and is inclined slightly rearwardly with respect to the thickness direction T. Thereby, the boss 16 can be smoothly guided to the insertion hole 15.
The boss 16 inserted into the insertion hole 15 receives the elastic reaction force (elastic restoring force) of the engaging claw 10 elastically engaged with the lower end portion 5 of the windshield 2 together with the vehicle body 8 and engages it. The engagement state between the clamping claw portion 13 of the joint claw 10 and the lower end portion 5 of the windshield 2 is maintained. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the holding claw portion 13 of the engaging claw 10 from being detached from the lower end portion 5 of the windshield 2.
Further, when the cowl top garnish 100 is assembled to the windshield 2, the position of the cowl top garnish 100 can be determined by the guide piece 17. Specifically, before the engaging claw 10 and the lower end portion 5 of the windshield 2 abut, the guide piece 17 starts to enter the insertion hole 15, and the position of the cowl top garnish 100 is roughly determined. As a result, when the engaging claw 10 comes into contact with the lower end portion 5 of the windshield 2, the engaging claw 10 is not subjected to excessive contact force from the lower end portion 5 of the windshield 2. This can prevent the assembly work.

The cowl top garnish 100 having the above structure is assembled to the windshield 2 as follows (see FIGS. 4A to 4C and 5).
(1) Three bosses 16 are inserted into the insertion hole 15 on the vehicle body 8 side, and the rear surface 12K of the second claw body 12 of the engaging claw 10 is placed on the windshield 2 as shown in FIG. It is made to contact | abut to the 2nd corner part C2 formed by the lower end surface 2K and the front surface 5F of the lower end part 5 of the windshield 2. FIG.
(2) Push the rear end portion 3 of the cowl top garnish 100 toward the windshield 2 in the thickness direction T of the windshield 2. As a result, the rear surface 12K of the second claw main body portion 12 of the engagement claw 10 is pressed against the lower end surface 2K of the windshield 2, and the engagement claw 10 slightly swings forward and downward 2G with the second hinge portion 22 as a fulcrum. At the same time, the second claw body 12 swings toward the first claw body 11 with the first hinge 21 as a fulcrum. Thereafter, the second claw body 12 is elastically restored and the clamping claw 13 of the engagement claw 10 is elastically engaged with the lower end 5 of the windshield 2. That is, the stepped surface 14 of the clamping claw 13 is pressed against the first corner C1 formed by the lower end surface 2K of the windshield 2 and the rear surface 5M of the lower end 5 of the windshield 2, The rear end portion 3 holds the lower end portion 5 of the windshield 2.
(3) The front end portion 6 of the cowl top garnish 100 is fixed to the vehicle body 8 with a plurality of clips 7 arranged at intervals in the vehicle width direction (see FIG. 2).
