Abstract

Description
Claims (10)
- チタン又はアルファ合金,ニアアルファ合金及びアルファ−ベータ合金より成るグループから選択されたチタン合金の中間形態品を作成する工程と、
続いてチタン又はチタン合金を時効硬化させる時に、所望レベルの強度を確保させるために選択された温度及び時間条件下で前記中間形態品を固溶化熱処理する工程と、
固溶化熱処理を施した前記中間形態品を加工熱処理して所望の部品又は所望の部品の前形態品に形成する工程と、
前記形成された部品又は前形態品を、所望の強度レベルを確保するために選択された温度及び時間条件下で時効硬化させる工程とを含む、チタン又はチタン合金から部品を製造するための方法。 - 前記中間形態品をアルファ−ベータチタン合金から作成する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 約6重量%のアルミニウム,約4重量%のバナジウムを含有し、残部がチタンと通常の不純物であるチタン合金から前記中間形態品を作成する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記中間形態品を作成する前記工程が、チタン合金をワイヤー,ロッド及びバーから成るグループより選択された長尺形態品に作成する工程を含んでいる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 固溶化熱処理を施した前記中間形態品を加工熱処理形成する前記工程が、長尺形態品をほぼ均一な長さの複数のピースにカットし、それらピースを高温に加熱してから、鍛造,ヘッディング,押出し加工又はこれらの組合せより成るグループから選択された形成処理によって所望の部品又は前形態品を形成する工程を含んでいる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 固溶化熱処理を施した前記中間形態品を加工熱処理形成する前記工程が、前記形成工程後に前記部品を高温から迅速に冷却する工程を含んでいる、請求項5に記載の方法。
- チタン又はチタン合金から中間形態品を作成する前記工程が、約0.10重量%以下の炭素と約0.05重量%以下の窒素と約0.0125重量%以下の水素と、約0.20重量%以下の酸素とを含有するようにチタン又はチタン合金を調製する工程を含んでいる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- チタン又はチタン合金を調製する前記工程が、チタン又はチタン合金が約0.17重量%以下の酸素を含むようにチタン又はチタン合金の溶解を制御する工程を含んでいる、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 中間形態品を固溶化熱処理する前記工程が、前記中間形態品を少なくとも約1分〜約2時間、約899〜968℃の温度で加熱し、次に前記中間形態品を水で焼入れする工程を含んでいる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 固溶化熱処理を施した前記中間形態品を加工熱処理形成する前記工程が、約871〜427℃の温度で前記中間形態を機械加工する工程を含んでいる、請求項1に記載の方法。
