Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to thinning applied to a drill tip in order to improve the performance of the drill.
In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in the demand for fine drilling in high-density printed circuit boards, diesel engine fuel injection nozzles, chemical fiber spinning nozzles, bare chip solder ball jigs, and the like. In addition, in these micro-drilling applications, there are some which require a very high aspect ratio drilling, for example, a depth of 4 mm for a diameter of 0.2 mm. In these micro deep hole machining, the machining point of the tip to be cut at the time of cutting stays long in the material that is the work material intermittently, and there is no escape space for the heat generated from the tip. Since the temperature at the point of contact between the drill tip and the member to be drilled becomes very high, twist drills made of a cemented carbide that is difficult to soften even at high temperatures are mainly used.
However, since the cemented carbide has low toughness, there is a drawback that breakage is likely to occur at a fine diameter. Recently, attempts have been made to improve toughness and hardness by refining crystal grains of WC (tungsten carbide), but it is still insufficient in terms of practicality.
Furthermore, in such a deep hole drilling with a fine diameter, it is difficult to discharge chips, and the temperature of the processing point is high, so that there is a problem that chip welding is likely to occur. When a weld deposit adheres to the tip of the drill, the drilling function inherent to the drill is significantly reduced. However, in the case of a fine-diameter drill, the extremely small size of the weld deposit has a relatively large effect on the overall drill size. Therefore, the adverse effect of this weld is not the ratio of a normal drill.
From such a viewpoint, the inventors have paid attention to so-called thinning. Thinning is to form a notch with a specific shape at the tip of a drill. In drilling with a drill, the so-called “chisel” at the tip of the drill is pressed against the material in the axial direction, and the material is removed by plastic deformation. Is preferred. In this respect, since a thick drill has sufficient strength, a large axial pressing force can be obtained, but in a fine drill, a large axial pressing force causes a seat refraction loss. Therefore, it is desirable to reduce the size of the “chisel” itself by thinning so that the drill has a smaller diameter so that the pressing force of the chisel portion can be earned even with an axial pressing force that does not cause the refraction loss of the drill itself. . In order to achieve that purpose, the chisel portion is made smaller by thinning, and as a result, the temperature at the machining point is reduced, and the discharge of chips generated during cutting is improved, so that the chips are welded to the drill. Reduce. This thinning process itself is a known technique.
This technique is required to be machined with high accuracy in rotational symmetry as the diameter of the drill becomes smaller, and there are very few commercially available products that have been thinned with a drill having a diameter of 3 mm or less.
Conventionally, as an apparatus for performing a thinning process on the tip of a drill,
The automatic drill polishing machine described in
On the other hand, the drill grinding apparatus described in
Both devices are said to be capable of thinning the tip of the drill with a rotating grindstone.
However, the apparatuses as described in
For example, in the solid axis, the cross-sectional secondary moment indicating the rigidity is proportional to the fourth power of the diameter. For example, if the solid axes of the outer diameters of 3 mm and 0.3 mm are compared, the difference in rigidity is 10,000 times. Accordingly, the rigidity of the twist drill having a fine diameter in which a groove for discharging chips is provided on the solid shaft is further reduced. Since the drill with a small diameter is extremely low in rigidity compared to a drill with a normal thickness, if the thinning process is performed using a conventional device, the processing position will slightly shift during polishing. The drill easily broke when the load received from the rotating whetstone increased. Even if the thinning process does not cause breakage, a drill with inadequate machining accuracy is easily broken during actual drilling and cannot be established as a “product”.
As a result, the existing drilling apparatus cannot cope with the thinning of such a fine diameter drill, and has to rely on manual work by skilled workers. However, the number of skilled workers is limited, and the number that can be processed is small. In addition, the thinning process requires the same shape of rotational symmetry to be applied to at least two locations on the tip of a single drill, but the thinning process of the same quality is always processed even by skilled workers. It was difficult. As a result, only a good product was shipped from among the skilled workers, and the yield was remarkably low, leading to high costs.
Under such circumstances, it is impossible to provide a large number of drills for fine holes with excellent performance at a low cost in accordance with the recent demands of the industry.
The present invention has been made to solve these problems, and aims to form a thinning accurately at the tip of the drill. In particular, in a fine diameter drill, a special technique can be used without relying on a skilled worker. An object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus and method capable of performing an accurate thinning process without necessity.
The present invention provides a chuck unit capable of holding a drill to be thinned, a grindstone unit having a rotating grindstone and fixed at a specific position, and at least the chuck unit for the rotating grindstone. A stage unit that can be moved and positioned in the Y-axis direction that is the axial direction of the X-axis and the X-axis direction that is a direction perpendicular to the axial direction in the horizontal plane, and the drill at a predetermined position other than the thinning position of the drill And a thinning device that performs thinning at the thinning position by driving and controlling the stage unit from the origin with the predetermined position as an origin. Is a solution.
The present invention also provides a chuck unit capable of holding a drill to be thinned, a grindstone unit having a rotating grindstone and fixed at a specific position, and the chuck unit at least for the grindstone. A stage unit capable of moving and positioning in the Y-axis direction, which is the axial direction of the drill, and the X-axis direction, which is a direction perpendicular to the axial direction in the horizontal plane, and a predetermined position other than the thinning position of the drill, A thinning forming method using a drill thinning apparatus including a positioning unit that enables positioning of a drill, the thinning forming method including a step of driving and controlling the stage unit from the predetermined position with the predetermined position as an original point By providing, the above-mentioned problems are solved.
If thinning is applied to the tip of a fine diameter drill, very high positional accuracy is required. However, as described above, with a conventionally proposed apparatus, thinning of a fine diameter drill should be performed satisfactorily. I couldn't. The reason for this is not necessarily clear, but it is conjectured that all the conventional devices have a grindstone moving means for moving the rotating grindstone and a drill chuck moving means for moving the drill chuck, It is considered that the rotary grindstone and the drill chuck move together during cutting, and there are many position variation factors to be managed, and the error is cumulatively increased. In particular, when moving the rotating grindstone, the rotating grindstone itself has a very large mass relative to the absolute dimensions of the drill to be processed, so its accuracy is naturally limited. Inferred.
In the present invention, the drive / control mode of the conventional apparatus is drastically changed. First, the grindstone unit having the rotating grindstone is fixed at a specific position. Thereby, the position variation element of the grindstone can be removed from the entire apparatus. “Wheel moves” means that even if the axis (parameter) to which the grinding wheel should move is limited, considering that there is an error in the installation of the guide system, the error generating element must be three-dimensional. Will exist. However, in the present invention, since the position of the grindstone unit that is particularly heavy is fixed and removed from the position variation element, the cause of the positional error is eliminated with respect to the grindstone. Therefore, the position accuracy of the entire apparatus can be greatly improved.
In the present invention, since the drill is positioned at a position different from the thinning position by the positioning unit, the presence of a grindstone or the like does not get in the way when positioning the drill, and there is no obstacle at all. For example, an extremely accurate drill positioning is possible by an optical method. Therefore, there is almost no error in setting the drill origin position.
Accordingly, since thinning is performed by driving the stage unit with the predetermined position that can be accurately determined as the origin, the cause of the error occurring in the entire apparatus is represented by the XY plane of the stage unit. Only the driving errors above can be summarized. The drill is very light and the mass is not so large even if the chuck unit is included. For this reason, it is possible to perform a thinning process having a quality equivalent to or sufficiently higher than that of a skilled worker with the current drive resolution of the XY stage unit.
The stage unit may be further configured to be able to move and position the chuck unit also in the Z-axis direction, which is a direction perpendicular to both the X-axis direction and the Y-axis direction.
As a result, it is possible to deal with grindstones having different diameters, and the degree of freedom of thinning can be expanded three-dimensionally.
Furthermore, the positioning unit may be configured to include a first camera unit for observing the tip of the drill at the predetermined position from the Y-axis direction.
As a result, the shape of the drill tip can be observed from the axial direction of the drill, and not only positioning before thinning formation but also confirmation after thinning formation, especially thinning applied to two or more locations on one drill is rotated. It is also possible to accurately check whether or not it is formed so as to be symmetrical.
The positioning unit may further include a second camera unit that can observe the predetermined position from the X-axis direction or the Z-axis direction.
Thereby, the coordinate of the Y-axis direction of a drill can be determined using the image | video image | photographed with the said camera.
Further, the processing position may be a position where an angle formed by a line connecting the processing position and the rotation center of the grindstone and a line parallel to the Y axis passing through the rotation center of the grindstone is 40 ° ± 10 °. Good.
Thereby, it is possible to form an appropriate thinning surface.
Further, in the thinning state of the drill, the chuck unit is rotated along a curved surface centered on a predetermined position so that the thinning portion of the drill swings with respect to the cutting surface of the grindstone. You may provide the rotation mechanism to be made.
Thereby, it becomes possible to improve the surface roughness of the thinning surface (thinning process part).
By applying the present invention, it is possible to perform an accurate thinning process, and in particular, in a fine diameter drill, a thinning process can be performed without requiring a special technique without requiring a skill of a skilled worker, Mass production of drills capable of micro deep hole machining.
Hereinafter, an example of an embodiment according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

In the
Below the

The

<Thinning formation procedure>
Next, a procedure for forming a thinning using the thinning
First, the power of each part of the thinning
Next, the
Next, various data for forming the thinning, for example, information on the width, depth and shape of the thinning to be formed, and the diameter of the drill are input in advance (S3). Note that when the type of drill, the shape of the thinning, etc. are always constant, this step can be omitted by storing the data in the apparatus in advance. In addition, it is not an indispensable component of this invention that the said thinning
Next, the
Next, the
Next, it is confirmed whether or not it is correctly located at the origin (S6). If it is not at the origin, the process returns to step S5 to readjust, and if it is at the origin, the process proceeds to step S7.
Next, it adjusts so that the rotation attitude | position of the
Next, it is determined whether or not the posture is appropriate (S8). If the posture is not appropriate, the process returns to step S7 to readjust, and if the posture is appropriate, the process proceeds to step S9. Specific methods of these steps S5 to S8 will be described later separately.
Next, the
Next, a thinning process is performed (S10). The processing is realized by driving and controlling the stage unit 30 based on the data input in step S3 and the origin data. As shown in FIG. 7, this processing is performed by an angle formed by a line L1 connecting the processing position of the
Subsequently, rocking is performed (S11). Specifically, the thinning process of the
Next, the
Next, the thinning state is confirmed by the image projected on the
At this time, it is determined whether or not the thinning state is good (S14). When the thinning state is good, that is, when the thinning process of the part is completed, the process proceeds to step S18, and the thinning state is good. If not, i.e., if the thinning process has not yet been completed, the process proceeds to step S15.
(S16)。 If the process proceeds to step S15, it is determined whether or not there is room for further rework. At this time, if the amount of cutting at the time of thinning formation is excessive or defective, the machining of the drill is stopped (S16).
(S17)。 On the other hand, if there is room for rework, the process returns to step S5 (or step S9), and thinning is reworked (S17).
Next, when the state of the thinning performed is good, it is determined whether two thinning processes have been performed on the drill 3 (S18). If the two-point thinning has already been performed, the process proceeds to step S19, and the thinning for the drill ends.
On the other hand, if the thinning has not been completed in two places, the process proceeds to step S20.
Next, the drill is rotated 180 ° (S20). Specifically, the adjustment is performed by loosening the chuck
(S21)。 Next, the process returns to step S5 (or step S9), and the second thinning process is performed (S21).
Thus, in the thinning formation in the apparatus, the heavy grindstone unit is fixed and does not move. As a result, the position variation element of the grindstone can be removed, and the positional accuracy during processing is improved. In addition, since thinning is performed by driving the stage unit from the origin, it is always possible to easily form thinning of the same quality without being a skilled worker.
<Origin positioning using positioning unit 40>
Next, positioning to the origin using the positioning unit 40 will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 8 is a diagram showing the relationship between the tip of the
As shown in FIG. 8, the alignment of the
A semicircular groove 41A is formed on the surface of the
Thus, the function of the positioning unit 40 allows the
On the other hand, the coordinate of the origin in the Y-axis direction is determined using an image of a second camera unit (not shown) that can shoot the
<Oscillating (turning) operation and action>
The swinging (turning) operation and its action in step S11 will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 11 is a view showing the turning center of the
The rotation
With this configuration, when the
The effect | action that this surface roughness improves is demonstrated using FIG. Since the abrasive surface of the grindstone is composed of densely packed abrasive grains, when it is simply cut with a rotating grindstone (when it does not rock), the diameter of the abrasive grains is approximately along the rotation direction of the grindstone. A certain degree of unevenness (processed edge) occurs. This arises from the limitation of the physical size of the abrasive grains and cannot be solved except by changing the diameter of the abrasive grains to a finer one. However, the size of the machining edge is reduced by moving the grindstone and the cutting member (drill) relative to each other in a direction substantially perpendicular to the rotation direction of the rotating grindstone by swinging while the grindstone is rotated. In addition, in FIG. 13, for the sake of convenience of explanation, it is shown as a view in which the grindstone side swings. Specifically, when the average height roughness of the thinning surface (processed surface) is Ra and the maximum height roughness is Rz, Ra = 0.0164 μm, Rz = What was 0.0914 μm is Ra = 0.115 μm and Rz = 0.0459 μm under the same conditions when rocking is performed (the numerical values are measured twice by a non-contact three-dimensional measuring machine). Average value of measurement). That is, it is possible to improve the surface roughness of the thinning surface by swinging the thinning surface of the drill with respect to the cutting surface of the rotating grindstone.
Further, by swinging, there is an effect of removing burrs (thinning edge burrs) that may be caused by thinning formation.
By improving the surface roughness and removing burrs, the temperature rise at the drilling point is further suppressed compared to drills that are simply thinned (without rocking), and chip discharge is improved. Welding can be prevented. As a result, it is possible to manufacture a drill having excellent durability.
In this embodiment, the rotation mechanism for swinging is provided on the
Further, in this specification, it is described as an apparatus that forms only thinning, but the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the apparatus may be incorporated in a drill manufacturing apparatus that manufactures a drill itself. .
Further, in the description of the embodiment, the description is made on the assumption that the drill is a fine diameter, but the thinning apparatus and the thinning forming method according to the present invention are not limited to the fine diameter drill, and the diameter is larger. Even when applied to a drill having a diameter, it is useful because it can improve the accuracy of thinning formation.
The fine-diameter drill thinned using the thinning apparatus according to the present invention includes, for example, drilling for fuel injection nozzles for diesel engines including high-density printed circuit boards, drilling for chemical fiber spinning nozzles, and treatment for solder balls of megachips.
