Description
本発明の発光素子は、一対の電極間に複数の層を有する。当該複数の層は、電極から離れたところに発光領域が形成されるように、つまり電極から離れた部位でキャリア(担体)の再結合が行われるように、キャリア注入性の高い物質やキャリア輸送性の高い物質からなる層を組み合わせて積層されたものである。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1に示した構成とは異なる構成の発光素子について説明する。なお、本明細書中において、複合とは、単に2つ以上の材料を混合させるだけでなく、分子レベルで混合し、これによって材料間での電荷の授受が行われ得る状態になることを言う。
本実施の形態では、本発明の発光素子を有する発光装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態3に示す発光装置をその一部に含む本発明の電子機器について説明する。本発明の電子機器は、実施の形態1または実施の形態2に示した発光素子を有し、低消費電力の表示部を有する。また、実施の形態2で示した複合材料を含む層を厚膜化することにより、微小な異物や外部からの衝撃等による短絡が抑制された信頼性の高い表示部を有する電子機器を提供することも可能である。
電子輸送層2106を、Alqを用いて30nmの膜厚となるように形成し、他は実施例1と同様の構成とし、比較例1の発光素子を作製した。比較例1の発光素子についても、封止を行い、85℃の恒温槽で焼成を行った後、測定に用いた。

Claims (18)
- 第1の電極と第2の電極との間に、
発光性の物質を含む発光層と、
バソフェナントロリンを含む層を有し、
前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層は前記発光層の第2の電極側に設けられ、
前記第1の電極の電位の方が前記第2の電極の電位よりも高くなるように電圧を印加したときに前記発光性の物質が発光し、
前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層にはアルカリ金属又はアルカリ土類金属はドープされていないことを特徴とする発光素子。 - 第1の電極と第2の電極との間に、
発光性の物質を含む発光層と、
バソフェナントロリンを含む層を有し、
前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層は前記発光層の第2の電極側に設けられ、
前記第1の電極の電位の方が前記第2の電極の電位よりも高くなるように電圧を印加したときに前記発光性の物質が発光し、
前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層と前記第2の電極との間に、フッ化リチウム、フッ化セシウム、フッ化カルシウムのいずれか一または複数を含む層を設けることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 一対の電極間に、
有機化合物と無機化合物とを複合した複合材料を含む層と、
発光性の物質を含む発光層と、
バソフェナントロリンを含む層を有することを特徴とする発光素子。 - 第1の電極と第2の電極との間に、
有機化合物と無機化合物とを複合した複合材料を含む層と、
発光性の物質を含む発光層と、
バソフェナントロリンを含む層を有し、
前記複合材料を含む層は第1の電極と接するように設けられ、
前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層は前記発光層の第2の電極側に設けられ、
前記第1の電極の電位の方が前記第2の電極の電位よりも高くなるように電圧を印加したときに前記発光性の物質が発光することを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項4において、前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層と前記第2の電極との間に、アルカリ金属の化合物又はアルカリ土類金属の化合物を含む層を設けることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項5において、前記アルカリ金属の化合物又はアルカリ土類金属の化合物を含む層は、フッ化リチウム、フッ化セシウム、フッ化カルシウムのいずれか一または複数を含む層であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項3乃至請求項6のいずれか一項において、前記有機化合物は、芳香族アミン化合物であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項3乃至請求項6のいずれか一項において、前記有機化合物は、カルバゾール誘導体であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項3乃至請求項6のいずれか一項において、前記有機化合物は、芳香族炭化水素であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項3乃至請求項9のいずれか一項において、前記無機化合物は、前記有機化合物に対して電子受容性を示すことを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項3乃至請求項9のいずれか一項において、前記無機化合物は、遷移金属酸化物であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項3乃至請求項9のいずれか一項において、前記無機化合物は、元素周期表における第4乃至第8族に属する金属の酸化物であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項4乃至請求項10のいずれか一項において、前記無機化合物は、酸化バナジウム、酸化ニオブ、酸化タンタル、酸化クロム、酸化モリブデン、酸化タングステン、酸化マンガン、酸化レニウムのいずれかであることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項3乃至請求項13のいずれか一項において、前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層にはアルカリ金属又はアルカリ土類金属はドープされていないことを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至請求項14のいずれか一項において、前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層は、10nm以上100nm以下の膜厚であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至請求項14のいずれか一項において、前記バソフェナントロリンを含む層は、30nm以上60nm以下の膜厚であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至請求項16のいずれか一項に記載の発光素子と、前記発光素子の発光を制御する制御手段とを有する発光装置。
- 表示部を有し、
前記表示部は、請求項1乃至請求項16のいずれか一項に記載の発光素子と前記発光素子の発光を制御する制御手段とを備えたことを特徴とする電子機器。
