Claims (8)

  1. スタック型スィッチング・システムを形成する複数のスイッチを制御する方法であって、
    それぞれがマスタスイッチとして動作するように構成された前記スイッチのそれぞれに、優先順位インデックスを設けるステップと、
    前記複数のスイッチをネットワーク・バックプレーンに接続するステップと、
    前記複数のスイッチの優先順位インデックス値を比較した後、すべての前記スイッチの中で最高値の優先順位インデックス値を有する１つの前記スイッチにマスタ制御を割り当てるステップであって、残りのスイッチはスレーブスイッチとして動作させるステップと、を備え、
    前記マスタスイッチは前記スタック型スィッチング・システムを管理し、ＳＮＭＰマネージャと通信し、
    新しいスイッチが前記ネットワーク・バックプレーンに接続された後、前記割り当てるステップが実行され、前記新しいスイッチが現状のマスタスイッチの優先順位インデックス値より高い優先順位インデックス値を有する時に、前記マスタ制御を前記新しいスイッチに再割り当てし、前記現状のマスタスイッチはスレーブスイッチとして再割り当てされる方法。
  2. 前記マスタスイッチから前記スレーブスイッチへファームウェアをダウンロードするステップをさらに備える請求項１記載の方法。
  3. トポロジ・テーブルを前記スレーブスイッチにダウンロードするステップをさらに備える請求項１記載の方法。
  4. 機器構成データを前記マスタスイッチ内で規定するステップをさらに備える請求項１記載の方法。
  5. 前記機器構成データを前記スレーブスイッチにダウンロードするステップをさらに備える請求項４記載の方法。
  6. 割り当ては、スタックスイッチのトポロジ変更の後に実行される請求項１記載の方法。
  7. 前記マスタ制御を有するスイッチが前記ネットワーク・バックプレーンから外された時に、次に高い優先順位インデックス値を有するスイッチに前記マスタ制御が割当てられる請求項１から６のいずれか１項に記載の方法。
  8. スタック型スィッチング・システムであって、
    ネットワーク・バックプレーンと、
    前記バックプレーンに接続された複数のスイッチであって、前記スイッチのそれぞれに優先順位インデックスが設けられ、各スイッチはマスタスイッチとして動作するように構成された複数のスイッチと、を備え、
    前記マスタスイッチは前記スタック型スィッチング・システムを管理し、ＳＮＭＰマネージャと通信し、
    当該システムは、前記複数のスイッチの優先順位インデックス値を比較した後、すべての前記スイッチの中で最高値の優先順位インデックス値を有する１つの前記スイッチにマスタ制御を割り当て、残りのスイッチはスレーブスイッチとして動作させように構成され、
    当該システムは、新しいスイッチが前記ネットワーク・バックプレーンに接続された後、前記割り当てが実行され、前記新しいスイッチが現状のマスタスイッチの優先順位インデックス値より高い優先順位インデックス値を有する時に、前記マスタ制御を前記新しいスイッチに再割り当てし、前記現状のマスタスイッチはスレーブスイッチとして再割り当てするように構成されたシステム。
