Abstract
Description
本発明は、患者内の或る場所に作用物質を送出する埋め込み可能な医療装置及び方法に関し、より詳細には、当該埋め込み可能な医療装置からの作用物質送出の選択的な調節に関する。
本出願は、2003年3月23日に出願された「Medical Device and Method for In Situ Selective Modulation of Agent Deivery」と題する米国仮特許出願第60/458,906号に対する、米国特許法第119条の下で優先権を主張する。
埋め込み可能な医療装置は、薬剤等の有益な作用物質を体内の器官又は組織に、長期間に渡って制御された送出速度で送出するのに用いられることが多い。これらの装置は、多種多様な身体の系に作用物質を送出して、多種多様な治療を行うことができる。
本発明は、埋め込み可能な医療装置、当該装置を用いるシステム、及び当該装置を用いる方法を提供する。
本発明の装置は、ステントと、ステント内又はステント上の薬剤送出材料とを備え、ステントの或る領域から送出される薬剤の量を、ステントの別の領域から送出される量に対して調節することができるようになっており、この差分調節(differential modulation)は、哺乳動物にステントを配置した後で指定される。

- 埋め込み可能な医療装置であって、
患者内の埋め込み部位に送出されるように配置される有益な作用物質を含む装置本体を備え、
前記有益な作用物質は、前記患者内への埋め込み後に、活性化/不活性化手段により選択的に調節されるように構成され、
前記装置本体の第1の領域にある前記有益な作用物質は、前記装置本体の第2の領域にある前記有益な作用物質とは異なる送出プロファイルをもたらすように、前記活性化/不活性化手段により調節することができる埋め込み可能な医療装置。 - 前記有益な作用物質は、前記患者内への埋め込み後に、エネルギー放出カテーテルの形態の前記活性化/不活性化手段により調節されるように構成される請求項1に記載の埋め込み可能な医療装置。
