Abstract
Description
1.発明の分野
本発明は耐弾道性で耐火性の複合物品、更に詳しくは航空機室内装飾並びに他の用途のための耐弾道性で耐火性の複合物品に関する。
2.関連先行技術の説明
航空機室内装飾に用いられる材料は連邦規則法律集第14編第25部により規制されている。最近までは、このような材料に関する主な関心は難燃性であった。しかし2001年9月1日の自殺テロリスト等による航空機ハイジャックの結果として他の種類の脅威に対する保護の関心が高まってきた。それらの関心事のうちの主なものは小火器に対するパイッロトおよび操縦室の安全性である。ピストルの弾薬に対して耐貫通性でしかも耐火性の現基準を維持する操縦室扉用軽量材料が必要とされている。
性セルロース系シート状材料を含む発泡性防炎層を含む可燃性または感熱性基材への用途に適した難燃性積層板システムを記載している。該軟質保護層は金属箔であってもよい。
合衆国特許第4,822,439及び4,929,651号は水酸化カルシウム及びイソフタール酸熱硬化性ポリエステルを含浸したアルミノケイ酸マグネシアガラス繊維ロービング織布を約60%乃至約75%含む複合物を記載している。
本発明は強度、靭性、弾丸耐性、耐火性及び有用な密度をこれまでに知られていなかった組み合わせで発現す複合物品を提供する。本発明の複合物品は少なくとも約80,000 lb/ft2 (552 MPa) の曲げ弾性率、少なくとも約800 lb/ft2(5.52 MPa) の曲げ降伏強さ、少なくとも約0.9 lb/ft2 (4.40 kg/m2) 乃至約1.5 lb/ft2 (5.86 kg/m2) の面密度、2002年1月1日付けの合衆国法律集第14編第25.853節の要件を満たす耐火性及び240 gr (グレン) (15.6 g) 質量の.44マグナム被覆中空先端(JHP)弾丸及び124 gr (8.0 g) 質量の9 mm金属全被覆丸形先端(FMJRN)弾丸を用いる2002年1月10日付けの合衆国連邦航空局助言回状第25.795.2号による試験で少なくとも約1,430 ft/sec (427 m/s) のV0速度を有する。

合衆国法律集第14編第25.853節は航空機区画室内装飾用の易燃焼性基準を定める。内部隔壁用材料は付録F、第I、IV及び V部に規定する試験要件を満たなければならない。
試験パネルを完全及び部分貫通させるように発射剤の充填量を変えて測定する。該V0速度は最高部分貫通速度である。本発明の複合物は240 gr (15.6 g) 質量の.44マグナムJHP弾丸及び124 gr (8.0 g) 質量の9 mm FMJRN 弾丸を用いて試験するとき、V0が少なくとも約1,430 ft/sec (427 m/s) である。
もし該難燃剤を使用するのであれば、それは有機、無機或いは有機金属であってもよい。好ましい難燃剤の例としては、“高分子材料の難燃性 (Flame Retardancy of Polymeric Materials)”、Kuryla及び Papa編集、Marcel Dekker, Inc.、ニューヨーク、 第1巻、第1頁乃至第111頁、1973年に列挙されている添加剤が挙げられるがそれらに限定されない。
比較例1
次の対称プライ構成を有する9プライ複合物品を作製した。
第1及び第9プライ:厚さ0.001 in(0.0254 mm)の302型ステンレス鋼箔;
第2及び第8プライ:発泡性防炎樹脂配合物;
第3及び第7プライ:フェノール樹脂含浸ガラス繊維;
第4及び第6プライ:難燃性感圧フィルム接着材;そして
第5プライ:50層のエポキシビニルエステルマトリックス中の一方向ポリエチレン繊維
の網状組織
該第2及び第8プライを構成する該発泡性防炎樹脂配合物は次のようにして作製したシート状材料であった。すなわち、60.9重量%の2液型ホルムアルデヒド−フルフラール−レゾルシノール−フェノール単量体 (Borden Durite FIRE PRF2-1000; Part A-100 pph、
Part B-24 pph)、9.1重量%のメラミンピロフォスフェート (C3H6N6・H4P2O7) 及びビス(メラミンピロフォスフォリック)アシッド (C6H12N12・H4P4O7) [Broadview Technologies、MAXICHAR (登録商標)] を含む発泡性防炎添加剤及び30重量%のガラスバブル (3M Type K1) からなる混合物を作製した。該混合物をシリコーン剥離紙上に厚さ0.020 in (0.51 mm) に平らに拡げ、その上に別の剥離紙を載せた。該混合物をプレスで約200oF (93℃) で約1 psi (7 kPa) の微圧下約30分間加熱して硬化させ固体状のシートにした。該シートの端部を整え、そのシートを等分して複合物の第2及び第8プライを形成した。
合衆国法律集第14編第25.853節、付録F、第IV部に従って行った該複合品の試験は平均最大熱放出率が65 kW/m2未満であるとする要件に比べて11 kW/m2の最大熱放出率を示した。しかし該パネルは1.84 lb/ft2 (8.99 kg/m2) の面密度を有しており、これは過剰であると考えられた。
比較例2
第2及び第8プライ以外は比較例1と同一の対称プライ構成を有する9プライ複合物品を作製した。第2及び第8プライに含まれる発泡性防炎樹脂配合物は次のようにして作製したシート状材料であった。
複合物品のこれらのプライを組み立て、100 psi (690 kPa) の圧力下、温度121℃で30分間プレスで一まとめに接合した。
実施例1
次の対称プライ構成を有する7プライ複合物品を作製した。
第1及び第7プライ:厚さ0.003 in (0.076 mm) のアルミ箔;
第2及び第6プライ:発泡性防炎樹脂配合物;
第3及び第5プライ:難燃性感圧フィルム接着材;そして
第4プライ:50層のエポキシビニルエステルマトリックス中の一方向ポリエチレン繊維
の網状組織
第2及び第6プライを構成する発泡性防炎樹脂配合物は次のようにして作製した。95.3重量%の2液型の発泡性防炎性エポキシ樹脂 [INTUMAX(登録商標)EP1115、Broadview Technologies、Inc.] 及び4.7重量%のガラスバブル(3M Type K1)を含む混合物を作製した。該混合物をシリコーン剥離紙上に厚さ0.016 in (0.41 mm) に平らに拡げ、その上に別の剥離紙を載せた。該混合物をプレスで約200oF (93℃) で約1 psi (7 kPa) の微圧下約30分間加熱して硬化させ固体状のシートにした。該シートの端部を整え、そのシートを等分して複合物の第2及び第6プライを形成した。
本発明のこの複合物品は1.22 lb/ft2 (5.96 kg/m2) の面密度を有しており、許容されうるものと考えられた。この複合物を2002年1月1日付けの合衆国法律集第14篇第 25.853節、付録F及び240 gr (15.6 g)質量の .44マグナムJHP弾丸及び 124 gr (8.0 g) 質量の 9 mm FMJRN弾丸を用いる 2002年 1 月10日付けの合衆国連邦航空局助言回状第 25.795.2号による試験に付した。
実施例2
実施例1の複合物品と同一の構造を有する7プライ複合物品を同様にして作製した。この複合物品は1.19lb/ft2 (5.82 kg/m2) の面密度を有しており、この面密度は許容されうるものと考えられた。表1の試験結果は実施例2の複合物品が全てのFAA要件を満たしていたことを示している。
実施例3
次の対称プライ構成を有する7プライ複合物品を作製した。
第1及び第7プライ:厚さ0.003 in (0.076 mm) のアルミ箔;
第2及び第6プライ:発泡性防炎樹脂配合物;
第3及び第5プライ:難燃性感圧フィルム接着材;そして
第4プライ:50層の熱可塑性エラストマー系マトリックス [Honeywell International
Inc. から入手したSPECTRA SHIELD (登録商標) PCR PLUS] 中の一方向
ポリエチレン繊維の網状組織
第2及び第6プライを構成する発泡性防炎樹脂配合物は以下のようにして作製した。すなわち、74.2重量%の2液型ホムアルデヒド−フルフラール−レゾルシノール−フェノール単量体 (Borden Durite FIRE PRF2-1000; Part A-100pph、Part B-24 pph)、12.9重量%のメラミンピロフォスフェート (C3H6N6・H4P2O7) 及びビス(メラミンピロフォスフォリック)アシッド(C6H12N12・H4P4O7) (Broadview Technologies、MAXICHAR(登録商標))を含む発泡性防炎性添加物及び12.9重量%のガラスバブル (3M Type K1) からなる混合物を作製した。該混合物をシリコーン剥離紙上に厚さ0.016 in (0.41 mm) に平らに拡げ、その上に別の剥離紙を載せた。該混合物をプレスで約200oF (93℃)で約1 psi(7 kPa)の微圧下30分間加熱して硬化させ固体状のシートにした。該シートの端部を整え、そのシートを等分して複合物の第2及び第6プライを形成した。

第2及び第4プライ:難燃性感圧フィルム接着材 [BOSTIK14 (登録商標) 14-576-3];そして
第3プライ:50層の熱可塑性エラストマー系マトリックス [Honeywell International
Inc. から入手したSPECTRA SHIELD (登録商標) PCR PLUS] 中の一方向
ポリエチレン繊維の網状組織
複合物品のこれらのプライを組み立て、100 psi (690 kPa) の圧力下、温度121℃で30分間プレスで一まとめに接合した。
実施例5
中央第3プライ以外は実施例4と同一の対称プライ構成を有する5プライ複合物品を作製した。この実施例において、中央プライは50層の高強度ポリエチレン繊維からなり、該ポリエチレン繊維はひとつの層において一方向に揃えられ、隣接層の繊維は互いに90度配向させて配置されていた。該ポリエチレン繊維は1,100 dであり、約 3.1 GPaの引張強さ、約107 GPaの初期引張弾性率、約3.3%の破断伸度および他の糸の物理的性質を有しており、約500 kpsi (3.5 GPa) の引張弾性率を有するエポキシビニルエステル [Honeywell International Inc. から入手したSPECTRA SHIELD (登録商標) VE PLUS] を含むマトリックス中にあった。
実施例5の複合物品もまた1.0 lb/ft2 (4.89 kg/m2) の面密度を有しており、許容されうるものと考えられた。表1の試験結果は実施例5の複合物品が全てのFAA要件を満たしていたことを示している。
Claims (17)
- 少なくとも約80,000 lb/in2 (552 MPa) の曲げ弾性率、少なくとも約800 lb/in2(5.52 MPa) の曲げ降伏強さ、約0.9 lb/ft2 (4.40 kg/m2) 乃至約1.5 lb/ft2(5.86 kg/m2)の面密度、2002年1月1日付けの合衆国法律集第14編第25.853節の要件を満たす耐火性及び240 gr (15.6 g) 質量の.44マグナム被覆中空先端 (JHP) 弾丸および124 gr (8.0 g) 質量の9 mm金属完全被覆丸形先端 (FMJRN) 弾丸を用いる2002年1月10日付けの合衆国連邦航空局助言回状第25.795.2号による試験で少なくとも約1,430 ft/sec (427 m/s) のV0速度を有する複合物品。
- 複数の一まとめに接合されたプライを含む複合物品であって、第1のプライは金属箔を含み、第2のプライは難燃性結合材料を含み、そして第3のプライは複数の層を含み、前記層の各々はマトリックス中の易燃性重合体繊維の網状組織を含み、前記重合体繊維は少なくとも約17 g/dの強力、少なくとも約500 g/dの引張弾性率及び少なくとも約20 J/gの破壊エネルギーを有する複合物品。
- 難燃性結合材料を含む第4プライと金属箔を含む第5プライとを更に含む、請求項2の複合物品。
- 前記第1プライと第2プライとの間に発泡性防炎樹脂配合物を更に含む、請求項2の複合物品。
- 発泡性防炎樹脂配合物からなる第5プライ、難燃性結合材料を含む第6プライ及び金属箔を含む第7プライを更に含む、請求項4の複合物品。
- 前記金属箔が約0.0005 in (12.7 μm)乃至約0.005 in (127μm) の厚さを有するアルミである、請求項2また請求項4の複合物品。
- 前記難燃性結合材料が、ポリオレフィン類、ポリジエン類、ポリエステル類、ポリアミド類、ビニル重合体類、イオノマー類、アクリル樹脂類、アクリル酸樹脂類、ポリスルホン類、ポリフェニレンオキシド類、アセタール類、シリコーン類、熱可塑性ポリウレタン類、熱可塑性ポリイミド類、ポリケトン類、フェノール重合体類、メラミン重合体類、エポキシ類、シリコーン類、不飽和ポリエステル類、熱硬化性ポリウレタン類、これらの共重合体類及びハロゲン化誘導体類から選ばれた高分子結合剤及び“高分子材料の難燃性 (Flame Retardancy of Polymeric Materials)”、Kuryla及び Papa編集、Marcel Dekker、Inc.、ニューヨーク、 第1巻、第1頁乃至第111頁、1973年に列挙されている難燃剤類の群の少なくとも一種を含む、請求項2また請求項4の複合物品。
- 前記難燃性結合材料が、ポリアクリル酸樹脂結合剤中の酸化アンチモン (Sb2O3)、 デカブロモジフェニルエーテル及びポリ塩素化パラフィンワックスのブレンドである、請求項2また請求項4の複合物品。
- 前記易燃性重合体繊維がポリエチレンである、請求項2また請求項4の複合物品。
- 前記ポリエチレン繊維が、ひとつの層内で一方向に配向されており、そして隣接する層内の繊維は互いに約90度で配向されている、請求項9の複合物品。
- 前記マトリックスが約6,000 psi (41.4 MPa) 未満のASTM D638により測定された初期引張弾性率を有するエラストマーである、請求項2また請求項4の複合物品。
- 前記マトリックスが共役ジエンとビニル芳香族単量体とのブロック共重合体を含むエラストマーである、請求項11の複合物品。
- 前記マトリックスが少なくとも約300 kpsi (2.1 GPa) の引張弾性率を有する熱硬化性樹脂である、請求項2または請求項4の複合物品。
- 前記マトリックスがエポキシビニルエステル樹脂である、請求項13の複合物品。
- 前記発泡性防炎樹脂配合物が、フェノール重合体類、メラミン重合体類、エポキシ類、シリコーン類、不飽和ポリエステル類及び熱硬化性ポリウレタン類からなる群より選ばれた樹脂中に分散されたメラミン、メラミン塩類、メラミン誘導体類、尿素、ジシアンジアミド及びグアニジンからなる群より選ばれた泡形成剤を含む、請求項3の複合物品。
- 前記発泡性防炎樹脂配合物が、メラミンピロフォスフェート (C3H6N6・H4P2O7) 及びビス(メラミンピロフォスフォリック)アシッド (C6H12N12・H4P4O7) からなる群より選ばれた少なくとも一種及びホルムアルデヒド−フルフラール−レゾルシノール−フェノール樹脂及びエポキシ樹脂からなる群より選ばれた一種を含む、請求項4の複合物品。
- 前記発泡性防炎樹脂配合物が更に約2乃至約35重量%のガラスバブルを含む、請求項12の複合物品。
