Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a projector that performs focus adjustment of a projected image using a focus adjustment test pattern.
In the field of presentation or video projection, a projector that projects an image based on image data input from a personal computer or a video playback device onto a projection target such as an external screen is used. Such a projector generates modulated light representing an image based on image data by giving image data to a projection device such as a liquid crystal panel or DMD (Digital Micromirror Device), and the generated modulated light is used as an internal light source. It is the structure which projects on to-be-projected bodies, such as an external screen, with the light from. In addition, such a projector may project a color image by projecting an image in which R (red), G (green), and B (blue) colors are combined, or by projecting RGB images in a time division manner. it can.
In general, the relative position between the projection object and the projector is not fixed, except when the projection object such as a screen and the projector are both fixed as in a theater. For this reason, it is necessary for the projector to adjust the projection range, projection shape, focal length, and color of the image so that an appropriate image is projected onto the screen. A conventional technique for adjusting a projector is disclosed in Patent Document 1, for example.
In the invention disclosed in Patent Document 1, various adjustments as described above are performed using a test pattern for focus adjustment in which a plurality of straight lines are arranged in parallel in the vertical direction as shown in a schematic diagram of FIG. The focal length is adjusted. In the invention described in Patent Document 1, the projector projects a test pattern for focus adjustment as shown in FIG. 9 and picks up an image with an image pickup device. From the picked-up image data, a portion having a high peak value of the horizontal amplitude, Alternatively, the best focus position is obtained by detecting the presence or absence of a high-order frequency component by Fourier series expansion.
By the way, when projecting an image onto a projection object such as a screen by a projector, it goes without saying that it is desirable to focus on the center of the projection object most noticed. However, the focus adjustment test pattern used in the invention disclosed in Patent Document 1 is set over the entire range of the image to be originally projected. When adjusting the focus using a test pattern, focus on one location near the center of the image captured by the imaging device, or optimize the average focus on the entire screen including the periphery. It is said that it can also be done. However, when focusing is performed on one position near the center of the image captured by the imaging device, the center of the image captured by the imaging device and the center of the image of the projection target do not coincide with each other. Can't focus on the center of
On the other hand, when the test pattern for focus adjustment is set only in the center of the range of the image to be originally projected, as shown in the schematic view of FIG. The center of the focus adjustment test pattern FP in the projection image PJ of the test pattern projected onto the screen S does not coincide with the center of the screen S, and the focus adjustment test pattern FP is not projected onto the center portion of the screen S. Can occur. In such a case, the focus adjustment test pattern FP can be obtained by manually moving the installation position of the projector itself or changing the installation orientation of the projector (changing the tilt in the front-rear direction or the left-right direction of the projector). Of course, it is possible to adjust the projection so that it is projected onto the center of the screen S as much as possible. However, when the user does not want to change the installation position and / or orientation of the projector, or when it is impossible for some reason, the focus adjustment test pattern FP is displayed at the center of the screen S. The focus adjustment is unavoidable regardless of whether it is automatic or manual operation by the user.
Therefore, in the case of the conventional projector, there is a high possibility that the focus is high on a portion other than the center of the projection target such as a screen that is considered to be focused. For this reason, conventionally, when an image is actually projected, there is a possibility that the center portion of the screen that is most noticed is in a so-called defocused state.
The present invention has been made in view of the circumstances as described above, and its main purpose is to project a focus adjustment test pattern onto the center of a projection object such as a screen. An object of the present invention is to provide a projector capable of performing focus adjustment based on a focus adjustment test pattern projected on the center of the projection body, in other words, focusing on the center of the projection body such as a screen.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a projector capable of automatically projecting a focus adjustment test pattern onto a central portion of a projection target.
A projector according to the present invention includes a spatial light modulation unit that generates modulated light representing a rectangular image, a projection unit that projects the modulated light modulated by the spatial light modulation unit onto a projection target, and a test pattern for focus adjustment. A test pattern image generating means for generating a test pattern image including the spatial light modulation means for spatial light modulation, and an imaging means for imaging a projection state of the image projected by the projection means, and projecting the test pattern image In the projector that adjusts the focus of the projection image based on the image captured by the imaging unit, the state is determined from the relative positional relationship between the test pattern image and the image of the projection object on the image captured by the imaging unit. Calculation means for obtaining a position on the image generated by the spatial light modulation means corresponding to the center of the image of the projection object on the image picked up by the image pickup means , Characterized in that a control means for matching the center of the focus adjusting test pattern at a position on the image in which the spatial light modulator for said calculating means is calculated to produce.
In such a projector according to the present invention, first, based on the relative positional relationship between the test pattern image on the image captured by the imaging unit and the image of the projection target, the projection of the projection target on the image captured by the imaging unit. A position on the image generated by the spatial light modulator corresponding to the center of the image is obtained. Then, the center of the focus adjustment test pattern is displayed so as to coincide with the position on the image generated by the spatial light modulation means thus obtained.
In the projector according to the aspect of the invention described above, the calculation unit obtains positions of the four corners of the test pattern image and the image of the projection object on the image captured by the imaging unit, and determines the obtained test pattern. Based on the correspondence between the four corner positions of the image and the four corners of the image generated by the spatial light modulation means, the spatial light modulation is performed on the four corner positions of the image of the projection object on the image captured by the imaging means. The position on the image generated by the spatial light modulation unit corresponding to the center position of the image of the projection object on the image captured by the imaging unit is made to correspond to the position on the image generated by the unit. It is characterized by being requested.
In the projector according to the present invention, in the above-described invention, first, the positions of the four corners of the test pattern image and the image of the projection object on the image captured by the imaging unit are obtained. Based on the correspondence between the four corner positions of the test pattern image thus obtained and the four corner positions of the image generated by the spatial light modulation means, the image of the projection object on the image captured by the imaging means Are made to correspond to the positions on the image generated by the spatial light modulation means, so that the spatial light modulation means corresponding to the center position of the image of the projection object on the image captured by the imaging means is generated. The position on the image is determined.
The projector according to the present invention includes a spatial light modulation unit that generates modulated light representing a rectangular image, a projection unit that projects the modulated light modulated by the spatial light modulation unit onto a projection target, and a focus adjustment test pattern. And a test pattern image generating means for generating modulated light representing the test pattern image by modulating the test pattern image including A movement instruction receiving unit that receives an instruction to move the position of the focus adjustment test pattern on an image generated by the light modulation unit, and an image generated by the spatial light modulation unit according to the instruction received by the movement instruction receiving unit. And a control means for moving the position of the focus adjustment test pattern.
In such a projector according to the present invention, first, an instruction to move the display position of the focus adjustment test pattern on the image generated by the spatial light modulator is received. Then, the display position of the focus adjustment test pattern on the image generated by the spatial light modulator is moved according to the received instruction.
According to the projector according to the present invention as described above, the focus adjustment test pattern is automatically displayed at the center of the projection object such as the screen on which the test pattern image is projected. Since the focus adjustment is performed based on the projected image of the focus adjustment test pattern projected onto the projector, it is possible to project an image that is focused on the center of the projected object most noticeable in the projected image become.
According to the projector of the present invention, in the above-described invention, the positions of the four corners of the test pattern image and the image of the projection object on the image captured by the imaging unit are obtained, and the positions of the four corners of the test pattern image and the spatial light are obtained. The position on the image generated by the spatial light modulator corresponding to the center position of the image of the projection object on the image picked up by the image pickup means based on the correspondence with the four corner positions of the image generated by the modulation means Therefore, the focus adjustment test pattern is automatically projected on the center of the projection target.
Furthermore, according to the projector of the present invention, the projection position of the focus adjustment test pattern is arbitrarily moved in accordance with the input of the movement instruction of the focus adjustment test pattern by the user. Therefore, if the user desires, the focus adjustment test By projecting the pattern onto the center of the projection object such as a screen and manually adjusting the focus, it is possible to project an image focused on the central part of the projection object most noticed.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings showing embodiments thereof. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing an internal configuration example of an embodiment of a projector according to the present invention. The projector 1 according to the present embodiment has an auto adjustment function that can automatically prepare for projection. Specifically, the auto adjustment function projects a test pattern image from the
The projector 1 includes an external connection unit 4 and an
The external connection unit 4 is connected to an external device that outputs an image for projection. The external connection unit 4 inputs a rectangular image output from the external device and transmits the image to the
The
The
FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram showing a coordinate system of a spatial light modulation element made of a liquid crystal panel included in the projection device unit of the projector according to the present invention, and an example of correspondence with a focus adjustment test pattern used by the projector according to the present invention. Is also shown.
As an example in this embodiment, the panel 8a has a horizontal display range of 1024 pixels in the horizontal direction and 768 pixels in the vertical direction, that is, a rectangular display range conforming to the XGA standard, and the coordinate value (0, 0) of the upper left corner. A panel coordinate system in which the horizontal direction is the x axis and the vertical direction is the y axis is set. Therefore, when the coordinate value of the panel coordinate system corresponding to each pixel in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction is sent from the
By the way, as shown in FIG. 2, the focus adjustment test pattern FP used by the projector 1 according to the present invention is a pattern in which a plurality of vertical lines are arranged in parallel in a relatively small range compared to the range of the entire projection image. However, the default setting is arranged at the center of the projected image. The focus adjustment test pattern FP itself is a fixed pattern as a whole, and the relative position and size of the focus adjustment test pattern FP with respect to the entire range of the test pattern image on which the focus adjustment test pattern FP is projected. (For example, the position and size on the panel 8a as shown in FIG. 2, that is, the position and size in the panel coordinate system) are known in advance by the
Although not shown, the
Further, the
The
The
The

Note that the color correction process using the test pattern image for color correction may be performed prior to the focus adjustment process described above or may be performed later. Specifically, a test pattern for color correction is generated by the test pattern
When the focus adjustment and the color correction process are completed as described above, the
When the
The adjustment processing by the
As shown in FIG. 2, in the default state, the focus adjustment test pattern FP is displayed at the center of the panel 8a and projected from the
The projection image PJ on which the focus adjustment test pattern TP is projected is captured with a slight distortion depending on the installation state of the projector 1 and the screen S is captured with a large distortion. Since the focus adjustment test pattern FP is displayed on the panel 8a in the default state shown in FIG. 2, it is projected on the center of the projection image PJ.
From such a camera image 3I, the
As described above, the
Next, the
As shown in the schematic diagram of FIG. 6, the
As a result, as shown in the schematic diagram of FIG. 7, the focus adjustment test pattern FP is projected onto the center portion of the screen S in the actual projection state. The
By the way, in the above-described embodiment, the projector 1 automatically applies the focus adjustment test pattern FP on the screen S based on the projected image PJ on the captured image 3I captured by the
First, the
The
When the user repeatedly operates the up / down / left / right selection keys 20a to 20d as described above, the display position of the focus adjustment test pattern FP on the panel 8a is moved. The projection position moves on the screen S. Accordingly, the user moves the image of the focus adjustment test pattern FP almost to the center of the screen S by operating the up / down / left / right selection keys 20a to 20d, and the user moves the screen S of the focus adjustment test pattern FP in this state. The focus is adjusted manually while checking the focus state of the image projected upward. Then, when the manual focus adjustment is completed, the user operates the
