Claims (10)

  1. 複数の層を備える限定再生式光媒体であって、
    (a)第1基板層(22)と、
    (b)データ層(25)と、
    (c)反射層(24)、
    (d)還元状態と酸化状態を有する色素を含有し、さらに前記色素を酸化状態から還元状態に転換する作用をなす還元剤を酸化形態で含有する反応性層(23;32,33)と、
    (e)第2基板層(21)と
    をこの順で備え、
    還元状態の色素が光媒体の読み取りに用いる波長の光に実質的に透明であり、酸化状態の色素が光媒体の読み取りに用いる波長の光を吸収し、反射層(24)が酸化形態の還元剤による有意な酸化を受けない金属又は金属合金から形成されている、限定再生式光媒体。
  2. 還元状態の色素がロイコメチレンブルーである、請求項1記載の光媒体。
  3. 還元剤が2−エチルヘキサン酸錫(II)である、請求項1又は請求項2記載の光媒体。
  4. 反射金属層が金又は銀から形成されている、請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか1項記載の光媒体。
  5. 第1及び第2基板がポリカーボネートを含む、請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか1項記載の光媒体。
  6. 反応性層が接着剤を含有する、請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか1項記載の光媒体。
  7. 反応性層が、色素を含有する反応性被膜(33)と接着剤層(32)との2つの層を含む、請求項6記載の光媒体。
  8. 反射層を構成する金属又は金属合金の酸化還元電位が、使用した酸化形態の還元剤の酸化還元電位と0.35V以上異なる、請求項1乃至請求項7のいずれか1項記載の光媒体。
  9. 金属又は金属合金から形成された反射層と、還元状態と酸化状態を有する色素を含有し、さらに前記色素を酸化状態から還元状態に転換する作用をなす還元剤を酸化形態で含有する反応性層とを備える限定再生式光媒体の保存寿命を延長する方法であって、
    前記金属又は金属合金を酸化形態の還元剤による有意な酸化を受けない金属及び金属合金から選択する、光媒体の保存寿命を延長する方法。
  10. 金属又は金属合金から形成された反射層を備える限定再生式光媒体を、反射層からの初期反射率が70%以上、好ましくは75%以上となるように製造する工程を含む、限定再生式光媒体の再生時間を長くする方法。
