Abstract
Description
しかしながら、上記特許出願に記載されたタンクでは、封止シートの多層構造物の内側に通常設けられているバリアー層とタンク壁との間に燃料が浸透する流路が依然として存在しており、その流路がHDPEなどの合成樹脂で構成されているため、燃料の不浸透性は最適とはいえない。
好ましくは、前記l/e比は少なくとも8となる。
タンクによっては1個以上の開口部を有するものもあるが、この開口部は、多様な目的のために、例えば、タンクの製造工程においてタンク内に組み込むことができない1種以上の付属品をタンク内に導入することを可能にするために、タンク壁を貫通して円形などの形状に切り取られている。
液体や気体を貯蔵、収容するといった通常の用途にタンクを利用することに先立って、付属品導入後にタンクをできる限り密封することが可能な封止システムを設計して適応させておく必要がある。
本発明によると、シートは多層構造体で形成され、多層構造体の外層がタンクに溶接され、その外層にはタンクの外表面を形成しているプラスチックの組成と親和性のある組成物が含まれている。
上記のバリアー組成物はシートを構成する層中の1層に混入してもよいし、あるいは、実質的にバリアー組成物からなる特別な付加層を構造体に挿入してもよい。実質的にバリアー組成物からなる付加的な層を構造体に挿入する方が好ましい。
変形例として、シートの多層構造体に2種の異なるバリアー層が含まれていてもよい。この変形による推奨例は、2つのタンク壁と同一な完全な構造体の一方を他方に重ねて、タンク壁と同一であるこの2つの構造体を圧縮することによって得られるシートの例である。
もう1つの別の変形例は、シート各層、特にバリアー層以外の層の厚みをシート端部近傍で薄くする型押しを作製することによって得られるものである。この場合の利点は、シートがタンクに溶接された箇所での透過による損失の危険をさらに抑えることである。
本発明のシステムは、タンクに設けられた単純な開口部を封止するのに非常に適している。また、タンクの中に配置された付属品の上に位置する開口部の封止にも適している。
本発明の封止システムの特に好ましい実施形態の1つでは、タンク内部に配置された少なくとも1種の付属品にシートが固定されている。「付属品」という用語は、一般に、液体又は気体が通り抜ける部材、あるいは液体又は気体と接している部材であって、これとは別の2つの部材間を液体及び/又は気体を輸送する機能をはじめとする、タンクがその一部を構成している装置に特有のそれぞれの機能を果たす部材を意味すると解釈される。
・化学的又は物理的組成物を収納する容器で、特に蒸気吸着用キャニスター。
・液体又はガス計量計
・液体又はガス計量計を終点とする電気接続部品
・液体又はガスポンプ
・ある特定の条件下でタンクの封止を調整するための安全弁
・液体を収容するための排水可能な容器
・液体又はガスポンプのモーターに電力供給するための電気接続部品
・特にエンジン用の供給装置を終点とする液体用パイプ
・液体/蒸気分離装置
この実施形態では付属品がシートに固定されているが、これは付属品が機械的手段でシートに連結しているということである。タンクの種類、タンクに収容されている液体及び気体の性質、ならびにタンクの通常の使用の仕方に適合した機械的な手段によって、付属品がシートに固定されている。付属品の保持手段や搬送手段がシートによって付与されてもよい。例えば、付属品が機械的な固定装置でシートに固定されているシートを用いることができる。このような装置としては、例えば、ネジ、ボルト、ナット、クリップシステムなどがある。また、シートと付属品の製造時に、これらを例えば成形などによって一緒に固定したものを使用することも可能である。また、より一層永久的な特性を有する固定手段、例えば接着又は溶接といった手段を利用することも可能である。一般に、溶接によって付属品がシートに固定されていることが好ましい。
様々なタイプの付属品がこの実施形態に該当する。例えば、ロールオーバーバルブ(ROV)、即ち、タンクがひっくり返った場合に自動的に閉まるバルブ、車載型給油時燃料蒸発ガス排出抑止(ORVR)バルブ、即ち、タンクに燃料を供給する際の蒸発ガスの回収装置、および車載型診断(OBD)装置、ならびに液体/気体セパレータについて言及することができる。
また、封止される開口部の周囲状況や、シートが固定される付属品の形状及び大きさに最大限合うように、シートの形成を行うとよい。
オリフィスを介してシートを貫通する気体排出管を含む液体−気体セパレータにシートが固定された場合、良好な結果が得られた。
タンクの壁上の開口部近くに固定ラグを担持したタンクを使用する場合に、ある特定の封止システムとなる。溶接作業中にタンク壁がフレキシブルな変形を受けても、上記のラグによってタンク壁は支えられる。
この方法において使用されるシートは、様々な調達元からのものであってもよい。例えば、タンク本体とは別個に作製したものであってもよく、ことによると別々の時に、タンクを作製する方法とは必ずしも同一ではないある特定の方法を用いて作製したものであってもよい。例えば、シートの作製は共有押出し成形によるとよいが、任意で共有押出し成形後に圧縮成形を行ってもよい。また、公知の多様な技術のいずれか1つを用いてシートを成形によって得ることもできる。かかる技術としては、例えば、ブロー成形、圧縮成形、射出成形、熱成形などが挙げられる。
変形例として、シートをタンクと同時に作製して、タンクの作製に用いられる多層構造プラスチックから切り取ることができる。この工程は、付属品が取り付けられたタンクの作製を同時進行させるという観点から特に有利である。例えば、タンク又はその一部を作製した後に、タンク壁の領分からシート用に直接切り取ることが可能である。この変形例では、タンク多層構造体の一番内側の表面層が一番外側の層と適合性があることを前提としている。
もう1つの変形例は、タンク作製中のスクラップが最適な多層構造体であるならば、そこからシートを切り取ることができる。
また、当初からそのために特別に設計しタンクと同時に作製されたタンク補助部分からシートを切り取ることも可能である。
シートの外周領域を薄くするには、適切な技術であればいかなるものも用いることができる。最適な技術としては、熱成形や押出−圧縮成形などの成形技術が挙げられる。
シートをタンクに溶接する作業は、それ自体が一般に公知となっている技術であればいかなるものによって行ってもよい。例えば、熱板溶接法又はレーザー溶接法を利用することができる。熱板溶接法が好ましい。プレートをタンクに溶接する手法が、シートの厚みを薄くした外周領域の溶接の手法と異なっていてもよい。
本発明の上記方法の実施にあたり推奨されるやり方として、タンクの外側表面に接触するプラスチック層の厚みを薄くした部分にレーザーまたは赤外線を通さない組成物を混入させる。
この実施方法によると、厚みを薄くしたシート外周領域のレーザー又は赤外線による溶接の品質が向上したタンクを製造することができ、有利である。「レーザー又は赤外線を通さない組成物」という表現は、レーザー又は赤外線照射エネルギーを実質的な比率で吸収及び/又は反射する組成物を意味すると解釈される。かかる組成物で良好な結果が得られた例として、カーボンブラック充填剤が挙げられる。この組成物は、タンク壁と直接的に接触する層の高分子材料全体にわたって均一に分散されるので有利である。
しかしながら、この固定作業を行う際には溶接を用いることが好ましい。
再度言及しておくと、「固定」及び「タンクの内側」という用語、表現は上記の封止システムですでに説明した意味と同じである。
この場合、シートが付属品の支持体の役目をし、付属品をタンクの中に容易に導入することができる。
これに対して、第2の変形例では、第1のステップで少なくとも1種の付属品を開口部に隣接したタンク内壁に固定し、それに続く第2のステップでシートを付属品と開口部の外周部とに同時に溶接する。
ラグは開口部の外周近くのタンクの外壁に成形される。この箇所では、ラグを保持するクランプによってタンク壁は支えられている。
シートをタンク壁から切り取る場合も、前述のラグと同様のものを使用することができ、壁の変形を防ぐことができる。
また、溶接作業の前に、ラグを利用してタンク表面に起こりがちな平面性の欠如を補正することもできる。
最後になるが、タンクの外側表面の形状をシートの形状に完全に一致させるのにもラグは役に立つ。
「自動車両」という用語は、トラック、乗用車、オートバイなどの内燃機関を動力源としている乗り物を意味すると解釈される。
図面にはタンク(11)が描かれている。タンクの壁は、EVOHからなるバリアー層とそれを囲む2層のHDPE層とを有する多層構造体で形成されている。バリアー層は、無水マレイン酸グラフトポリエチレンの「ADMER(アドマー)(登録商標)L2100」(三井化学の商標)からなる接着剤による厚さ80μmの薄い中間層を介してHDPE層に固定されている。タンク(11)の壁の多層構造体には開口部が設けられ、開口部では、タンク(11)の壁(4)の縁部(5)にサイホン(2)がスナップ止めされている。フロート(6)付き排出ROV弁(3)にはポリアセタール製のスカート(3)が設けられており、ROV弁もサイホン(2)にスナップ止めで固定されていた。
Claims (10)
- プラスチック製タンクの開口部を封止するための、前記開口部の外周に沿って前記タンクの壁に溶接されたプラスチックシートで構成されるシステムであって、前記シートがバリアー層を含む多層構造体により作成され、その構造体の外層がタンクに溶接され、かつ、前記タンクの外側表面を形成しているプラスチックの組成と親和性のある組成を有しているシステムであって、前記シートの外周領域が溶接域内において、関係式l/e≧5による形状に適合するように薄くされていることを特徴とし、式中、lは薄くされた領域の幅を示し、eはタンク壁に接触する層の厚みを示し、ともに同じ長さ単位で表されたシステム。
- 前記l/e比が少なくとも8であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記タンクが多層構造体で形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載のシステム。
- 前記タンク及び前記シートが同じ多層構造体で形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のシステム。
- 前記シートが、前記タンクの内側に配置された少なくとも1種の付属品に固定されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のシステム。
- プラスチック製タンクの開口部を多層構造を有するプラスチック製シートを用いて封止する方法で、前記多層構造体の外層が、前記開口部の外周に沿って前記タンクの壁に溶接され、かつ前記タンクの外側表面を形成しているプラスチックの組成と親和性のある組成を有する方法であって、溶接する前に前記シートの外周領域を関係式l/e≧5による形状に適合するように薄くすることを特徴とし、式中、lは薄くされた領域の幅を示し、eはその厚みを示し、ともに同じ長さ単位で表される方法。
- 前記薄くされた部分が、レーザー又は赤外線溶接法で溶接されることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記レーザーまたは赤外線を通さない組成物が、前記タンクの外側表面に接触するプラスチック層の薄くした部分に取り込まれていることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記シートの外周領域が、熱成形と押出−圧縮成形から選ばれた方法で薄くされることを特徴とする請求項6〜8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 自動車両用燃料タンクの開口部を封止するための請求項6〜9のいずれか1項に記載の方法の使用。
