一実施例において、この後に、システムユーザは、例えば、コンテンツレコード検索処理にコンテンツカテゴリごとの、日付／時間範囲を指定することができる。さらに、システムユーザは、例えば、コンテンツレコード検索処理にそれぞれのコンテンツカテゴリ内で指定されたコンテンツデータベースを指定することができる。さらに、システムユーザは、例えば、コンテンツレコード検索処理中に検索されたコンテンツレコードから構成された個人チャンネルプログラムに、総番組時間の最大値を指定することができる。最後に、システムユーザは、例えば、コンテンツレコード検索処理中にコンテンツデータベースから検索されたコンテンツレコードを編成するために、特定のコンテンツレコードシーケンス、又は他のソート基準を指定することができる。
その後、検索モジュールは、指定されたコンテンツデータベースのそれぞれのデータベースサーバのオペレーションを調整し、指定されたコンテンツレコードにアクセスし、指定されたコンテンツレコードをダウンロードすることができる。次に、個人チャンネルマネージャのコンテンツパッケージングモジュールは、例えば、任意の適切な技術を用いて、コンテンツレコードソート処理を実行することができ、それによって、対応する個人チャンネルプログラムを生成することができる。例えば、コンテンツパッケージングモジュールは、ダウンロードされたコンテンツレコードを、上述の個人チャンネルコンフィギュレーション処理中に指定された様々なソート基準に基づいてソートすることができる。最後に、システムユーザは、テレビジョン装置上で個人チャンネルプログラムを見ることができる。
上述の実施例に加えて、個人テレビジョンチャンネルは、オフラインモードで動作することが可能であり、このオフラインモード中には、検索モジュールは、例えば、特定の指定された時間において、コンテンツレコード検索処理を予め実行することができる（あるいは、コンテンツレコード検索処理を予め所定の間隔で実行することができる）。その後、コンテンツパッケージングモジュールは、例えば、コンテンツレコードソート処理を予め実行することにより、システムユーザが個人チャンネルモードを起動し次第、個人チャンネルプログラムを見ることが可能となる。
検索モジュールは、例えば、個人チャンネルコンフィギュレーション処理中に定義される１以上の検索パラメータに基づいて、コンテンツレコード検索処理を管理する。検索マネージャは、上述のコンテンツレコード検索処理中に、遠隔に位置する１以上のコンテンツデータベースから、１以上のコンテンツレコードを選択的に検索し、これにアクセスすることができる。次に、これに対応してコンテンツパッケージングモジュールは、ユーザが指定したソート基準に基づいて、コンテンツレコードソート処理を実行させ、それによって検索されたコンテンツレコードを個人チャンネルプログラム内に編成する。その結果、システムユーザは、双方向テレビジョン装置上に表示される個人チャンネルプログラムを見ることができる。
図１の実施例において、コンテンツデータベース１３０は、各コンテンツプロバイダに対応した適切なコンテンツレコードを記憶する１以上の別々のコンテンツデータベース１３０を含むことができる。例えば、特定の放送局又は番組提供元は、ＳＴＢ１１４のアクセスによって、対応するコンテンツデータベース１３０内に適切なコンテンツレコードを選択及びソートすることができる。以下、コンテンツデータベース１３０の実現及び利用方法について、図５〜図８を参照しながらさらに説明する。
図４の実施例において、個人チャンネルマネージャ３２４は、例えば、コンテンツパッケージングモジュール４２４を使用して、コンテンツレコードソート処理を実行することができ、それによって、システムユーザによって見ることができる対応した個人チャンネル番組を作成することができる。上述のコンテンツレコードソート処理を実行するためにコンテンツパッケージングモジュール４２４を使用することについての実施例は、図８を参照して後で説明する。
ステップ７６４において、システムユーザ又は他のエンティティは、コンテンツレコード検索処理用の各コンテンツカテゴリ内における指定されたコンテンツデータベース１３０を指定することができる。最後に、ステップ７６８において、システムユーザ又は他のエンティティは、個人チャンネルプログラム用の総番組時間の最大値を指定することができる。さらに、ステップ７６８において、システムユーザ又は他のエンティティは、コンテンツレコード検索処理中にコンテンツデータベースから検索される、コンテンツレコード５２４をソートするための特定のコンテンツレコードシーケンスを指定することができる。
例えば、一実施例において、システムユーザは、予め定めたデフォルトのソートインストラクションを選択することができる。さらに、システムユーザは、コンテンツカテゴリ、又は、ＳＴＢ１１４内の個人チャンネルプログラムの過去のソート履歴に基づく、ソートインストラクションを選択することもできる。あるいは、システムユーザは、これらに限定されるものではないが、特定のコンテンツレコード検索処理の検索パラメータ、又は過去に検索されたコンテンツレコード５２４を含む基準によって、検索されたコンテンツレコード５２４をソートすることができる。
その後、ステップ８６４において、コンテンツパッケージングモジュール４２４は、例えば、任意の適切な技術を用いて、コンテンツレコードソート処理を実行することができ、それによって、対応する個人チャンネルプログラムを生成することができる。本発明によれば、コンテンツパッケージングモジュール４２４は、例えば、図７を参照して説明したように、上述の個人チャンネルコンフィギュレーション処理中に特定される様々な基準に基づいて、ダウンロードしたコンテンツレコード５２４をソートすることができる。最後に、ステップ８６８において、システムユーザは、例えば、個人チャンネルプログラムをテレビジョン受信機１２２上で見ることができる。
本発明によれば、上述の個人チャンネルモードは、システムユーザが個人チャンネルモードを起動した直後に、検索モジュール４２０がコンテンツレコード検索処理を実行し、システムユーザが完成した個人チャンネルプログラムを見ることができる前に、コンテンツパッケージングモジュール４２４がコンテンツレコードソート処理を実行することができるという、オンラインモードにおける場面について記載されている。上述のオンラインモードは、テレビジョン受信機１２２上に表示するためのコンテンツレコード５２４の生のストリーミングにも適している。
あるいは、個人チャンネルモードは、検索モジュール４２０が特定の指定された時間においてコンテンツレコード検索処理を前もって実行することができる（又は、所定の時間間隔でコンテンツレコード検索処理を実行できる）という、オフラインモードで動作することができる。オフラインモードにおいて、コンテンツレコード検索処理は、指定したコンテンツレコードを検索しダウンロードする、進行中や連続的な処理であってもよい。次に、コンテンツパッケージングモジュール４２４は、例えば、システムユーザが個人チャンネルモードを起動し次第、個人チャンネルプログラムを見ることができるように、コンテンツレコードソート処理を事前に実行することができる。このように、本発明は、特定のシステムユーザの関心に有効的に導くコンテンツ情報を含む双方向テレビジョンプログラムを意のままに実行するための効果的な方法を提供する。
