Abstract
【解決手段】 方法は、低級石炭の燃焼により生成される煙道ガスの中に元素水銀(Hg0)が放出されるように、燃焼システムで塩素含有量の少ない石炭(32、52)を燃焼させる工程と、燃焼システムで塩素含有量の多い石炭(34、54)を燃焼させることにより、煙道ガス中に塩素を放出する工程と、煙道ガス中で元素水銀と放出された塩素とを反応させて、水銀を酸化する工程と、石炭の燃焼により生成された酸化水銀の少なくとも一部を煙道ガス中の吸着剤によって吸着する工程と、燃焼廃棄物処理システムで吸着剤を酸化水銀と共に回収する工程(19、26)とを含む。

Claims (10)
- 燃焼システム(16)における低級石炭(32、52)の燃焼からのガス放出物の中の水銀を減少させるための方法において、
a.低級石炭の燃焼により生成される煙道ガスの中に元素水銀(Hg0)が放出されるように、燃焼システムで塩素含有量の少ない石炭(32、52)を燃焼させることと、
b.燃焼システムで塩素含有量の多い石炭(34、54)を燃焼させることにより、煙道ガス中に塩素を放出することと、
c.煙道ガスの中で元素水銀と放出された塩素とを反応させて、水銀を酸化することと、
d.石炭の燃焼により生成された酸化水銀の少なくとも一部を煙道ガス中の吸着剤によって吸着すること(86)と、
e.燃焼廃棄物処理システムで吸着剤(24、26、28)を酸化水銀と共に回収することとから成る方法。 - 塩素含有量の少ない石炭(32、52)は100百万分率(ppm)未満の塩素を含み、塩素含有量の多い石炭(34、54)は100ppmを超える塩素を含む請求項1記載の方法。
- 塩素含有量の少ない石炭(32、52)は燃焼前に塩素含有量の多い石炭(34、54)と混合される(14)請求項1記載の方法。
- 塩素含有量の少ない石炭は工程(a)及び工程(b)の前に塩素含有量の多い石炭と混合される(14)請求項1記載の方法。
- 塩素含有量の多い石炭(34、54)は、塩素含有量の少ない石炭の燃焼により生成される煙道ガス中の煙道ガスダウンストリームの中で燃焼される(36)請求項1記載の方法。
- 燃焼廃棄物処理システムは粒子制御装置(26)を含み、酸化水銀の吸着は、水銀を吸着するために煙道ガス中に吸着剤として吸収剤(24)を噴射することを含む請求項1記載の方法。
- 燃焼廃棄物処理システムは粒子制御装置(26)を含み、酸化水銀はフライアッシュに吸着され、粒子制御装置により捕捉される請求項1記載の方法。
- 吸着剤は燃焼により生成されるフライアッシュであり、フライアッシュの強熱減量レベルは少なくとも0.5%である請求項1記載の方法。
- 吸着剤は燃焼により生成されるフライアッシュであり、前記方法は、吸着剤としてフライアッシュの中に過剰な炭素を生成することを更に含み、フライアッシュの強熱減量レベルは少なくとも0.5%である請求項1記載の方法。
