Description

The present invention relates to a tool changer for a machine tool and a tool cleaning method.

When the tool is changed, the processing accuracy of the workpiece is maintained by accurately mounting the tool on the spindle of the machine tool. However, in a machine tool including a tool changer, a tool is held by a turret or magazine, and the turret or magazine is disposed in the vicinity of cutting a workpiece. Therefore, there is a high possibility that chips generated by cutting the workpiece adhere to the tool. If foreign matter such as chips adheres to the joint between the spindle and the tool, the tool holder may not be accurately mounted on the spindle, which adversely affects machining accuracy. For this reason, a method has been adopted in which the taper portion and the flange portion, which are the joint surface with the main shaft of the tool, are cleaned by removing chips and the like with a fluid such as air or coolant.

For example, after removing the tool from the spindle and storing it in the tool magazine, the swivel plate of the tool magazine is swung, the tool holding unit holding the removed tool is transported to the position where the tool cleaning means is arranged, and the tool is washed with cleaning liquid. What is washed is known (see Patent Document 1).
Also known is a cleaning device that removes chips and the like that have been removed by spraying coolant liquid onto the taper of the tool that is in close contact with the tapered surface of the spindle when the tool is mounted on the spindle during tool change. (See Patent Document 2).

In addition, when using a two-face constraining type tool in which the flange surface is brought into contact with the end surface of the main shaft and the shank portion is mounted in the mounting hole of the main shaft, a main shaft end surface cleaning tool is provided, and the main shaft end surface cleaning tool is Some are mounted on the main shaft and a clearance is formed between the end surface of the main shaft and the flange surface of the main shaft end surface cleaning tool, and cleaning liquid is removed from the end surface of the main shaft to clean the main shaft end surface. It is publicly known (see Patent Document 3).

In addition, an air nozzle is opened in the spindle side taper part that fits with the taper part of the tool holder, and when the tool holder is detached from the spindle side taper part or when a new tool is mounted on the spindle, Pressurized air is supplied from the power source to each joint surface between the tool holder and the spindle taper hole through an air hole and an air nozzle provided on the spindle side, and is attached to the taper portion of the fitting surface on the tool holder and the spindle side. What removed powder etc. with air and cleaned it is known (refer patent document 4).

The turret and magazine of the tool changer are arranged in the vicinity of the cutting area. Therefore, chips scattered by processing adhere to the taper portion and the flange portion of the tool stored and held in the turret or magazine. Therefore, after using the tool, even if the taper part and the flange part, which are the joint surface with the main spindle of the tool, are cleaned, foreign matter such as chips adheres during standby, and is mounted on the main spindle and processed as it is There is a problem that the machining accuracy is deteriorated and the spindle or the taper of the tool or the flange portion is damaged. As described in Patent Documents 1 and 4, if the joint surface with the main shaft of the tapered portion or the flange portion is cleaned immediately before the use of the tool, it tends to be judged that this problem does not occur.

However, in the case of machining using coolant, the chips adhering to the waiting turret and the tool in the magazine are strongly adhered to the taper or flange part of the tool by the concentrated liquid with high viscosity over time. It cannot be completely removed even if washing is performed with a method such as

Also, when dry processing or processing using air is performed, the amount of chips adhering to the turret or the tool in the magazine increases due to static electricity or the like, and thus cannot be completely removed even by cleaning with air.
Therefore, the present invention improves the above-described problems, and a tool changer that can more reliably remove foreign matters such as chips adhering to the taper portion and flange portion of the tool, which are joint surfaces to the spindle. It is to provide a tool cleaning method.

In the invention according to claim 4, in conjunction with the turning of the turret or magazine at the time of tool selection, coolant liquid or air is discharged from the nozzle so that the tool in the turret or magazine is cleaned every tool selection operation. It is a thing.

By passing the tool in the turret or magazine through the coolant liquid or air, cleaning / removal of chips adhering to the taper portion or flange portion of the tool with respect to the waiting tool in the turret or magazine, Since chips and the like adhering during standby in the turret or magazine are also washed / removed, foreign matters such as chips can be more reliably removed from the taper portion or flange portion of the tool.

FIG. 1A is a front view of a machine tool using the first embodiment to which the present invention is applied, and shows a view from the front surface with the front cover 7 removed. FIG. 1B is a side view thereof. FIG. 2A is an enlarged front view of the tool changer according to the first embodiment, and FIG. 2B is a right side view of the tool changer.
An arm member 2 is attached to the column 1 of the machine tool, and a turret 4 holding a tool 3 is attached to the arm member 2 so as to be able to turn. A spindle head 5 is attached to the column 1 so as to be movable up and down. A spindle 6 is attached to the spindle head 5 and a work attached to a table 11 by a tool 3 attached to the spindle 6. To cut. Tool cooling nozzles 8 a and 8 b for cooling the tool by supplying a coolant liquid to the cutting region are also attached to the spindle head 5. When exchanging the tool 3, the main shaft 6 is raised, and the tool 3 attached to the main shaft 6 is taken out and held on the turret 4. Thereafter, the turret 4 is turned, the tool 3 to be mounted on the main shaft 6 is next selected, and the tool 3 is attached to the main shaft 6. Then, the spindle 6 is lowered, and the workpiece attached to the table 11 is cut. At this time, the coolant liquid supplied through the coolant supply pipe 10a is discharged from the tool cooling nozzles 8a and 8b to the machining area.

The above is the same as the configuration and operation of a machine tool provided with a conventional tool changer. In the tool changer of this embodiment, tool cleaning nozzles 9 a and 9 b for cleaning the joint surface of the tool 3 held by the turret 4 with the main shaft 6 are arranged on both sides of the main shaft 6 and attached to the main shaft head 5. And a coolant supply pipe 10b for supplying a coolant liquid to the tool cleaning nozzles 9a, 9b is different from the conventional tool changer.
In this embodiment, when the turret 4 is turned to select the tool 3, as shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, the coolant liquid 30 is supplied by the coolant supply pipe 10 b and is held by the turret 4. Tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b for discharging the coolant liquid 30 are arranged so as to intersect the moving path of the tool 3 being moved.

The tool 3 has a tapered portion 3 a that fits and joins the tapered hole of the main shaft 6. Further, in the case of a two-face constrained type tool, it has a flange portion 3b that abuts the end surface of the main shaft 6 and the surface, and when the tool 3 is mounted on the main shaft 6, the tapered portion 3a of the tool is inserted into the tapered hole of the main shaft 6. Are attached to the main shaft so that the end surface of the main shaft 6 and the surface of the flange portion 3b come into contact with each other. In the present embodiment, the tapered portion and the flange portion are cleaned with a coolant liquid.
In the present embodiment, when the turret 4 turns, the tool cleaning nozzle 9a, so that the coolant liquid is discharged toward the region through which the tapered portion 3a and the flange portion 3b of the tool 3 held by the turret 4 pass. The position and orientation of 9b are determined and attached to the spindle head 5.

Each time the turret 4 turns for tool selection, the coolant liquid is discharged from the nozzles 9a and 9b for cleaning the tool, and the taper portion of the tool 3 that is a joint portion with the main shaft 6 is discharged from the coolant liquid 30. By passing 3a and the flange surface 3b, the tool 3 held by the turret 4 is rotated and cleaned every time the tool is selected.
In this embodiment, in addition to the taper portion 3a and the flange portion 3b of the tool 3 to be used, the turret 4 is swung to pass through the region where the coolant liquid is discharged while the tool 3 to be used moves to the position of the main shaft 6. The taper portion 3a and the flange portion 3b of the unused tool 3 to be cleaned can be simultaneously cleaned.

In the first embodiment described above, the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b are attached to the spindle head 5 and moved up and down together with the spindle head 5. However, the turret 4 is swung to select a tool at a predetermined position. Therefore, the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b are attached to non-moving members, and the coolant liquid is discharged toward the moving path of the taper portion 3a and the flange portion 3b of the tool 3 held by the turning turret 4. It may be.
FIG. 3 is a diagram showing a main part of the second embodiment of the present invention in which a tool cleaning nozzle is attached at a fixed position. FIG. 3A is an enlarged front view of the tool changer according to the second embodiment, and FIG. 3B is a side view thereof.

FIG. 4 is an explanatory view of the main part of the third embodiment of the present invention. In the third embodiment, the present invention is applied to a tool changer using a magazine 20 as means for storing a tool instead of a turret. FIG. 4A is a side view of the magazine 20 in this embodiment, and FIG. 4B is a front view of the magazine 20. The magazine 20 has a large number of pots 23 connected by a chain 21, and the tool 3 is stored in the pots 23. As shown in FIGS. 4 (a) and 4 (b), two tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b are attached to the housing 24 of the magazine 20, and the two tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b are connected to each other. The coolant 30 is discharged toward the region through which the tapered portion 3a and the flange portion 3b, which are joint portions with the main shaft of the tool 3 held in the pot 23, pass.

Also in this embodiment, the coolant liquid 30 is discharged from the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b when the tool is selected. Then, the sprocket 22 is driven, the chain 21 is turned, and the pot 23 and the tool 3 stored in the pot 23 are turned to perform a tool selection operation. At this time, the tool 3 passes through the coolant 30 discharged from the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b, and the tapered portion 3a and the flange portion 3b of the tool 3 which are the joint surfaces with the main shaft 6 are cleaned. It will be. Each time a tool is selected and the chain 21 turns, the tool 3 accommodated in the magazine 20 is cleaned.

FIG. 5 is a diagram showing a machining liquid discharge shape by various coolant liquid discharge port shapes of the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b used in the first, second, and third embodiments described above. In FIG. 5, (a) and (b) show the nozzle for tool washing in which the fan-shaped discharge coolant liquid 30 is formed, and (a) shows that the coolant liquid 30 is filled to the inside of the fan-shaped outer shape. FIG. 5B shows a fan-shaped nozzle that is discharged inside and is hollow inside the fan-shaped outer shape. (C) is a conical nozzle having a conical shape that fills and discharges coolant liquid to the inside, and (d) is a conical nozzle having a hollow inside. (E) is a pyramidal nozzle that fills and discharges coolant liquid to the inside in a pyramid shape, and (f) is a pyramid nozzle that is hollow inside. (G) is a prismatic nozzle that fills and discharges coolant liquid to the inside, and (h) is a prismatic nozzle that is hollow inside.
As the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b used in the first to third embodiments, any of the tool cleaning nozzles having the discharge shape of the various coolants 30 shown in FIG. 5 may be used.

In each of the above-described embodiments, the coolant 30 is discharged from the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b at the same time as the turret 4 or the magazine 20 is turned by the tool selection command. Alternatively, the coolant 30 is discharged from the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b before the tool selection command is output, and then the tool selection command is output to turn the turret 4 or the magazine 20. As a result, when the tool 3 is selected, the tool 3 accommodated in the turret 4 or the magazine 20 passes through the film of the coolant liquid 30 discharged from the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b. The taper portion 3a and the flange portion 3b of the tool 3 are cleaned by the discharged coolant liquid 30 when passing through the nozzle 3, and foreign matters such as chips adhering to the taper portion 3a and the flange portion 3b are removed. Then, the tool is selected, and the discharge of the coolant liquid is terminated after the turret 4 or the magazine 20 is turned.

As described above, the cleaning is performed each time the tool is selected by discharging the coolant 30 from the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b in conjunction with the turning of the turret 4 or the magazine 20 by the tool selection. Since not only the tool 3 to be used but also the waiting tool 3 stored in the turret 4 or the magazine 20 is cleaned, chips or the like are cut off during the waiting in the turret 4 or the magazine 20. Also, the material adhering to the flange portion 3b is cleaned / removed before the adhesion strength is increased.

Further, regardless of the tool selection, the turret 4 and the magazine 20 are rotated periodically or arbitrarily, and the coolant 3 is discharged from the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b to periodically or arbitrarily clean the tool 3. It may be. In the above-described embodiment, the coolant liquid 30 is discharged from the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b. However, instead of the coolant liquid 30, a fluid such as air may be discharged. In addition, the tool cleaning nozzles 9a and 9b are arranged on both sides so as to sandwich the main shaft, and coolant liquid or air is discharged toward the tool passing below the main shaft. Only a tool cleaning nozzle may be provided. However, in this case, the cleaning effect is reduced as compared with the case where the cleaning effect is provided on both sides.
