TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to pneumatic tires, and more particularly to heavy duty tires for light trucks, trucks, buses, and the like, and more particularly to improving the durability of such tires.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in pneumatic tires (hereinafter, referred to as “tires”) used for so-called heavy-duty vehicles such as light trucks, trucks, and buses, cords cross a plurality of belt layers with an equatorial plane interposed therebetween. By arranging the crossed belt layers sequentially laminated as described above and by arranging the belt reinforcing layer in which the cord extends along the tire circumference, it is possible to withstand high internal pressure and heavy load. However, in such a tire, as shown in FIG. 5, when a large load deformation is locally applied, such as when the tire 100 rides over the protrusion 101, the belt layer 103 constituting the cross belt layer 102, There is a problem that a large shear strain is generated between the belt layers 104 and separation tends to occur particularly from both edge positions of the belt layer where stress tends to concentrate. Such a problem was particularly remarkable in tires having an aspect ratio of 70% or less.
[0003]
As a method for preventing the separation from the edge position of the belt layer, for example, in Patent Document 1, a protective layer in which a cord crosses an upper cross belt layer is disposed outside the cross belt layer in the tire radial direction, and the belt layer is provided. A tire is described in which a sufficient elastic deformation at an edge position is enabled to suppress separation at an edge position of a belt layer.
[0004]
Further, in Patent Document 2, a wide belt reinforcing layer wider than the belt layer, the cord extends across the tire circumference, in the tire radial direction outside the cross belt layer, and in the tire radial direction outside of the belt reinforcing layer, There is described a tire in which a fiber cord is provided with a narrow belt reinforcing layer inclined with respect to the tire circumferential direction to improve uniformity without impairing high-speed durability.
[0005]
Further, in Patent Document 3, a wavy belt layer made of a wavy steel cord extending substantially along the tire circumference is provided on the outer circumference side of the cross belt layer, and the wavy belt layer is provided across the tire circumference on the outer circumference side of the wavy belt layer. And a protection belt layer made of a linear steel cord extending so as to suppress the elongation of the wavy belt layer to the tire circumference, so that between the wavy belt layer and the tread, and between the protection belt layer and the tread. Describes a tire in which the occurrence of separation is prevented.
[0006]
However, these tires have a certain effect to prevent separation between these layers during normal tire load rolling, but when a large load deformation is locally applied to the tire such as when riding over a protrusion However, a large stress applied to both edges of the cross belt layer cannot be effectively reduced.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to effectively suppress the separation occurring at the edge of the cross belt layer by arranging a protective layer made of rubber coated organic fiber cords extending across the tire circumference. Another object of the present invention is to provide a pneumatic tire having improved durability.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a carcass comprising at least one ply extending in a toroidal shape, and at least two belt layers located on the outer peripheral side of a crown portion of the carcass and having a cord covered with rubber. And, of these belt layers, the outermost belt layer located on the outermost side in the tire radial direction and the belt layer adjacent thereto form a cross belt layer in which cords cross each other across the tire equatorial plane. A pneumatic tire, comprising: a belt having at least one belt reinforcing layer formed by rubber-coating an organic fiber cord which is located on the outer side in the tire radial direction of the belt and extends substantially along the tire circumference. At least one protection layer formed by rubber coating an organic fiber cord extending across the tire circumference on the tire radial outside of the belt reinforcing layer in the width direction cross section. Is arranged so as to form an overlap with at least a part of the belt reinforcing layer, and that the edge position of the protective layer coincides with the effective edge position of the cross belt layer or is located outside the width direction of the tire. It is a pneumatic tire that is characterized.
[0010]
Here, the “effective edge position of the cross belt layer” means the adjacent edge positions of the two belt layers constituting the cross belt layer when they coincide with each other. In other words, when they are different from each other, it means an edge position located further inside in the tire width direction.
[0011]
Further, it is preferable that the cross belt layer is composed of two belt layers having the same width, and the edge position of the protective layer coincides with the edge position of the cross belt layer.
[0012]
Further, the crossed belt layer is composed of two belt layers having different widths, and the edge position of the protective layer coincides with the effective edge position of the crossed belt layer or is located outside the width direction of the tire by 3 mm or less. Is preferred.
[0013]
Furthermore, it is preferable that the protective layer is a single wide protective layer having a width equal to or greater than the effective width of the cross belt layer, and that both edge positions are located on both sides of the tire equatorial plane. Here, the “effective width of the cross belt layer” refers to the width of the cross belt layer when the cross belt layer is composed of two belt layers having the same width, and two cross layers having different widths. The width of the narrower belt layer constituting the cross belt layer. In this case, the width of the protective layer is more preferably equal to or wider than the effective width of the cross belt layer by at most 6 mm.
[0014]
In addition, the protective layer is a pair of narrow protective layers disposed on both effective edges of the cross belt layer, and each narrow protective layer has its both edge positions on one side of the tire equatorial plane. Is preferred. In this case, the width of each narrow protective layer is more preferably 25 mm or more.
[0015]
Further, it is preferable that the extending direction of the cord forming the protective layer is substantially parallel to the tire width direction.
[0016]
Furthermore, it is preferable that the belt reinforcing layer is a single wide belt reinforcing layer having a width equal to or more than the effective width of the cross belt layer, and both edge positions thereof are on both sides of the tire equatorial plane. In this case, the width of the wide belt reinforcing layer is more preferably equal to or wider than the effective width of the cross belt layer by at most 6 mm.
[0017]
In addition, the belt reinforcing layer is a pair of narrow belt reinforcing layers disposed on both effective edges of the cross belt layer, and each narrow belt reinforcing layer has its both ends positioned on one side of the tire equatorial plane. Is preferred. In this case, the width of each narrow belt reinforcing layer is more preferably equal to or greater than the width of the protective layer.
[0018]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view in the width direction of a typical tire according to the present invention.
[0019]
The tire 1 shown in FIG. 1 has at least one ply extending in a toroidal shape, in FIG. 1, a carcass 2 composed of one ply, and is located on the outer peripheral side of a crown portion 3 of the carcass 2 and has a cord covered with rubber. At least two belt layers, two belt layers 4a and 4b in FIG. 1, and an outermost belt layer (upper layer) 4a positioned outermost in the tire radial direction and adjacent to the outermost belt layer 4a. A belt 6 having a belt layer (lower layer) 4b and a cord forming a crossed belt layer 5 intersecting each other across the tire equatorial plane, and a belt 6 located radially outside the belt 6 and substantially along the tire circumference. At least one belt reinforcing layer formed by rubber coating an extending organic fiber cord, and in FIG. 1, one belt reinforcing layer 7 is provided.
[0020]
The main feature of the configuration of the present invention is that at least one sheet of rubber fiber-coated organic fiber cords extending across the tire circumference is provided on the outer side in the tire radial direction of the belt reinforcing layer 7 in the cross section in the tire width direction. In FIG. 1, one protective layer 8 is arranged so as to form an overlap with at least a part of the belt reinforcing layer 7, and the edge position 9 of the protective layer 8 corresponds to that of the cross belt layer 5. In other words, it is located at the same position as the effective edge position 10 or outside the tire width direction.
[0021]
Hereinafter, a description will be given of how the present invention adopts the above configuration together with its operation.
As described above, in a tire having a crossed belt layer, when the tire rolls under load, there is a problem that shear strain is generated between adjacent belt layers constituting the crossed belt layer and separation between belts is likely to occur. In order to solve this, a belt reinforcement layer formed by rubber-covering a cord extending substantially along the tire circumferential line is disposed on the outer periphery of the belt, and belt separation in the tire circumferential direction is suppressed, thereby increasing belt interlayer separation. It is known to prevent this, but also in this case, there is a certain effect in reducing the distortion of the belt end portion during normal tire load rolling, but locally, such as when jumping over a protrusion When a large load deformation is applied to the tire, particularly to the tread corresponding to the belt edge as shown in FIG. 5, the large stress applied to both edges of the cross belt layer cannot be directly reduced.
[0022]
The inventor disposes a protective layer at an end portion of the cross belt layer so as to form an overlap portion with at least a part of the belt reinforcing layer, and at least one edge position of the protective layer is an effective end of the cross belt layer. If the edge position coincides with or is located outside the tire width direction, the rigidity on the edge of the cross belt layer is improved. As a result, the stress in the tire radial direction applied to the edge of the cross belt layer when riding over a protrusion is directly reduced. I got the idea that it can be relaxed. Further, in order to suppress the belt from extending in the circumferential direction of the tire, it is general that the cord of the protective layer is generally disposed along the circumferential direction of the tire. The arrangement in which the cords of the protective layer and the cords of the belt reinforcing layer are arranged in an intersecting arrangement with respect to the circumferential line, so that the extending direction of the protective layer cord is parallel to the tire circumferential line. Also, the idea was obtained that the elongation of the belt in the tire circumferential direction could be further suppressed, and the separation between belt layers could be more effectively prevented.
[0023]
At this time, since the cut ends of the cords that are not covered with rubber are exposed on the protective layer and the belt, if the cut sections of the exposed cords are arranged close to each other, there is a possibility that a failure nucleus may occur. Therefore, the inventor of the present invention can arrange the belt reinforcing layer on the outer side in the radial direction of the belt and further provide the protective layer on the outer side in the radial direction, so that the cut surfaces of the cord can be separated from each other. Got the idea that it can be prevented.
[0024]
However, if steel cords are used for the belt reinforcement layer and the protective layer, especially with the belt reinforcement layer, it is not possible to follow the expansion deformation during vulcanization of tires, and the number of cut ends of steel cords not covered with rubber increases. There is a concern that a failure nucleus may occur, a rigidity difference between these layers and the tread rubber may increase, and a new separation may occur at the ends of the belt reinforcing layer and the protective layer. Therefore, the inventor uses an organic fiber cord as a cord constituting the belt reinforcing layer and the protective layer, and if such a rigidity step is reduced, a large stress applied to both edges of the crossed belt layer can be effectively produced without inducing a new separation. As a result, the present inventors have found that it is possible to prevent the occurrence of interlayer separation between belts at the end of the belt, thereby improving the durability of the tire, and have completed the present invention.
[0025]
The angle between the organic fiber cord constituting the protective layer and the tire circumference is preferably 45 to 90 °, particularly preferably 80 to 90 °. As the organic fiber cord, 6-nylon, 66-nylon, aramid, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate, rayon and the like can be used, and non-stretchable aramid is particularly preferable.
[0026]
As shown in FIG. 2, when the cross belt layer 5 is composed of two belt layers 4a and 4b having the same width, the edge position 9 of the protective layer 8 is changed to the edge position 10 of the cross belt layer 5. It is preferred that they match. If the edge position 9 of the protective layer 8 is located inside the edge position 10 of the cross belt layer 5 in the tire width direction, the effect of preventing separation at the edge position 10 of the cross belt layer 5 is reduced. On the outside in the tire width direction, stress tends to concentrate on the edge 9 of the protective layer 8, and as a result, a failure nucleus due to the above-mentioned sticking is likely to occur.
[0027]
Further, as shown in FIG. 1, when the cross belt layer 5 is composed of two belt layers 4a and 4b having different widths, the edge position 9 of the protective layer 8 is the effective edge position of the cross belt layer 5. It is preferable that it is located outside the tire width direction by a range equal to 10 or 3 mm or less. If the edge position 9 of the protective layer 8 is located inside the effective edge position 10 of the cross belt layer 5 in the tire width direction, the effect of preventing separation at the edge position 10 of the cross belt layer 5 is reduced. If it is more than 3 mm and is outside in the tire width direction, the end of the protective layer 8 tends to be deformed inward in the tire radial direction when the tire is in contact with the ground, and due to this, the belt constituting the cross belt 5 Of these, distortion in another direction is likely to occur at the edge of the wider belt.
[0028]
Furthermore, when it is necessary to simplify the tire manufacturing process, a protective layer 8 as a single wide protective layer 8 having an effective width W 1 equal to or greater than a width W 2 of the cross belt layer 5, both ends It is preferable that the edge positions 9, 9 are on both sides of the tire equatorial plane E. In this case, the protective layer 8 to the width W 2 of the equivalent effective width W 1 of the cross belt layer 5 (FIG. 2) or this wide as 6mm at maximum than (Fig. 1) is more preferable. If the width W 2 of the protective layer 8 is wider than the 5mm than the effective width W 1 of the cross belt layer 5, the end portion of the protective layer 8 at the ground of the tire is easily deformed toward the inner side in the tire radial direction This is because, due to this, distortion in another direction is likely to occur at the edge of the wider belt among the belts constituting the cross belt 5.
[0029]
In addition, when the weight of the protective layer is particularly required, as shown in FIG. 3, a pair of protective layers 8 are disposed on both effective edges 10 and 10 of the cross belt layer 5, respectively. It is preferable that both end edge positions 9a, 9a or 9b, 9b of each of the narrow protective layers 8a, 8b are located on one side of the tire equatorial plane E.
In this case, the width W 2a and W 2b of each of the narrow protective layers 8a and 8b is more preferably 25 mm or more. When the width W 2a , W 2b of each of the narrow protective layers 8a, 8b is less than 25 mm, the effect of reinforcing the edge 10 of the cross belt layer 5 becomes insufficient and the exposed cord cut surface is relatively narrow. This is because separation is likely to occur from here because the concentration occurs in the region.
[0030]
Further, the extending direction of the cords forming the protective layers 8, 8a, 8b is preferably substantially parallel to the tire width direction. With such a cord arrangement, the cords constituting the belt reinforcing layer 7 and the cords constituting the protective layers 8, 8a, 8b have a so-called lattice-like arrangement relationship orthogonal to each other. This is because the elongation of the cord is effectively suppressed, and the elongation of the belt 6 in the tire circumferential direction can be further suppressed.
[0031]
Furthermore, when it is particularly necessary to suppress the belt 6 from elongating in the tire circumferential direction, as shown in FIG. 1, the belt reinforcing layer is formed with a width W equal to or greater than the effective width W 1 of the cross belt layer 5. It is preferable that one wide belt reinforcing layer 7 having three is provided, and both end edge positions 11, 11 are on both sides of the tire equatorial plane E. In this case, among the belt constituting the cross belt 5, from the viewpoint of preventing the different directions of the strain is generated in the edge of the wider belt width, the width W 3 of the wide belt reinforcing layer 7 is cross wider only 6mm up to than the effective width W 1 of the belt layer 5 is more preferable.
[0032]
In addition, if the weight reduction of the belt reinforcing layer is particularly required, as shown in FIG. 3, a pair of belt reinforcing layers is disposed on both effective edges 10 and 10 of the cross belt layer 5. The narrow belt reinforcing layers 7a, 7b are preferably arranged such that both end edge positions 11a, 11a or 11b, 11b are located on one side of the tire equatorial plane E. In this case, the widths W 3a and W 3b of the narrow belt reinforcing layers 7a and 7b are equal to the widths W 2a and W 2b of the protective layers, from the viewpoint of sufficiently suppressing elongation in the tire circumferential direction at the belt end. It is preferable that it is above.
[0033]
The above description is only an example of the embodiment of the present invention, and various changes can be made within the scope of the claims. For example, in FIG. 1, the lower layer 4b is wider than the upper layer 4a among the two belt layers constituting the cross belt layer, but as shown in FIG. 4A, the upper layer 4a is wider than the lower layer 4b. Is also good. However, the effect of suppressing the separation from the effective edge of the cross belt layer 5 is particularly remarkable in the former case. 1 and 2 show the combination of the wide belt reinforcing layer and the wide protective layer, and FIG. 3 shows the combination of the narrow belt reinforcing layer and the narrow protective layer. As shown in FIGS. 4 (b) and (c), a combination of a narrow belt reinforcing layer and a wide protective layer, or a combination of a wide belt reinforcing layer and a narrow protective layer may be employed.

【Example】
Next, a pneumatic tire according to the present invention was prototyped and its performance was evaluated, and will be described below.
[0035]
The tires of Examples 1 to 9 are radial tires for small trucks having a tire size of 205 / 65R16, in which the belt is composed of a cross belt layer composed of two belt layers, and constitutes a belt reinforcing layer and a protective layer. The organic fiber cord is 66d nylon of 1500d / 2, the tires of Examples 1 to 5 have one wide belt layer and one wide protective layer, and the tires of Examples 6 and 7 Each of the tires of Examples 8 and 9 has a pair of narrow belt layers and a pair of narrow protective layers, and each of the tires of Examples 8 and 9 has a pair of narrow protective layers. It has the specifications shown in FIG. In Table 1, “belt reinforcing layer edge position” and “protective layer edge position” represent relative positions with respect to the effective edge position of the crossed belt layer. It means that the edge position of the protective layer is outside the effective edge position of the cross belt layer in the width direction. If the value is negative, the edge position of the belt reinforcing layer or the protective layer is the effective edge of the cross belt layer. It means that it is inside the edge position in the width direction.
[0036]
For comparison, a tire having the same tire size and the same number of belt layers as in Examples 1 to 9, having the specifications shown in Table 1, and not having a belt reinforcing layer and a protective layer (Comparative Examples 1 and 5) A tire having a belt reinforcing layer but no protective layer (Comparative Example 2), a tire having a belt reinforcing layer composed of an organic fiber cord and a protective layer composed of a steel cord (Comparative Example 3), and A prototype having a belt reinforcing layer and a protective layer composed of an organic fiber cord but having an edge position of the protective layer outside the scope of the present invention (Comparative Example 4) was also trial manufactured.
[0037]
Each of the test tires was mounted on a standard rim (6JJ) specified by JATMA to form tire wheels. The tire wheels were mounted on a 2t truck under the conditions of an air pressure of 600 kPa (relative pressure) and a tire load of 750 kN, and pebbles were found. After traveling 40,000 km on a general road, the tire was dissected and the length of a crack or separation from the edge of the crossed belt layer was measured to evaluate durability. Table 1 shows the evaluation results. In Table 1, the edge position of the belt reinforcing layer and the edge position of the protective layer indicate the distance measured from the effective edge position of the cross belt layer toward the outer side in the tire width direction. In this case, it means that it is located on the inner side in the tire width direction. Further, the cord angle of the protective layer indicates an angle measured from the acute angle side between the cord of the protective layer and the tire circumference. Further, the durability evaluation results are shown as index ratios when the evaluation result of Comparative Example 1 is set to 100, and the smaller the numerical value, the better. Furthermore, when the maximum air pressure specified by JATMA was applied to a new tire, the amount of diameter growth immediately above the belt edge (index ratio when Comparative Example 1 was set to 100) was also measured. did.
[0038]
[Table 1]
[0039]
From the results shown in Table 1, the tire of Example 1 is superior in durability to the tire of Comparative Example 5 having the cross belt layer of the same configuration, and the tires of Examples 2 to 9 have the same configuration. It can be seen that the tires of Comparative Examples 1 to 4 having the crossed belt layers have excellent durability.
[0040]
