本発明は、栄養補助食品に関し、特に血糖値を下げ、ダイエットに効果がある桑の葉を用いた栄養補助食品に関する。

主として桑の葉を用いた栄養補助食品として、桑の葉とアガリスクの抽出物を用いたもの(特許文献1参照。)、桑の葉の抽出液をプロポリス加工したもの(特許文献2参照。)、桑の葉の粉末とカキの粉末を用いたもの(特許文献3参照。)、桑の葉とキトサンを用いたもの(特許文献4参照。)、桑の葉と蚕の糞に酒を含ませた後乾燥して粉末としたもの(特許文献5参照。)、桑の葉と梅肉などを素材としたもの(特許文献6参照。)などが報告されており、そのほか多数の組成物のひとつとして桑の葉を用いたものなどは多数報告されている。

以上述べたように、従来報告されている桑の葉を主要組成とする栄養補助食品には、栄養補助食品摂取の初期段階から最終段階まで一貫して用いることができるという視点が欠けており、また、各組成物が有効に働くためには1日あたりどのぐらいの量を摂取すればよいかがあまり明確になっていなかった。
