【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、携帯無線機の筐体内に内蔵される携帯無線機用アンテナに係り、特に、取り付けが容易で、誘電損失が少なく、アンテナの諸特性を損なうことなく小型化ができ、周波数特性や帯域幅の調節が容易な携帯無線機用アンテナに関するものである。

【従来の技術】
携帯電話機などの携帯無線機には、誘電体を成型してなるモックアップ(以下、筐体という)の内部にアンテナの放射素子を設けたものがある。この種のアンテナとして、従来、逆Fアンテナが知られている。即ち、図12に示されるように、従来の携帯無線機用アンテナは、誘電体を成型して偏平形状の筐体1を形成し、この筐体1内部の底部2にグランド及び給電源を有するプリント基板3を配置し、このプリント基板3に対向させて放射素子となる金属板4を筐体1内部の天部5に配置し、プリント基板3と金属板4との間をグランド接続(短絡)及び給電接続したものである。

プリント基板3と逆Fアンテナの放射素子である金属板4との間の給電方法は、種々あるが、そのひとつとして、プリント基板3と金属板4との間に金属製の伸縮棒11a,11bを配置してグランドへの短絡及び放射素子への給電を行うものがある。伸縮棒11a,11bは、軸方向に伸縮自在な筒状体の中に軸方向に力が働く弦巻バネを内蔵したものであり、市販されている。この伸縮棒11aをプリント基板3のグランドパターン(図示せず)と金属板4の所望箇所との間に立てることでグランド接続が達成され、さらに、伸縮棒11bをプリント基板3の給電パターン(図示せず)と金属板4の所望箇所との間に立てることで給電接続が達成される。即ち、一方の伸縮棒11bはプリント基板3から放射素子である金属板4への給電点を形成する。

金属板4は、筐体1の底部2のプリント基板3から適宜に離して配置されるので、筐体1の天部5に固定する。その固定のために、従来は、天部5内壁と金属板4との間に両面粘着テープ20を介設するか或いは天部5内壁の一部を溶かして金属板4を熱融着している。

金属板4は、天部5内壁の平坦部に沿わせて平面的に設けられる。従って、金属板4の広さは天部5の寸法により規定される。一方、金属板4には、スリット21(図12参照)を設けることにより、複数のパッチ13a,13bが分割形成されており、これらのパッチ13a,13bにおける共振信号の経路の長さから各々の共振周波数が規定され、これによりアンテナの周波数特性や帯域幅が決まる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
従来の携帯無線機用アンテナには、次のような問題点がある。

放射素子となる金属板4は、誘電体である筐体1の天部5に対して粘着テープ20を介設するか或いは天部5内壁の一部を溶かして熱融着することで取り付け・固定されている。しかし、この固定方法では、携帯無線機の製造時の取り付け作業に手間がかかる。また、筐体1を構成する誘電体には誘電損失が小さいものを選んで採用することができるが、粘着テープ20を構成するテープ基体や粘着剤には誘電損失が小さいものがない。このように、粘着テープ20は誘電損失が大きいため、放射素子に密着していると、アンテナの損失が増加し、放射効率が低下する。接着剤で固定しても、接着剤の誘電損失が大きいので、同じことである。

アンテナの小型化若しくは筐体1の小型化を図るために放射素子を小型化すると各パッチも小さくなり、各パッチにおける共振信号の経路が短くなり、これによって共振周波数が高くなり、所望した周波数特性が得にくくなる。また、限られた広さの中で共振信号の経路を長くするために、スリット21を複雑に屈曲させるなどしてパッチの形状を複雑化させると、放射効率が低下してしまう。

周波数特性や帯域幅はパッチの形状のみで実現される。しかし、伸縮棒11a,11bを用いた給電方式では、プリント基板3や金属板4において伸縮棒11a,11bを接続する部分の形状が購入品である伸縮棒11a,11bに整合するよう限定され、任意形状とすることができない。このため、金属板4の形状を変えて周波数特性や帯域幅を所望する値に調節することは困難であった。そして、伸縮棒11a,11bそのものも購入品であるため、任意形状とすることができない。

そこで、本発明の目的は、上記課題を解決し、取り付けが容易で、誘電損失が少なく、アンテナの諸特性を損なうことなく小型化ができ、周波数特性や帯域幅の調節が容易な携帯無線機用アンテナを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために本発明は、携帯無線機の筐体内に、グランド及び給電源を有する基板に対向させて放射素子となるシート状の金属導体部分を設け、これら基板と金属導体部分との間をグランド接続及び給電接続した携帯無線機用アンテナにおいて、前記筐体の内壁に突起を形成し、この突起に前記金属導体部分を係合させることで該金属導体部分を前記筐体に保持させたものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の一実施形態を添付図面に基づいて詳述する。

図1に示されるように、本発明に係る携帯無線機用アンテナは、誘電体を成型して偏平形状の筐体1を形成し、この筐体内部の底部2にグランド及び給電源を有するプリント基板3を配置し、このプリント基板3に対向させて放射素子となるシート状の金属導体部分(以下、金属板とする)4を筐体内部の天部5に配置し、プリント基板3と金属板4との間をグランド接続及び給電接続したものである。なお、図示した筐体1は、携帯無線機の全体とは限らず、例えば、折り畳み式筐体の片側であるか又は一体式筐体の片端部である。以下では、図示左右方向を筐体1の幅方向とし、図示斜め右上がり方向を筐体1の奥行き方向とする。また、図示した筐体1は直方体であるが、実際の筐体1では、外観デザイン及び成型型抜きを考慮して側部6や奥部7を天部5、底部4に対して垂直ではなく外に開くように傾斜させたり、各部の境界となる稜の部分をアールにするとよい。

筐体1の内壁には、複数箇所に突起が形成されている。図1の実施形態では、筐体1の幅方向両端に位置する側部6内壁にそれぞれ1箇所ずつ突起8が形成され、天部5内壁には幅方向両端より内側にそれぞれ1箇所ずつ突起9が形成されている。側部6内壁の突起8は、後述する金属板4の縁部に係合するように角型に形成されている。この突起8を以下では、放射素子固定用爪8或いは単に爪8と呼ぶ。一方、天部5内壁の突起9は、後述する金属板4の位置決め穴を嵌め合わせるように丸型に形成されている。この突起9を以下では、位置決めピン9と呼ぶ。

金属板4は、筐体1の天部5に向けて凸に形成されている。図1の実施形態では、金属板4の幅方向両端4aを筐体1の底部2に向けて折り曲げることにより、両折り曲げの中間の平面部分が凸になっている。この平面部分が筐体1の天部5に面で密着している。両端4aの折り曲げの角度は任意であり、例えば、ほぼ垂直に折り曲げてもよい。この折り曲げられた金属板4の縁部が筐体1に形成された爪8に係合することにより、金属板4が筐体1に保持されている。そして、金属板4の縁部が側部6内壁に当接しており、金属板4が幅方向に移動することが規制されている。爪8を単調な角型ではなく、上面を溝付きにしていっそう深く金属板4の縁部が係合するようにしてもよい。また、金属板4の折り曲げは、爪8に係合する幅方向端だけに限らず、奥行き方向の辺にも施してよい。

さらに、金属板4には幅方向両端より内側にそれぞれ1箇所ずつ丸穴10が形成されている。この丸穴10は、位置決め穴10であり、筐体1に形成された位置決めピン9に嵌め合わせることで金属板4を筐体1に対し位置決めすることができる。また、位置決め穴10に位置決めピン9が嵌まることで、金属板4の幅方向及び奥行き方向の移動が規制される。

なお、シート状の金属導体部分4は、これまで説明しているように金属板4で構成するほか、誘電体からなる支持体に金属メッキを施したり、金属箔を張り付けたりして構成することができる。この場合、上記支持体を爪8に係合させて取り付ける。上記支持体をプリント基板3に取り付けてもよい。

プリント基板3と金属板4との間をグランド接続及び給電接続する伸縮棒11a,11bは、従来と同じものである。プリント基板3上のパターンや回路部品は、従来と同じであるので、図示及び説明を省略する。また、金属板4に形成するスリットは図示省略してある。

別の実施形態では、図2に示されるように、本発明に係る携帯無線機用アンテナは、筐体1を上面が丸みを帯びた、いわゆるカマボコ型に形成したものである。上面の丸みの終端となる筐体1の幅方向両端に位置する側部6内壁に図1と同様の爪8が形成されている。また、丸みの頂点となる天部5中央の内壁に図1と同様の位置決めピン9が形成されている。

図1及び図2の構成によれば、金属板4の縁部が筐体1に形成された爪8に係合することにより、金属板4が筐体1に保持されている。従って、粘着テープを使用したり熱融着を行わなくてもよいので、取り付け作業が容易であると共に、粘着テープによる損失の増加がなくなり、誘電損失が少ない。また、位置決め穴10及び位置決めピン9を設けたので、取り付け作業が容易である。なお、この実施形態では、放射素子固定用爪8を筐体1の側部6内壁に設けたが、天部5に設けてもよく、金属板4を係合して保持することができればよい。

さらに、図1及び図2の構成によれば、金属板4を凸に形成したので、筐体1の天部5の幅方向寸法に比して金属板4を広くすることができる。これにより、共振周波数を低くできるので、筐体1を小型化しても所望した周波数特性を得やすくなる。この効果については、次の実施形態でさらに詳しく説明する。

図13の携帯無線機の筐体1を白抜き矢印で示したように幅方向に縮めて小型化しようとすると、従来技術では各パッチ13a,13bを小さくすることになり、共振周波数が高くなるのを避けられなかった。

図3は、本発明の携帯無線機用アンテナの図1に対して突起を消し、スリットと共振経路とを書き加えたものである。図13と幅を比較するため縮尺は図13と同じにしてある。図3に示されるように、金属板4が幅方向両端4aで折り曲げてあり、さらに、金属板4の幅方向略中央の位置で金属板4の一辺から反対辺近くまで伸びたスリット12により、金属板4に2つのパッチ13a,13bが分割形成されている。パッチ13a,13bは、それぞれ幅方向両端4aの折り曲げを含むことになる。2つの伸縮棒11a,11bは、共に片側のパッチ13aに接続されている。そして、グランド接続されている伸縮棒11aからそれぞれパッチ13a,13bの遠端に至る共振経路A,Bが形成されている。

図3の携帯無線機用アンテナは、図13の携帯無線機用アンテナに比べ筐体1が幅方向に縮めて小型化されている。しかし、金属板4の幅方向両端を筐体1の底部2に向けて折り曲げることにより、金属板4を凸に形成したので、筐体1の天部5の幅方向寸法に比して金属板4を広くすることができる。これにより、共振経路A,Bの長さは図13と変らない。即ち、図3の携帯無線機用アンテナは、共振周波数を変えることなく筐体1を小型化したものである。

図4に示されるように、本発明に係る携帯無線機用アンテナでは、金属板4の幅方向略中央の位置で金属板4の一辺から反対辺近くまで伸びたスリット12が、さらに屈曲して幅方向両方に伸びてT字状を呈している。これにより、伸縮棒11a,11bが接続されないパッチ13bを通る共振経路Bの電気長が非常に長くなっている。

また、このスリット12は全長に亘りスリット間隙幅が1mm以下の幅狭スリットとなっている。このように幅の狭いスリットを用いることにより、各パッチ間又はプリント基板3のグランドパターンとの間の浮遊容量Cを増加させ、共振周波数fの低周波数化を図ることができる。共振周波数fは、インダクタL及び浮遊容量Cの式(1)で決まる。

浮遊容量Cはスリット間隙幅に反比例して増加するので、アンテナを小型化若しくは筐体1を小型化したときに発生する共振周波数の高周波数化は、スリット間隙幅を1mm以下とすることで解消することができる。スリット間隙幅を1mm以下とする箇所は、スリット12の全体でなく一部であってもよい。

図5に示されるように、本発明に係る携帯無線機用アンテナでは、金属板4の幅方向略中央の位置で金属板4の一辺から反対辺近くまで伸びたスリット12が屈曲して幅方向両方に伸びてT字状を呈し、さらに、その屈曲したスリット12の途中から分岐したスリット(分断用スリット)14が金属板4のグランド接続箇所と給電接続箇所との間を分断している。これにより、共振経路Aだけでなく共振経路Bも長さが長くなっている。そして、分断用スリット14の長さやスリット間隙幅を変更することにより、グランド接続箇所と給電接続箇所との間の電気長を調節することができる。このことにより、各パッチ13a,13bの共振周波数及び帯域幅を容易に変更することが可能となる。分断用スリット14を設ける位置は、スリット12の途中に限らない(図6参照)。

図6に示されるように、本発明に係る携帯無線機用アンテナは、伸縮棒を使用せず、金属板4にグランド接続及び給電接続のための延長部15a,15bを一体成型により形成し、これら延長部15a,15bを筐体1の底部2に向けて屈曲させ、さらに、く字状に屈曲させて板バネとして弾性を持たせ、これら延長部15a,15bをプリント基板3の図示しないグランドパターン及び給電パターンに付勢して接触させたものである。なお、延長部15a,15bに弾性を持たせる形態は、く字状に屈曲させるに限らず、曲線的に湾曲させてもよい。

筐体1の形状及び金属板4の全体的な概略形状は図1と同じであるが、ここでは、金属板4の一辺から反対辺近くまで伸びた幅狭スリット12が屈曲して幅方向片方に伸びてL字状を呈している。金属板4の反対辺からは、グランド接続及び給電接続のための2つの延長部15a,15b間を分断するための分断用スリット14が伸びている。

図6の構成によれば、伸縮筒状体の中に弦巻バネを内蔵した複雑な伸縮棒を購入・使用する必要がなくなる。また、金属板4におけるグランド接続及び給電接続は延長部15a,15bが金属板4に一体であることから自ずと達成されており、伸縮棒に整合させるよう金属板4の形状を制限する必要がなくなる。これにより、金属板4の形状を変えて周波数特性や帯域幅を所望する値に調節することが可能になる。

図7に示されるように、本発明に係る携帯無線機用アンテナは、筐体1が天部側筐体1aと底部側筐体(図示せず)とに分割形成されている。天部側筐体1aは、ABS樹脂を成型したもので、底部側筐体に対してスライド、嵌め込み、ネジ止め等により固定・分解することができる。天部側筐体1aは、天部5の周囲に側部6の一部分が一体的に形成されたものである。天部側筐体1aの側部6内壁には、既に説明した放射素子固定用爪8が形成され、この放射素子固定用爪8に金属板4を係合させることで金属板4を天部側筐体1aに保持させてある。

次に、本発明と従来技術との性能比較を行う。

図8に、試験に用いる本発明の携帯無線機用アンテナを示す。図示のように、本発明に係る携帯無線機用アンテナ(本発明アンテナ)は、誘電体を成型して偏平形状の筐体1を形成し、この筐体内部にグランド及び給電源を有するプリント基板3を配置し、このプリント基板3に対向させて放射素子となる金属板4を配置し、プリント基板3と金属板4との間を伸縮棒11a,11bによりグランド接続及び給電接続したものである。金属板4は、幅方向両端と奥行き方向片端における折り曲げにより、中間の平面部分が凸になっている。その平面部分にはスリット12が設けられている。ここでは、スリット12は、図示しない他部品との干渉を回避するために金属板4の一辺に設けた切り欠きから反対辺近くまで伸び、屈曲して幅方向片方に伸びてL字状を呈し、また、その屈曲部分に至る手前で幅方向反対に分岐して小さく逆L字状を呈した枝分かれ構造となっている。なお、金属板4の縁部に係合する筐体1の突起は、図示省略してある。

図8に示した本発明アンテナの筐体1のサイズは図3に準ずるものとし、これに対し、比較試験に用いる従来の携帯無線機用アンテナ(従来アンテナ)の筐体サイズは図13に準ずるものとする。両者のアンテナ体積は、本発明アンテナが4.0cm3 、従来アンテナが4.5cm3 である。なお、アンテナ体積は金属板4の中間の平面部分(従来アンテナは金属板4の全面)と対向するプリント基板3(グランド面)とに囲まれた空間の体積である。

図9(a)に従来の金属板4、図9(b)に本発明による金属板4を示す。本発明による金属板4は、幅方向両端4aと奥行き方向片端4bで折り曲げるようになっているので、両折り曲げの中間の平面部分は従来の金属板4より面積が小さいが、金属板4全体の面積は略同じになっている。つまり、筐体1を小型化しない場合の従来アンテナと筐体1を小型化した場合の本発明アンテナの金属板4がこれらの図によって比較できる。スリット21とスリット12は、スリット間隙幅が異なると共に屈曲形状が異なるが、これらの理由は後に別の例を用いて説明する。

図10に、前記した試験用の本発明及び従来の携帯無線機用アンテナの周波数特性を示す。横軸は周波数、縦軸はリターンロスである。両者の特性はほぼ同じであるため、特性曲線が重なって見える。両者とも0.9GHz近傍及び1.8GHz近傍に共振周波数があることがわかる。これは、Grobal System for Mobic Communications(GSM)及びDigital Communications System(DCS)の規格に従い、870〜960MHzのGSM900帯及び1710〜1880MHzのDCS帯(=GSM1880帯)で通信することを目的としたものである。表1に、VSWR=3での比帯域幅の比較結果を示す。

表1に示されるように、本発明の携帯無線機用アンテナは体積を10%減らしたにもかかわらず、VSWR=3となる比帯域はGSM帯及びDCS帯とも従来の携帯無線機用アンテナと同程度となっている。この試験結果から、本発明はアンテナの諸特性を損なうことなく小型化を実現できることが証明された。

本発明及び従来の金属板4における周波数特性及び帯域幅の調整(チューニング)について、図11を用いて説明する。図11(a)に示されるように、従来アンテナでは、金属板4に設けられたスリット21は、図示しない他部品との干渉を回避するために金属板4の一辺に設けた切り欠きから反対辺近くまで伸び、屈曲して幅方向片方に伸び、さらに屈曲して鉤付きL字状を呈し、また、最初の屈曲部分に至る手前で幅方向反対に分岐して先端の長い逆L字状を呈した枝分かれ構造となっている。図11(b)に示した本発明アンテナは、図9(b)に示したものと同じである。一方、図11(a)の従来アンテナは、金属板4の大きさが本発明アンテナの金属板4の平面部分と略同じ面積である。つまり、筐体1を同じように小型化した場合の従来アンテナと本発明アンテナの金属板4がこれらの図によって比較できる。

両図を比較すると、従来アンテナは金属板4が小さいため、GSM及びDCSの2つの共振経路の電気長を確保するには、スリット21の長さを小型化以前に比べて延長しなければならない。しかし、限られた面上でスリット長を延長するためにスリット21を複雑に屈曲させている。その結果として、スリットに沿って共振する信号の経路が複雑化し、特に直進性の強いマイクロ波以上の周波数領域の信号は送受信感度が低下するという問題がある。これに対し、本発明アンテナでは金属板4の折り曲げにより面積を拡張していると共に、スリット間隙幅をスリット全長にわたり1mm以下にして共振周波数の低周波数化を図っているため、スリット12を金属板4の大きさに比べていたずらに長くする必要がなく、複雑に屈曲させなくてもよい。このため、送受信感度が低下するという問題がない。この結果、本発明では周波数特性や帯域幅を所望する値に調節することが容易になる。

【発明の効果】
本発明は次の如き優れた効果を発揮する。

(1)筐体内壁の突起に金属板を係合させることで金属板を筐体に保持させたので、固定用のテープが金属板に密着しなくなり、誘電損失が少なくなる。

(2)金属板を凸に形成することにより、アンテナの諸特性を損なうことなく小型化が図れるので、携帯電話機や携帯端末などの携帯無線機の小型化に寄与できる。

(3)スリットをグランド接続箇所と給電接続箇所との間に設けたり、延長部によりグランド接続及び給電接続を行うので、周波数特性や帯域幅の調節が容易となる。
