TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an array antenna, and more particularly to an array antenna that is applied to a radar system or the like that requires a high azimuth resolution, and is particularly preferably applied to a vehicle-mounted radar system or the like that is required to be small.
[0002]
[Prior art]
An array antenna is generally an antenna configured by arranging a plurality of element antennas having the same shape, and cannot be obtained with a single element antenna depending on the type of element antenna, the arrangement method, and the excitation method of all or some of the element antennas. An antenna with various characteristics.
[0003]
As a typical array antenna, as shown in FIG. 7A, a broadside array in which a direction perpendicular to the arrangement direction (Z-axis direction) of the element antennas 7-1 is a main radiation direction (Y-axis direction). As shown in FIG. 7B, there is an end fire array in which the arrangement direction (Y-axis direction) of the element antennas 7-2 is the main radiation direction (Y-axis direction). There is also a planar array in which element antennas are two-dimensionally arranged (for example, see Non-Patent Document 1 below).
[0004]
As a technique for improving the azimuth resolution of an array antenna,
(1) To steepen the directivity of the element antenna alone,
(2) Increase the number of element antennas to widen the aperture, or
(3) to increase the distance between element antennas,
Such techniques are known.

[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The method of (1) for steepening the directivity of the element antenna alone is difficult to improve to a certain degree or more due to the resonance frequency and radiation efficiency. In the method of (2), in which the number of element antennas is increased to increase the aperture, the configuration of the entire array antenna becomes large, and when the antenna is used as an on-vehicle radar, it is required to be small. This is problematic because strict restrictions are often imposed on widening this.
[0007]
In addition, increasing the distance between the element antennas in the above (3) increases the distance between the element antennas and coarsens the sampling in the space. In addition, the reception power is reduced, the azimuth accuracy is deteriorated, the generation of the grating, Such a drawback occurs.
[0008]
An object of the present invention is to provide an array antenna capable of obtaining a high azimuth resolution by suppressing the level of a grating lobe using the principle of directivity synthesis with a limited mounting size, such as a vehicle-mounted radar system. And
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The array antenna according to the present invention includes: (1) a plurality of element antennas arranged in a direction perpendicular to the main radiation direction and a plurality of elements arranged on each dielectric of a multilayer dielectric arranged in the same direction as the main radiation direction. And an antenna.
[0010]
(2) Each dielectric of the multilayer dielectric has a different relative permittivity.
(3) A material that absorbs polarized light in a specific direction is disposed in a space between the dielectrics of the multilayer dielectric.
(4) A liquid crystal in which a material that absorbs polarized light in a specific direction is mixed is disposed in a space between the dielectrics of the multilayer dielectric.
(5) There is provided means for adjusting the excitation amplitude distribution of the plurality of element antennas arranged on each of the dielectrics.
[0011]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
FIG. 1 shows an arrangement example of an array antenna of the present invention. The array antenna according to the present invention is arranged on each of an element antenna 1-1 arranged in a direction perpendicular to the main radiation direction (Z-axis direction) and a multilayer dielectric arranged in the same direction as the main radiation direction. It comprises a plurality of element antennas 1-2 and reduces the level of grating lobes using the principle of directivity synthesis.
[0012]
A description will be given by taking the linear array shown in FIG. 1A as an example. Now, a Broadside Array is constructed by arranging N element antennas 1-1 having a directivity coefficient Du (θ) excited by a current of In on the Z-axis, and using the i-th antenna position as a coordinate origin, Assuming that the phase difference between the currents supplied to the element antennas is zero for realization, the combined directivity coefficient Dz is given by the following equation (1).
(Equation 1)
[0013]
FIG. 2 shows the directivity gain of the broadside array when the number of element antennas N = 15 and the element antenna interval d = 1.5λ. The peak generated near θ = ± 45 ° is a grating lobe generated by arraying the antenna, which is one of the factors that degrade the spatial resolution of the array antenna.
[0014]
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 1A, the directivity coefficient of an end fire array configured by arranging M element antennas 1-2 similar to the above-described broadside array on the Y axis is represented by the distance d between element antennas. If n . It is given by the following equation (2).
(Equation 2)
[0015]
Note that each element antenna endfire array is numbered from the positive side of the Y axis, A 0 to A - and represents the (M-1). This end-fire array, as shown in FIG. 1 (b), since to be formed in the dielectric, the wavelength to be incident on each element antenna, different values lambda n between each element antenna. For even dielectrics, and M layer structure which is distinguished by the number 0~- (M-1), also each element antenna A 0 ~A - (M-1 ) , the positive direction of the Y-axis of each dielectric layer Side.
[0016]
Here, for example, if an electromagnetic wave of wavelength λ 0 is incident on the element antenna A 0 from the θ 0 direction, an electromagnetic wave of wavelength λ 1 is incident on the next element antenna A 1 from the θ 1 direction. At this time, as long as it is not a ferromagnetic material, the fact that the magnetic permeability may be set to μ 0利用 μ 1 is used, and if the relative permittivity of the first-layer dielectric is ε r 1 , λ 1 and θ 1 are , And are represented by the following equations (3) and (4). Note that k 0 and k 1 are wave numbers.
[Equation 3]
(Equation 4)
[0017]
Using these two equations, equation (5) represented by each element antenna A 0 to A in the absence of dielectric - (M-1) phase difference Equation 5] between
And the phase difference expressed by equation (6) when there is a dielectric:
It can be seen that is equal to
[0018]
Next, also for the element antennas A 1 to A 2 , the phase difference is expressed by the following equation (7):
(Equation 7)
Similarly, since the following equation (8) holds,
(Equation 8)
The directivity gain of the Y-axis direction array arranged between the multilayer dielectrics can be calculated in exactly the same manner as in the case of a regular linear array at regular intervals.
[0019]
FIG. 3 shows, as an example, the directivity gain of the endfire array when the number of element antennas is M = 5 and the element antenna interval is d = 1.0λ. FIG. 4 shows a combined directional gain of the directivity coefficient D Z of the broadside array of Expression (1) and the directivity coefficient D Y of the endfire array of Expression (2).
[0020]
Although the array antenna according to the present invention has the same aperture area as the broadside array antenna alone, it can be seen from FIG. 4 that the grating is suppressed. A larger grating suppression effect can be obtained by increasing the number M of element antennas of the end fire array or by using an element antenna having steep directivity.
[0021]
The combined directional gain shown in FIG. 4 radiates an electromagnetic wave of 76 GHz, and generates a ZY axis linear array (the number of element antennas of the broadside array N = 15, the distance d between element antennas d = 1.5λ, the end fire array). (M = 5, d = λ between element antennas).
[0022]
5 and 6 show specific examples of the shape of the array antenna according to the present invention. 5A and 5B show a first specific example, and FIG. 5A shows a front view thereof, and FIG. 5B shows a cross-sectional view taken along line AA ′. 5-1 is each element antenna of the broadside array, 5-2 is each element antenna of the end fire array, 5-3 is a dielectric having a multilayer structure, and 5-4 is a ground conductor. The element antennas 5-2 of the end fire array are arranged in the main radiation direction, but are arranged so as not to overlap each other in the main radiation direction.
[0023]
FIG. 6 shows a second specific example of the shape of the array antenna of the present invention. FIG. 1A shows a front view thereof, and FIG. 1B shows a cross-sectional view taken along line BB ′. 6-1 is a first element antenna arranged two-dimensionally on the first dielectric 6-3, and 6-2 is a second element antenna arranged two-dimensionally on the second dielectric 6-4. .
[0024]
The second element antenna 6-2 is arranged behind the first element antenna 6-1 in the same direction as the main radiation direction of the first element antenna 6-1 and is shifted from the arrangement position of the first element antenna 6-1. The antennas are arranged at positions, that is, such that the radiation surfaces of the element antennas do not overlap.
[0025]
By arranging the element antennas in the direction perpendicular to the main radiation direction and inside the dielectric in the depth direction of the main radiation direction, side lobes and grating lobes can be suppressed. Further, by changing the relative permittivity of the multilayer dielectric on which the element antenna is arranged, side lobes and grating lobes can be suppressed optimally.
[0026]
Also, by mixing a material that absorbs a specific polarization into the space between the dielectric layers, the cross polarization removal ratio (XPD) is improved, and the resolution for multipath reflection is improved. Can be. In addition, a liquid crystal mixed with a material that absorbs a specific polarization is arranged in a space between the dielectric layers, and the improvement of the cross polarization rejection ratio (XPD) is electrically controlled to improve the resolution. be able to.
[0027]
Further, by adjusting the excitation amplitude distribution of the array antenna inside the dielectric, for example, by making a Chebyshev distribution, it is possible to suppress the side lobe level to a predetermined value or less and realize an optimal directional characteristic that minimizes the beam width. be able to.
[0028]
Further, when the array antenna of the present invention is applied to a vehicle-mounted radar system or the like, a transmission wave transmitted from a vehicle equipped with the radar system is reflected upon a target such as a vehicle ahead, and the reflected wave is mounted on the radar system. Multiple reflections occur such that the reflected wave is reflected on the vehicle and the reflected wave again strikes a target such as a vehicle ahead, but a delay component corresponding to an integer multiple of the delay for a specific distance from the target is obtained from the baseband signal of the received wave. When present, the target resolution can be improved by determining this as a multiple reflection component with the target, adjusting the directional characteristics of the array antenna of the present invention, and controlling the beam width.
[0029]
Also, when there is a delay component corresponding to an integer multiple of the delay for a specific distance from the target from the baseband signal of the received wave, this is determined as a multiple reflection component with the target, and the active antenna of the array antenna of the present invention is determined. By adjusting the number of element antennas, it is possible to avoid power saturation of the receiving system.
[0030]

[0031]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, by arranging element antennas in the direction perpendicular to the main radiation direction and inside the multilayer dielectric in the depth direction of the main radiation direction, the element antenna can be mounted in a limited mounting size. Thus, an array antenna with a sufficiently suppressed grating can be realized. Also, by changing the relative permittivity of the multilayer dielectric, it is possible to provide various directional characteristics in which side lobes and grating lobes that degrade azimuth resolution are suppressed.
[0032]
In addition, by disposing a liquid crystal mixed with a material that absorbs a specific polarization in the space between the dielectric layers, the cross polarization rejection ratio (XPD) is improved, and the resolution for multipath reflection is improved. The resolution can be improved by controlling them electrically.
[0033]
In addition, by adjusting the excitation amplitude distribution of the array antenna inside the dielectric, it is possible to suppress the side lobe level to a predetermined value or less and to realize an optimal directivity characteristic that minimizes the beam width.
