Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a thermal head used as a printing device such as a facsimile or a video printer, and a thermal printer using the same.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, a thermal head has been used as a printing device such as a facsimile or a video printer.
[0003]
As shown in FIG. 5, such a conventional thermal head has a structure in which a head substrate 21 having a large number of heating resistors 24 is mounted on an upper surface of a heat radiating plate 25 via a band-shaped adhesive 26. While the thermal recording medium such as thermal paper or ink film is slid in contact with the surface of the thermal head and transported onto the heating resistor 24 using an external transporting means, the heating resistors 24 are individually moved based on the image data. A predetermined image is recorded by selectively generating Joule heat and transmitting the generated heat to a thermosensitive recording medium.
[0004]
The heat radiating plate 25 is made of a metal having good thermal conductivity such as aluminum or SUS. The heat radiating plate 25 supports the head substrate 21 on its upper surface, absorbs a part of the heat of the head substrate 21, and discharges the heat to the outside. This effectively prevents the temperature of the head substrate 21 from becoming excessively high.
[0005]
The band-shaped adhesive 26 interposed between the head substrate 21 and the heat radiating plate 25 is formed of, for example, a resin material such as an epoxy-based resin so as to be disposed in a region immediately below the heating resistor 24. The head substrate 21 and the heat radiating plate 25 are firmly bonded directly below the heating resistor 24.
[0006]
Further, a double-sided tape 27 made of an acrylic resin is interposed between the head substrate 21 and the heat radiating plate 25 so as to surround the band-shaped adhesive 26, and the head substrate 21 is positioned at a predetermined position on the heat radiating plate 25. In addition to fixing, the adhesive 26 effectively prevents the adhesive 26 from coming into contact with atmospheric moisture.
[0007]
[Patent Document 1]
Published Japanese Utility Model Application No. 3-52152
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Incidentally, the resin material forming the adhesive 26 has a lower thermal conductivity than the aluminum forming the radiator plate 25, and if the contact area between the adhesive 26 and the head substrate 21 is large, the heat accumulated in the head substrate 21 Therefore, it is required to reduce the contact area between the adhesive 26 and the head substrate 21 as much as possible and to reduce the amount of heat trapped in the adhesive itself. .
[0009]
However, the double-sided tape 27 surrounding the adhesive 26 of the above-described conventional thermal head has a poor sealing property, and the double-sided tape itself easily absorbs moisture. When used, moisture in the atmosphere permeates through the double-sided tape 27 and penetrates into the adhesive 26, or the double-sided tape 27 absorbs moisture and discharges it toward the adhesive 26. In such a case, the adhesive 26 absorbs a large amount of moisture in the atmosphere, so that the width of the adhesive 26 is widened, and the contact area between the adhesive 26 and the head substrate 21 is disadvantageously increased. When the contact area between the adhesive 26 and the head substrate 21 increases, a large amount of heat inside the head substrate 21 is stored in the adhesive 26 itself, and this heat affects the heat generation characteristics of the heating resistor 24. As a result, it becomes difficult to cause the heating resistor 24 to generate heat at a desired temperature, or inconvenience occurs in that the fixed position of the head substrate 21 fluctuates.
[0010]
Further, in the above-described conventional thermal head, when the double-sided tape 27 protrudes from between the head substrate 21 and the heat radiating plate 25, foreign matters such as dust, dust, and paper dust in the air adhere to that portion. I will. If the recording operation is performed with such foreign matter attached to the double-sided tape 27, the foreign matter and the adhesive component of the double-sided tape 27 come into contact with the heat-sensitive recording medium, and the conveyance of the heat-sensitive recording medium becomes unstable. Alternatively, there is also a disadvantage that the print quality is deteriorated due to adhesion of dirt on the heat-sensitive recording medium.
[0011]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above-described drawbacks, and has as its object to print an image which can fix a head substrate in a predetermined position satisfactorily and can cause a heating resistor to generate heat at a desired temperature. An object of the present invention is to provide a high-quality thermal head and a thermal printer.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the thermal head of the present invention, a head substrate having a large number of heat generating resistors arranged thereon is placed on a top surface of a heat radiating plate via a band-shaped adhesive, and the adhesive is placed in a region directly below the arrangement of the heat generating resistors. Wherein a water-repellent sealing material surrounding the band-shaped adhesive is interposed between the head substrate and the heat radiating plate.
[0013]
Further, in the thermal head of the present invention, the sealing material is made of a fluorine-based resin.
[0014]
Further, a thermal printer according to the present invention includes the above-described thermal head, and transport means for transporting a recording medium on the thermal head.
[0015]
According to the present invention, since the adhesive located between the head substrate and the heat sink is surrounded by a water-repellent sealing material having excellent waterproof properties, the infiltration of moisture in the atmosphere is effectively blocked by the sealing material. As a result, it is possible to effectively prevent the adhesive from absorbing a large amount of moisture and to keep the width of the adhesive substantially constant from the initial state. Therefore, the heat inside the head substrate is well conducted to the heat radiating plate, so that the heat generating characteristics of the heat generating resistor can be maintained in a good state, and the heat generating resistor can be heated at a desired temperature. In addition, the head substrate can be satisfactorily fixed at a predetermined position on the heat sink.
[0016]
Further, according to the present invention, by forming the sealing material from a fluororesin having a small coefficient of friction and having an antifouling action, foreign matters such as dust and dust in the air and paper dust adhere to the sealing material. There is almost no case, and a part of the sealing material protrudes from between the heat radiating plate and the head substrate, and even if the running thermosensitive recording medium comes into contact with the protruding portion, the transport state of the thermosensitive recording medium is always stable. The state can be maintained, and adhesion of dirt to the heat-sensitive recording medium can be effectively prevented. Therefore, the printing quality of the thermal head and the thermal printer is maintained at a high level in combination with the above-mentioned "effect of suppressing the positional fluctuation of the head substrate" and "effect of suppressing the fluctuation of the heat generation characteristic of the heat generating resistor". Becomes possible.

In addition, the head substrate can be satisfactorily fixed at a predetermined position on the heat sink.
[0045]
