本発明は活性酸素消去作用物質の新規な開発を目的としており、遺伝毒性,癌,老化等の抑制あるいは防止に利用可能な物質を含有した飲食品および医薬組成物を提供するものである。

本発明者らは活性酸素消去作用物質として有用性のあるシンビジューム属植物を開発のテーマとし、その結果、シンビジューム属の原種エンシフォリウムの抽出物に特に高い活性酸素消去作用を有することを見いだした。

【発明の実施の形態】本発明に利用できるシンビジュームは、ラン科のシンビジューム属原種エンシフォリウムまたはそれを交配親にもつ交配種を用いる。植物体の花、葉、バルブ、根を生のまま、乾燥したもの、凍結乾燥したものを圧搾または粉砕し、乾燥粉末または溶媒抽出物として使用でき、その使用形態は制限されない。
